EAST BAY Skateboarders: Do you want to teach a skateboarding class and get paid for it? This summer, we're looking for someone who has experience teaching skateboarding to kids. Pay is negotiable. Email me if you are interested.

I'm working on an article about sandboarding on the central coast for publication in some area newspapers. If anyone has ever done it in the Monterey or Santa Cruz areas, please get in touch with me at kim.white@journalist.com.
Thanks!

That's cool. I understand about the flame wars and the trolling. And I had forgotten about the search (to keep track of a particular thread.)
Thanks!

In Usenet a threaded system works because the client is smart and can provide filtering capabilities. Here we are bound to a dumb browser and all the features must be programmed to the server. So with dumb clients (and users, :-)) a flat system requires much less moderating.

Kevin, the beauty of a flat system over a threaded one is that flamewars die much quicker. In a threaded system (such as Usenet) they can go on for weeks. Here they seldom last more than a day or two.

I've seen a mountainbike website where answers to a question or discussion are filed under the original post and indented,i don't really think it's that great,I just read everything new and remember things i want to respond to.If someones' have a agruement er discussion, i generally read back and figure out a way to disagree equally with everybody:)

I love this board! The only thing I would love to see is a thread system, where you can actually keep track of the posts on a particular thread. It's frustrating trying to keep track of a conversation over time. Some things, like Soulcarving, work best with the open post style, since every post is about the main topic, but things like Riding Locations, Equipment, etc. I would love to see set up that way. What do you all think?

a question... i've been riding my longboard for about 4 years, but here in spokane, wa, there isn't much longboarding, so i don't know much about the sport, other than i like riding... anyways, i'd like to get a new deck, but don't know what to get. my board right now is a Sector 9 Supercruiser with RIIs. I think it has S9 wheels, but i'm not sure since the printing wore off long ago. they're red, anyway. i'd like to get something shorter and and quicker, something to zip around on. i am 6'1" and weigh about 170, if that makes any difference. i'm definately no pro, but i'd like something nice. any suggestions? also, what is the difference between a longboard and a slalom board? i admit i am clueless. thanks.

From the webmaster..
The Rate This Post box now displays the unique post number for each post. Apart from other uses, it will allow members to specify an offending post to our moderators well before the automated Abuse system would flag it on its 3rd Abuse vote.
We have also made the email links a little easier to use as the DOTed address now also appears in the email body. This was done because some email clients like MS Outlook do not allow the editing of an email address in the TO line.

What up people? Well first to Concrete junkie-Kona concrete was first poured in 1977,and concrete is still being poured here today. We have many new additions on the way that are gonna by far blow some minds, but I'm not allowed to talk.
also we have purchased Stone edge and have saved the nine bowl, everything else was destroyed before we could get to her, but the future is look'n bright. New ramps are being built as I type. Yesterday we installed the wireless network so all the computers and the pro shop are up and running. The nine bowl and the mini ramp are all that is open while the rest is under construction. But by summer this is gonna be a must stop when in FL...
The contest for June is look'n to be insane. The pro vert and street are world cup events, and the banked and park slalom events are gonna be classic, not to mention the secret pool party...but I'm not supposed to talk...see it pays to be a ncdsa'er....anyway, the longboard session here have been every night it is crazy the old school scene is rad here....hope some of you England dudes make it out, I know Brazil is come'n.....Cali is plan'n on stomp'n so I know those boys are come'n, but the rest of you mad typer's better book your ticket....hint prices are come'n down, prize's are gett'n bigger....must go sk8...see ya later..
sk8 everythinG,

I am difficult to insult, hugh. you can give it a go tho if we meet sometime. I think I could get you pissed off before you could get me pissed off, :-).
I am my own worst critic.
my opening gambit in my last post was lame and confusing.
let me try again.
I meant that if the receiver feels insulted, then you insulted them, end of story, whether you meant to or not.
There's no point in following an insult with an argument about why they shouldn't feel insulted. it's pointless. they feel insulted. either apologize or hit 'em again with another one depending upon what you wish to achieve.
But don't get defensive and start saying the insult was not an insult. that is just plain stupid.
For example, If a black guy is insulted by a white guy calling him a name but is not insulted if a black guy calls him the same name, well, there you go, that's just how it is.
either insult him or don't insult him, but refrain from arguing that it's not an insult. cause if he feels insulted, it's an insult no matter how strange it might seem to you.
I don't think a lot of people realize this, at least from reading the posts.

I generally enjoy insulting those I love more than those I don't care for... though if I just like someone, they are fair game for insults... but I will insult those I don't like too... I guess that would make me and "equal opportunity" insulter.
If I know something about someone, then quality insults are much easier to come by...
I would prefer to insult someones skills or habits rather than their looks... insulting someones intellect is not nearly as satisfying as insulting their man-hood (one of my fav's, along with the comments relating to their prefrence of viewing oversized rumps, scantilly clad, running to their double wide to fry something up... with fuzzy slippers on)
I wish I knew you better John... then I could come up with a proper insult for you... HR

Insults are like beauty, they are in the eye of the beholder.
The above simple fact is missed by 9 out of 10 people.
If somebody says they are insulted by what you said, arguing with them about the validity of their feelings seems lame.
A. Decide if you want to insult somebody or not.
B. Act accordingly.
If you insult somebody accidentally, you have the same decision. If you don't really want to insult them, just apologize and get it over with, don't get all defensive and say they shouldn't be insulted. everybody makes mistakes.
I generally take the politically correct route when I can because I don't want to insult people I don't know. Once I get to know them, I may want to insult them, but I like to choose insults that won't insult other people I don't know. This last part can be challenging.
the above rules make life a lot simpler and happier for everybody. Too bad about 1 in 10 people understands them.

Not saying that Kona is a load of poo or anything it looks amazing just that is not the last true skatepark, one of the last admittedly but not the last,
I think Kona looks well nice and mellow great for cruising around in Stone Edge still going?
