Speed freeks unite! 20 years ago I stoped skateboarding 'cus it was to slow and my teeth wore out. Now it's still to slow. I thought someone would have done something about it by now, so I checked. They have'nt. So I did! My 15 year old Santa Cruz has half the rolling resistanc, twice the lateral friction, and as smooth as.. whatever. Just bring lots of gauz and bandaids. Check the shops this FALL! Always wear protection, Happy road rash! CK PLAST

Finally made my board!!! I was going to use just plain oak to make it, but it was pretty expensive and heavy. I used oak plywood and it seems to be plenty strong, with a bit of flex though. Now I just need to decide on what trucks to use...any suggestions?

Longboarders in NYC??
I am an old school street skater who wants to come out of "retirement". Any longboarders/geezers here in New York City (I am in E. Village)? I am about to buy my first long board and am looking for advice (any recommendations for a good city cruiser?), good local skate spots, people to skate with... thanks...

Well, I finally made a board, I made it out of oak plywood, it looks pretty nice and the wood was only 15 bones, now I just need to pick out some trucks, and I'm good to go!!

I just want to say I'm stoked to see all the interest in longboarding right now...A few years back, I saw a need for longboards in the skateshop where I worked, and now it's getting a strong start. Thanks to all of YOU. Join the IRC #sidewalksurf chat. Skate with style, that's what it's all about. DEPLO Skateboards: http://www.netcom.com/~deplo

Greetings from the Dogtown/Venice area. Longboarding is alive and well here. I've been seeing lots of old-shoolers back on the long stuff. Did a photo session with Brad Strandlund and George Orton at the Temecula skatepark last week. We are putting together a longboard magazine that will debut at the X-Games in June in San Diego. If you would like to contibute articles/photographs related to ANY aspect of longboarding, shoot them in!! Pics should be on ektachrome slide film or equivalent. Articles should be on an IBM compatible disc, if possible. Deadline is end of April. For more info, contact:
Keith Stephenson 10 26th Ave. Venice, CA 90291 310-577-0913 kstephen@netwood.net One final note: Madrid Pro Designs makes some RULING longboards!! You can contact them by calling 714-848-5959 or write to:

Hey! Im looking for info on GOOD types of wood to make my own decks from. Reg plywood isnt really the best, the layers and glue come apart. Anyone know anything about hard wood decks, and solid wood decks?

Well channel #sidewalksurf is up and running on IRC Undernetorg, set up by Paul from "Sidewalk Surfing" the channel is for longboarders and old schoolers to chat. We have had good chats on technique and equipment. The channel needs more users so pop in and if its empty keep checking it out, It will soon be the official channel for the Skate Geezer inaugral get togehter. Mail me for details or watch this post. If you have a IRC client then aimit at #sidewalksurf on Undernet if you only have a Java equpied browser like Navigator 3 then go to the Sidewalk Surfing page and get access to a java irc client it works OK if a little bit slowly. Skate hard and come and chat !

Help! Anyone know of any good skate shops on SoCal area? So far, all that I have seen have been short board related shops that carry some pretty generic, complete long boards.
