Yeah, I do them old school style - feet side by side, press down on one edge, pull up on the other. I can kickflip my S9 Supercruiser pretty consistently this way.

Yo Grady, If you want hills around the NYC area, try Westchester cty. NYC is a bitch to sk8 in and most of long island seems pretty flat (like the surf this summer, he he). If you explore Westchester you can find some nice hills with minimal traffic on them, later.

I know a lot of you out there don't like the new school longboarders, but I am both. And I just figured out how to land kickflips on my New Deal 47". It looks awesome but is hard to do. Anyone else out there know how to do them? Peace Gabe

there's plenty of hills in nyc, but most of 'em have cars on them. try the parks on the weekends, they're closed to traffic. just try to get used to riding in traffic.

Hi longboarders. Can anyone help me to do a coleman slide? Is there another form of brake? I think that if you try to break like sk8 you can have a coooool crash.... If anyone know the answer please write me! Thanks

Depending on your wheel durometer, or the hardness of your wheels, makes you slip or grip. If you have very hard wheels, you should be enabled to slip and slide around much more. If you have softer wheels, you should grip the ground better

I'm 17, I live in london and Ive been longboarding for 3 years. Last Easter I went to St.Moritz for my first ever week of snowboarding and I loved it. after I got back I tried shortboarding at southbank, and I loved it. I now shortboard when I want to do tricka and shit & longboard if I;m going somewhere fast. I deally I'd like a hybrid between a shortboard and a longboard, so I can get arounf and do tricks.
The main thing is, it doesnt matter what any aged skaters or anyone else thinks about what you're doing, as long as you're enjoying it.
keep skatin

go to any skating site like www.skateboard.com or go to www.hotbot.con and search for "skate tips" or whatever it is you want.

I think I know what he is talking about. I don't ride mongo, but on occasion if I am pushing off and I move my foot to the right of center(i'm goofy) and put all my weight on it, I feel like I am going to go ass over teakettle. I actually have a few times.

If you're pushing mongo, normally your foot will be on the board close to the back trucks. The closer to the back trucks you are, the squirrelier it will be. This is why when you're going fast your stance should be forward.
Soooo... either push regular, or move your back foot closer to the front for extended pushing. And of course if you're going to be pushing for a long flat, take the time to centre your foot.

Does anyone else sometimes find it tricky when pushing off. I ride a Cloud 9 and the deck is WIDE. if my foot is'nt dead centre my board vears off making pushing off a real ass. Does anyone have any tricks or pointers that help this. I ride mongo - thats means kicking off with the front (When are Real Wood gonna post Augusts Winners?)

Thats kind of weird,I know someone told me they snowboard in the opposite stance they skate in because they shared a board while they were learning (snowboarding) and that was the stance the owner of the board had. It should actually be cool, it should be easier for you to do switchstance moves on all your favorite surf-stance vehicles even bikes ,stunt and off road, have a favored stance and it makes you better or at least more versital if you can go switchstance.

I have recently moved away from the ocean and have started longboarding to fight all of the dry days. However, I've noticed that my footing is reversed on the skateboard than on a surf board. Does it make a difference and would my surfing performance increase more if I switched?

jens, if you were talking to me, a curbie is not a new skool trick. it's like a heaps old trick that this guy showed me who skated like 30 years ago. it's like an alternative to an ollie. also who asked you?

I dont knopw who you are talking to but i realyl hope it aint me. I have a longboard, it is a gravity hyper carve. Now i might not ride like a traditional longboarder, but i ride like a Gravity Longboarder. I am free to do what ever the hell i want with my board and any one can do what want with thier board, either if it is rideing hills, mountains, or ramps, so jens.....speak when spoken to

to shea: the ol' curbie. I used to do them on my shortboard for a laugh. i can see myself having some good slams on my longboard coz it's damn hard getting your feet off the board if something doesn't go right. i'll give it a go but.
