(this is to all the ppl who dont wear helmets)
my friend and i were riding up the street next to the street where he lives. there was a car comming behind us and we went to hug the curb to let it pass. as the car passed, a person in it rolled down the window and threw some thing at me and said "get the f*%# out of the street" even though there was enough space for 2 cars of the same size to pass through. so i said loudly and clearly "F%$* off". this is when the car (black ford expedition) stopped and 5 guys got out. knowing full well that this would be a fight i took of my gloves and and took out my pocket knife. when this happened (and i didnt notice it) my board with the gloves of it began to roll down the street. when the guys saw i had a shank, one of them stayed and started to aproach me as the others went back to the car. eventualy they came back but this time one was carrying a putter and the other has a small trash can. by this time my friend was already at his home getting his brother and his friends to come help me. anyhoo... as the 5 guys were comming at me i noticed i didnt have a chance so i ran to find my board and take off downhill. when i got to it i picked it up and then dropped it because of its weight and stumbled. next think i know one of the guys throws a trash can at me and then the rest of them jump me. i feel i get a hard hit on the head but i was wearing my helmet as i always do. 2 seconds later i had nothing to do but yell and scream and cus as loud as i could. soon after people came out saw what was happening and called the cops. one guy even took a photo of their plates. i was really beat up with a blood dripping elbow and pain in the ribs (the next day it hurt in many more places.) when the 5 guys saw that they were being watched they took off and just 2 minutes later my friend came with the back up. when showing the police my damage, my friend pointed out my helmet. turns out the hit to the head i mentioned before was the golf putter. my helmet shell cracked in half. the police got the guys in cuffs the same day. if i was not wearing my helmet when i get hit by that putter that would have been the end of me. i owe my life to my helmet. i hope this story convinces all of you who read it to wear your helmet. you never know how it will come in handy untill it does.

As I was running cones down my favorite hill this AM. The inevitable happens. Yes that moment when the board slides out from under you,and you are airborne. Complete silence just for a few seconds, and then the camera goes to fast forward or so it seems. I hit the pavement, yes safety gear is on, roll on my left shoulder and end up in a sitting position. I sit there with that look on my face that says " I ate but I am okay, HA HA HA HA" nervous laughter ensues. I continue to slalom, could have been worse. Eddy Texas Outlaws.

I (a grom) was downhill carving on a 41" FlexDexs with Kryptos and Randal's when I just got going too fast and bailed in a run out. Problem was that I didn't jump and straighten when bailing and the board wedged in a gully; stopping short. I broke tibula and fibia (or is it tibia and fibula?) and spent 2 months in a cast to the crotch and another 2 months in a below tyhe knee. I'm back top the same hill (on Maui) and skating better than before... but more cautiously.
The main point of my story may be to be good to your friends. If Dino (MauilineLongboards.com) hadn't allowed me a couple of months at his pad, I'd of been up s#@! creek without a paddle. Now I can laugh about it all.

I was skating the Clairemont bowl, high on the adrenaline of placing 2nd in a female pool contest at Basic pool and just plain stoked that I'd learned to front/backside grinds so hard (the noise/feeling is magical), so fast........
Witnesses say I was grinding the deep end (my start of each run), rolled out, rolled back-in and in a panic (I'm definately not good enough to roll into a pool that's doesn't have a "roll in") bailed my board. My foot stuck, causing me to twist, then my head slammed hard cutting my face with my sunglasses, giving me a severe concussion, and shatterring my shoulderblade into 4 pieces.
I woke up in the ICU of our local hospital 2 days later, without recall of anything from my last skate session.
I VOWED TO MYSELF, MY FAMILY TO NEVER SKATE AGAIN WITHOUT A HELMUT - IF I'D NOT BEEN WEARING ONE (MANDATORY AT PARKS) I'D BE SOOOOOO DEAD!
Be safe, have fun.....eating s#@! is inevitable - THAT'S WHY THEY'RE CALLED ACCIDENTS!
WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR or die!

