....hey Henry, we have a guy in our crew who has a press and can laminate and shape boards.....if you wanted him to press a few and send them to you for shaping, i'm guessing that could be arranged. Drop me a line if the Bamboo idea doesnt work out. Bamboo's breat stuff, but it's hard as nails.....not sure what kind of problems you could run into with cutting.

Hey nerds.
My second year of design class just started and I have access to a really great shop with all the cutting and sanding tools one could want.
I'd really like to make some bigger slalom boards for gs and basic cruising use... but i have no way to press decks together with plys and glue and fiberglass and all that so i was thinking some big slabs of bamboo... is this an ok idea or do i need to add something else to a babmoo deck to make it ridable. I'm not really going for flex, just a stiff solid board and i just really fancy bamboo. Im trying to figure out where to get some... I emailed comet. So if I can make like 3 or 4 decks, theyll all be the same and I'll get some art friends to paint a cool graphic on the bottom, and then give them to friends or if theyre actually ridable, sell em for cheap.
what do you think...
Henry

Bozi, distributors

This is such a cool site. After getting at least some reassurance that Jeff will (eventually) come through, I guess I'll just go back into Zen mode and wait it out, hoping Jeff gets through whatever must be going on. I've semi-satisfied my longboard jonesin' by getting one of the Original Hybrid 37 completes being blown out on eBay, but what I really crave is the long, smooth ride. It's all new to me, just getting back into riding with my two young boys very recently. That's one of the reasons I wanted to buy from Jeff directly: advice on what would work best for me. And now I've 'met' a kind enthusiast just a few towns over.

I know this doesn't help your present situation, but consider buying from a distributor next time. Most distributors dont bill until they've shipped, so you can contest the matter with your credit card company.
If you buy from Jeff via Papal, you only have 30 days to contest anything. Since he doesn't ship within 30 days but bills right away, that leaves the buyer with no recourse except to wait and hope. Seller has all the cards, buyer has none. Not my kind of arrangement. In fairness tho Jeff returned my money when I asked for it.
His boards are nice rides tho (gloves not so good), so next time just go thru a reputable distributor and save yourself a headache.

I guess my gripe is that at this point *Jeff* should reassure me that this is no scam, not his satisfied customers and friends. This was his last email to me, dated July 8th:
"Sorry, just behind still, Ive stopped taking new orders until all old orders are shipped. Last whiles been a handful Business, home, health, whole ball of wax. No worries, its coming. Thanks for being patient, some arent ;-) Jeff"
Apparently he *is* still taking orders and my board has not yet shipped. And he won't return my calls or emails. Plain and simple his support stinks. On at least some level, his business is a scam. Still, he seems like a good guy - weird situation!

Chris B, I don't think anybody feels any ill will toward Jeff personally. And everybody seems to understand that this is basically a garage operation (albeit a classy one) run by a guy with a life and a job to worry about.
But if this is the case, perhaps Jeff should not ask for money up front. Nor make any promises like 2-4 weeks for delivery. If Eric had been told at the beginning, "Look, this may take months, I've got a lot going on, give me a 20 percent advance and you can pay the rest when the board is done," then he could have made an informed decision at the start, and there would be no weird vibe around this. Jeff has nothing to lose: the demand for his boards is such that, in the unlikely event somebody walked away from the deal, he could surely sell the board within a day or two.

I spoke with Jeff a while back and he said he was backed up and had some other things going on...Keep in mind, this isnt a business with a big factory, and a store front and all...it's a grassroots biz. Not making excuses for the hold up, just reassuring that it's not a scam.

There's definately a lot of respect to be shared in the longboarding community, respect for the riders, the makers, the shops, and everyone involved! But when it comes to business, and transactions between two parties, there has to be limits to what can and cannot be done. This long wait situation that's floating around, without responses from the distributor/seller is NOT proper business-like conduct. It shouldnt happen like this, but it is. Maybe certain people lack certain business skills, but how long will it take to get the point?? MY friend first thought I got sucked into a scam, but im 110% sure Bozi is not a scam.

