wah wah wah...go put on some lycra and wrist guards and watch each others hips wiggle. Sure slaloms tuff but so is line dancing. Oh we lost one, damn! Your events assemble the redheaded step children of our sport. I've never seen guys in spandex brought to tears over a stopwatch. Sure there's a couple slalom guys out there I wouldn't have the balls to say this to but only a couple. Isn't there a slalom forum where you can go hold hands? Stop sniffling, just be stoked 2 cones and your boyfriend counting is all you need to get excited.

There will always be 100 times as many people who'd like to skate with you than those who'd prefer not to. It's a minority, and a mercifully small one at that, who stir the sh@t in here. I wish you had a bunch like the DC outlaw crew to race/session with. No attitude, tons of stoke. I mean, there's good info here if you can stand to sift through the crap, and it's a swell place to buy and sell stuff. But yeah, I can see where you're coming from.

Hugh, dude, fight the virus, fight the idiots, figth the stupids, i feel pretty much like you sometimes thinking on "what would it be if i enter this site looking for GOOD info on slalom ans read all this crap?" my answer; "hmm those mountain bikers seems like nice people, i better get one and have fun, instead of a slalom deck and get crap"
do what i do, "overread" the interesting forums that you always write homemade boards, this one, the buy-sell-trade, speedboards, etc.
again, and i know that u will understand this, forgive those who try to make you loose your temper and make you angry, dont try to understand them, just let them be, thir time will come.
hope to see u around
Leo
and yes, i know that i should be writing you this on a personal email (wich i will) but it bothers me that the site its losing THE SOUL it says it has.
aiming for lots and lots of flags and abuses

I was in WV and witnessed Brady/Scabs in action and can tell you that the guy does skate and skates well. He skates in a parallel (sort of) stance and has some style to boot. He does'nt exactly tear the course a new one, but of the parallel skaters that I know of and have seen skate (Wesley T and Brewington) he would certianly hold his own and quite possibly beat them both. (this last sentence is why I have posted anonymously). So there.

Wil not Slalom,Ever... Hey,I do Slalom, almost competitively even. But,I also Luge,Standup DH,Buttboard, ride Vert, make Ramps/Parks,ride bowls when I can even Pools,do almost no street/kickflippin' anymore, and love to just cruise. So,because I ride a bunch of different boards, but don't kickflip,I'm NOT a Skater? Uh,I don't think so... What I don't do(with exception of distinctly Not liking Railsliding)is keep my MIND CLOSED about what skateboarding is,has been, will be,or Could be. I skate, and do it well enough, have been doing it long enough, that I feel(without inflating my own Ego)I can offer snippetts of insight for those trying to figure out some things, things I usually had figure out myself, and often paid for with a new scab, bruise,or sprain(clutz,Yup). If that's like too overbearing for you,So Sorry-Don't read my posts. Meanwhile, don't LABEL ME,unless you are going to call me a Skateboarder...Aloha,and peace out

You guys are the biggest bunch of girls I have ever seen. Almost everything I've seen related to Slalom has been negative, whiny pussies, who act like 6th graders trying to out nerd each other. Maybe the non-dork slalomers know to stay away from this forum. The few exceptions I have seen are Chaput and Mollica who are OK with anyone on a skateboard, and maybe Hackett and Olsen if they were not such rock stars.
I don't know Arab, but I get the feeling he's just a skateboarder, also. And that's cool. I know of his good side, so when I read his rants I knd of like them, and get a good laugh.
The rest of you pansies need to ride a pool or listen to some hardcore or drop in a vert ramp or get laid or hem your skirt or SOMETHING.

And let`s get the facts straight...
Lunch, both days I bought my own. Mark did pick ip the tab for satyrdays breakfast (Bobby, Keith, and I), and saturdays dinner (about 20 folks at the table). I picked up the tab for dinner sunday night.
No free lunch.
Again, big thanks to Mark McCress and others for making this trip happen for me. It was the best time I had all year.

