Event: X Marks the Spot @ Club Blue (A Collaboration of Hip-Hop and Action Sports Culture) Place: Club Blue - 1642 N Las Palmas Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028, {South of Hollywood Blvd} Time: Doors open at 10 pm until 2am (free until 10:30pm)
X GAMES AND HIP HOP COLLIDE AT X MARKS THE SPOT @ CLUB BLUE ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 15, 2003
Athletically Inclined (AI), a sports and urban marketing firm based out of Philadelphia, PA is sponsoring X Marks the Spot @ Club Blue – A collaboration of Hip Hop and Actions Sports culture. The X Games themed promotional mixer/ party is scheduled for Friday, August 15th, doors open at 10pm, free until 10:30. X Marks the Spot is the only X Games themed event in LA that blends urban hip hop culture with the Action Sports Community. The mission of this event is for Athletically Inclined, to display its commitment to the Action Sports community and to bridge the gap between urban Hip Hop culture and Action Sports.
Club Blue has made its home in the old Las Palmas Theater, just two blocks from Hollywood Boulevard. The cool and stylish venue offers a scene of hip and trendy nightlife, holds over 1,000 people, has 4 rooms, 3 lounges, 2 dance floors, a VIP lounge/entrance, outdoor patio and valet parking. AI has partnered with LA based promoter, Dave Brown, who recently organized an event at Club Blue for San Diego Chargers player, Marcellus Wiley. Brown is known to draw some of the most hip and powerful people in LA, we expect the same demographic to support this event.
Branding sponsors for this event include, Arista Records promoting Pharrell Williams, Bone Crusher and Outcast, Rockstar Energy Drink, Rocawear, and JNCO Jeans. There will be various raffles and promotional give-a-ways throughout the evening. Many action sport & music industry celebrities will also be in attendance. We are expecting a turnout of more than 1,200 individuals, celebrating one of the Action Sports marquee events- X Games and its appeal to Hip Hop culture. This event will be the most dynamic and diverse event during the X Games party circuit. # # #

Looking for a few great riders.... I have been on the hunt to build my team and I have been finding a ton of talent but no one has been fitting the mold. Ben Schroeder is one of my Top and Only Professional riders and I got hime here. Ben is working on a new signature model as I type. I am trying to develop a team of creative longboarders who take filming and photo sessions serious. I will be able to offer a signature model and some real freedom on the design and graphics, plus a whole lot of free swag once we get rolling. I am very interested in old pool skaters and pro slalom guys who want to take their riding to the longboard market.. Check out the company at firns.com and email me with any questions. Thanks Rick

Hey, i don't know how many of you have heard of this board, but it is stinkin incredible. It's called Freebord. I don't work for the company, I'm just letting people know, cause not too many people know about it.
Anyway the point is that it acts like a snowboard on asphalt. A lot of boards claim to do that, but the Freebord actually slides sideways. It's insane. You can go down the hill totally horizontal if you want!
Check it out, it's a fun ride....
Watch some of the videos on the site to get an idea of how this thing rides.

From the webmaster..
We're trying to speed up page loads on Ncdsa.com and we've just implemented a database optimization that should help.
It would be a great help if people could time how long it takes for a forum to come up after clicking a menu selection. Please post your findings here, being sure to list both the forum name and the time in seconds that it took for the first 25 posts to fully display.

This is interesting. I was looking thru my stash of old skate zines, and it appears that I found a photo of one of the regulars here. It's from geek attack issue #9, dated fall 1988.
Caption says hes doing an ollie off a cement block in Westwood NJ. That's the only clue I'm giving, see if you can guess who this is.
Strangely enough, in this very same issue I also found a photo of myself that I submitted to the editor...

Or...
(IMG src="the url of your picture here")
You will have to replace the ( in the above with < You will have to replace the ) in the above with >
Don't forget the space between IMG and src, don't forget the quotation marks.

HOW TO POST PICTURES!
If you have server space with the pictures already up and available, all you have to do is this:
(IMG SRC="the url of your picture here")(/IMG)
You will have to replace the ( in the above with < You will have to replace the ( in the above with >
That's it!

Posting Pictures
Rick Fichter, - I have had the same problem and I have yet to figure it out. I have a couple of active websites and I have created and published myself without problems. I have not been able to figure out the picturer posting on this forum. It has to be something simple. I will try again with this post just for the fun of it.

a Mikey Dora question for the "originals":
was Mickey Dora the legendary surfer a local at the POP z-boys surf spot back in 1974? according to this website he was, http://atomicbride.com/dora.html.
Here's what they say:
"Next time I saw Dora was circa 1974. Venice was still largely a black ghetto. Dora was part of the group that surfed "the cage" (that miserable little right in front of the POP pier pilings). Dora was among those in control of the spot and he surfed it OK. The rumors at the time were that Dora lived out of a car and spent his weekends crashing parties in Brentwood, Hollywood and the valley, and that he often claimed that he worked as a "wine importer." Others claimed that he was actually destitute, was drinking heavily and was among the homeless folks who slept under the pier! Who really knew the truth?"

Hello,
Tony Jetton and I were great friends "back in the day", and I'm afraid I've lost track of him completely. His parents have moved from their longtime address in Rolling Hills, with no forwarding information. The last time we spoke, he was living in Hawaii but that was many years ago. Does anyone have any information on how one could contact him? We have so much to catch up on... marriage, kids, etc. etc. Thanks for any help you can provide!