I waited about 5 weeks for my Pistol, a friend waited 6 weeks for his...both those seemed like an eternity, but in reality, it wasnt that long for a custom deck. On the flip side, i've heard of 8mm truck orders (not thru Chicken) going as long as your 11 weeks...and longer....so it's possible, and unfortunately not too uncommon....but i'd personally be pulling my hair out. For comparisons sake, i've waited 5 weeks now for Boneless replacement caps and wristguards....only a 40.00 order....and i'm more than ticked...

been drooling over this one since it came in yesterday, expensive!!! for a ply board, but the mold does look to be dec specific, well any way the 36 is the hot one ,to me.The 38 has less nose so the wheelbase is cruisier, the graphic is also a bit cheesier, but the hammerhead shape was meant to be a longboard.

for comparison sake, I had Steve Hopper at Insect work with me on creating a custom deck using a new design he had never used before and a new layup/construction he had never done before, and I got it in about 7 weeks. A unique custom design with high tech materials in far less time (though a bit more $$ I am sure).

JUNE 14th???? Theres something to be said for that. Im sure Jeff is a nice guy and has good intentions, but the customer service side to him lacks. If you have waited 11 weeks thats insanely WRONG. Good luck I hope you eventually get yours in the year 2004. In the meantime, i might graduate college before I get my pintail...

Question on wait

Did those of you who say be patient and it's worth the wait, have waits as long as mine (Monday will be 11 weeks)? Am I out of line? I'd heard (and expected) 2-4 weeks and my understanding was that the components were all in stock. Slap me if my experience truly is typical!

I ordered my standard flex Mad Bomber 2 with Randals and Avilas (and paid for it) on June 14th, first thing in the morning; still no show. That's almost 11 weeks now, approaching 3 months. Prior to the order, Jeff was very much excellent in helping me to decide what components to select, etc. I have been extremely patient for the very reason that I'm certain the board is exactly what I want. But despite several attempts by email and phone (never nasty), I have not heard a word from Jeff since July 8th! I agree that the time is relative - what's a few months compared to the rest of my life - but the guy should at least take the 5 minutes to either tell me, "Sorry for the delay Eric but really, the board is coming" or "Sorry for the delay Eric, and I'm sorry but I can't supply the board - here's your money back" (which would suck big time). It also stings to read about prize Bozi boards at competions and thanks for sponsorship and all that, while a regular joe who just wants to bomb hills on a world class ride knowing it was designed by a passionate craftsman/artist, sits with his thumb you know where. I really feel mistreated in this one and I think justifiably so. Please slug him once in the gut for me, then say that I'm still looking forward to my MB2!

I've gotta chime in on Jeff's behalf here. He's a Craftsman, and a Skateboarder. What comes from his shop is amazing, and I say this knowing he uses mostly just Wood, and I'm a 'Techie' who likes stuff like Carbon Fiber and Vertical laminates.. I bided my time in aquiring the 2 Bozi's I've owned, waiting to nab them at the moment their previous owners were at their weakest(Sorry Geezer!),but it's been SO Worth waiting for,in both cases.I too am worried about the delay here,as I know Jeff has had some issues that slow things a bit at his end. That said,,1st,make contact with Bozi, then be as calm as you can about the passsage of time(Hey,It's all Relative anyway, unless you're Hawking, wherein it's it's an infinitely moot point in the Realm).Good things Will come your way. A second route to take is to pester all of Jeff's friends until they all beat up on him at the Parking Lot!

Eric, how was your experience with Bozi? I ordered my pintail on August 11th, and i'm still waiting. I've put in emails and phone calls to Jeff @ Bozi and haven't gotten any repies. Unfortunately there are no oonline shops that sell the bozi pintail, hence why I ordered from Bozi's site. It's seriously getting ridiculous...