Poser? Good one Arab. It was only a couple of days ago a bunch of folks were posting that it was mainly one individual that posted 99% of the negative BS on these boards. Funny hows true facts were laid out and then that person went silent. Then slowly he posted sweet thoughts as if that will negate his transgressions. But NOOOOOOO... it was only a day later when the true ONLINE ARAB shows his face again. You gotta love it,,, HAS BEEN, POSER> what`s next?
How`d you do at WLAC last weekend? Were you a no show or did you not qualify, place? Or was it a too faggy scene since it was hosted by the fastest (on that hill) slalomer,,, er, street racer. You talk the good talk and BAM, slam any and everyone.
I think an online apology is about due to Scott Peer. Talk about disrespect?
The fact is this, I`ve never professed to be anything other than what I am, a skateboarder who likes slalom. I never said I was a Pro. I never offered advice as one. Maybe if I came out and paid the entry fee for all FCR races and finished last I could. Or maybe if I never placed on the podium at those races, I could still be considered a pro since I did in fact anter as a pro?
So just who is the POSER-HAS BEEN? Huh?
Drop to open and earn some respect, or are you afraid the true light will be shown and again you`ll miss the podium?

Hugh, don't go!! You of all people have been a wise, solid, concerned advocate of Skateboarding in it's many forms. You're a true Skater, someone who is in touch with the real "soul' of this sport. Whatever-in-the-heck Happened,I hope you can find a means to forgive those involved in your being this disenchanted with the current state of the sport.Your photos of "the Gathering" have been some of very few photos I could point out friends as proof of how cool our events are in general, and how awesome the Gatherings have been in particular. The other stuff you've got on your webpage is just amazing,a truely phenomenal resource of info about Longboarding and it's near-cousins in the realm of skateboarding. Please, continue to be the bright light in this nexus of the on-line Longboard community; We need your input and guidance still. On a purely selfish note,I still haven't had a chance to entice you out my way to surf some of the killer hills in my backyard. You gotta hang around long enough to do that.. Well, whatever you decide, understand you've got my profound respect always. Aloha

Hugh...
I'm not sure what precipitated your post, but don't lose faith in the whole site! Through your own site and comments, along with this site (specifically home made boards, soulcarving, riding locations) you have fueled my interest / re-interest in skateboarding! (and woodworking) (I am not involved with slalom at all so I am a little in the dark with regard to it) I make my own boards, skate with the 10 year olds in the neighborhood and the kids at the local park and talk to their parents, cruise through town on my longboard after work, carve up the local hill near my house and have a blast doing it all!!
Stay positive, you are an anchor.

You know, I used to really love this site... but it has really turned ugly.
I used to consider myself a skater... but having met so many "Core" "Pro" "Real" skaters, I now refer to myself as just some guy who skateboards, because I won't be a part of what they stand for.
I used to help push Slalom skateboarding... now I am anxiously awaiting its second lapse into obsciurity.
I used to buy Slalom equipment... now I have sold nearly every piece I ever bought and have no plans on ever buying another slalom specific peice of equipment.
I used to help spread the word about Slalom... now I am in the process of shutting down my Slalom websites.
I used to travel hundreds/thousands of miles just to pick up cones and take pictures of guys running cones, then race home to be the first to get them up on the internet... now I wouldn't do it if you paid me.
I used to tell every skate interested person I came in contact with about this site... now I am very aprehensive about doing that, because who knows what type of crap they'll be reading on these boards.
I used to post a lot on this message board... but not as much any more, because I never know what type of attacks I am going to receive.
I used to think that all forms of skateboarding were great... but now I know that Slalom and it's pro's need to go.
I used to care about the ramifications of statements like the one I just made... now I don't, because Slalom and it's pro's need to go back in to nothingness.
One at a time people are saying goodbye to Slalom Skateboarding... pretty soon it will be gone, and not a minute too soon... HR
