Boards getting more flexible? no way

Actually, wood will hold its tensile strength for years and years...a board cannot get "flexier" with use and over time. I'd have to guess you have some cracked ply's on the inner layers. As a friend who's a carpenter explained to me: Look at a tree branch. They get blown in the wind for years and can bend all the way to the ground over and over yet never weaken. That charactoristic stays with the wood.
Which would also mean that those dang vintage fibreflex's were always that soft...we just got heavier.
Wanna firm up the board?....buy a sheet of carbon fibre and matte the bottom, covering your graphic. but depending on the cost, you may have just invested more than the board is worth

Flexed Out

Daniel, there's only one solution to keeping a flexed-out board alive; You gotta add a stringer of wood, fiberglass, both,or some other stiffener to it. I've been hacking the edges off of old Snowboards and making cruiser/carver/Slalom-practice boards out of them for years. As the BX/Alpine/Race market started to dry up, it became tougher to get a snowboard stiff enough to work well(damn Pipe/Park boards;Wimpy flex). The solution is easy, add a beam down the center underside to prop up the flex. I've done the same for flexy boards like Flexdecks too. Items that work are hunting bows, cross-country skis, old Fiberglass Sk8boards,Skimboards that've delammed, wood bits from hobby shops(look for Hickory or Bass wood),even fiberglass markers used by the cable companies.. Use your imagination. If you can cut it to fit, and t-nut it on the board's bottom, and it's made of stuff that's similar to your deck in flex/snap, I say try it. If it dosen't work out, hey, you're out the time with some hand tools and a few t-nuts.

Sector Nine Cosmic II Measurements

I'm looking into buying a sector nine cosmic rider II deck and setting it up with stuff I already have. The only problem being I only have 7.6" indys lying around and either use them or have to buy new trucks. since the front truck is mounted right on the nose that's not a problem, but I need measurements on the width at the rear truck mount. So, if someone who owns a Cosmic Rider II would please measure the deck's width at the rear mounting holes that would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I'm using Gumballs so that should take up the width that the trucks don't have.

re boards that lose flex over time: Solution - bin it, buy a new one. Does Sharapova use the same racquet for a year?

I am so glad to have a sector9 over here in germany...so sweet....
but there´s one problem: after one year of nearly every day riding it seems it loosens its flex. do you know something to help keep it flexy/regain the original flex?
Thanks - Daniel

This is a response to Paul about wanting a carbon fibre RIV. I'm sure if you email Landyachtz they can make you one.

Thanks for all of the e-mail I received on the Bahne. Just wanted to let you know that I have traded it and it is, therefore, no longer available. Thanks! Rob

Anyone tried the 39" version of this deck? Looks like a fun bank board to replace my aging fluid V. I can't find any info on the width, however. It's between this deck and the gravity 39 carve, or the Edwards.

Nob question here, but what size drill bit would I use to drill a deck for standard trucks like Randals or Indys?
thanks

For GlenD - I recently purchased a Bahne Rocker and it is 30" long x 9" wide and has a 21" wheel base. I have Tracker Dart 129s on it with 65mm Kryptonics Hawaii wheels. I have a 34" Deathbox that I love and bought this Bahne on a whim. I'm not wild about the Bahne though and would sell it for half its original cost if you are interested. I only rode it 2 or 3 times. Would also consider trades.

Glen, have you seen how Jack has his set up - wheels are flush with the tail, Front truck may be pushed forward tos nose as well. Won at JPL this way - probably 24" wheelbase. FYI

This is a WAY long overdue review of a board I treasure. I don't race on it because it's got a wee bit too much camber for my liking to race on but otherwise it feels GOOD. I race on fancy (and spendier) custom foam cores but I don't practice on them because they're too dialed in and valuble for racing to me. The Fibreflex I ride is a Flex #1 (more flexy) and I weigh 165-ish. This board with it's wood core, and bow-tuff fibreglass is durable and has'nt become "mushy" at all after roughly a year of HARD riding on a fairly regular basis. If they'd lower the camber a smidge I'd probably race on it. If you can get one, I'd recommend getting one for you quiver. Adios-Paul