I realy suck at skating but all my friends are cool about it. They always bet me to do things so one time they bet me to jump off my garge roof. I ollied of and broke my right leg and shattered my knee. I then had to sit at my house for 2 hours until my parents showed up because my gay friend steven holly bailed on me. I bet him up right after i got my cast off. he really weak.

well i wrecked pretty hard about 8 months ago. my friends and i wanted to try something different so we made some tow ropes for my buddies truck. kinda like wakeboarding the pavement. we decided we would go up our favorite hills instead of down. it was freakin' great! we did that for like 1 hour. anyhow after our last run we decided to go to a friends house that was nearby. myself and another friend were still cruising on the ropes in the back and the house was close so we decided we'd just hang on for the ride. we were going down the road at exactly 53 mph when i hit the biggest worst placed pot hole in my life. all i remember is hearing a loud crack and then laying in the street. i jumped right back up, my adrenaline was pumping, and ran to go pick up my board ('99 sector 9 concave pintail, randall downhill trucks). i found it in two pieces. it ripped apart right in front of the back truck. since we were being pulled our weight was on the back so we didn't get pulled right off the front of the board, causing my front wheels to skim right over ond my back to catch the hole really solid. i wasn't wearing any safety equipment, i know thats not smart but, i don't really care. my friends came back and pointed out my wounds, then i looked at them and the adrenaline rush came to a quick stop! i got really light headed all that stuff had to lay down. my friends took me home so i could clean up. all said and done i grinded my right knee down to the bone right on top of the knee cap. i had road rash all over the rest of the knee, on my right arm, and shoulder, on my back, hands, and my left hip. i ripped an old longboarding scar off on my left elbo that was pretty deep too. i was really lucky nothing happened to my head. that wasn't the worst part. i guess i didn't keep my knee clean enough and it got infected. i had to go to the hospital and have it scrubbed out (<-hurts like a mother F'er) and get an IV drip of antibiotics every day for a week. i had a scab on my knee for 5 months, and now i have quite a wicked scar. about 2 weeks after the wreck i left home for 2 years to be a mormon missionary. that should give me time to heal. i can't wait to get home and board again! and being a mormon many will wonder if i am from utah, yes and they have some of the best longboarding around! if you get a chance you should go.
-peace out ya'll

I was skating with my friends one day after school. I seen this 13 stair with hand rail. I was going to try to 50-50 the rail. I hit my front truck on the rail and fell forward landing on my stomach breaking my ribs, and losing my pizza from lunch.

So I'm cruising along a biketrail with a buddy when visiting him in Columbus, OH and I start doing bunnyhops. Well, the last hop I tried was one too many cause I ended up grabbing the board too close to my back foot and when I landed the hop the flex from my weight caused the board to bottom out on the asphalt...with my fingers inbetween.

I have scabby craters in two of finger's now.

I WALKED AWAY FROM MY FIRST HARD BAIL IN YEARS. MY SON HAD JUST STARTED RIDING GOOD ENOUGH TO BOMB SOME HILLS SO I GOT A NEW LONG BOARD FROM BILLA WITH EXSKATE TRUCKS AND WHEELS. ALEX HAD A NEW SURF ONE WITH INDYS AND KRYPTONICS. MY FIRST MISTAKE CAME WHEN I DECIDED TO GO FOR IT FROM THE TOP INSTEAD OF WORKING MY WAY UP TO GET TO KNOW THE HILL AND THE NEW BOARD. ANY WAY ALEXS BOARD WAS ADJUSTED PERFECT AND WAS GOING GREAT. I HOWEVER REALIZED RIGHT AWAY THAT THINGS WERE GOING WRONG FAST. THE EXSKATE TRUCKS HAD THE SOFTEST BLACK BUSHING IN AND ARE NON ADJUSTABLE BY DESIGN. THEY ARE ALSO WEIGHT SENSATIVE AND IM HEAVY AT 240 PLUS POUNDS. ALSO THE SUPER TIGHT TURNING RADIUS MAKES THESE VERY SENSITIVE TO IMPERFECTIONS IN THE ROAD.AS IT HAPPENED THE ROAD WE WERE RIDING GETS ALOT OF TRUCK TRAFFIC DURING THE WEEK AND THE LANES HAVE A VERY PRONOUNCED CONCAVE WHERE THE TIRES RUN. THIS BOARD STARTED WOBBLING DAMN HARD IN THE CONCAVE OF THE ROAD WAS GETTING WORSE EVERY SECOND!! I TOLD ALEX I WAS ABOUT TO EAT $*IT AND ME AND THE BOARD PARTED COMPANY SOON AFTER. WHEN I FELL I REACHED BEHIND ME TO CATCH MY SELF AND SLIDE BUT ALEX HED GOT TO CLOSE AND I TOUCHED HIS SHOULDER AS HE PASSED.I DID A PERFECT SLIDE AND QUICK ROLL BACK TO MY FEET ONLY TO SEE ALEX LEAVE THE ROAD AT 20 PLUS. HE TRIED TO RUN IT OUT WITH THE SAME RESULTS THAT ANY ONE WHO HAS EVER TRIED THAT GETS. HE HIT HARD ENOUGH TO DIG ROCKS THAT WERE EMBEDED IN THE GROUND OUT. MAN WAS HE PISSED!! WE WERE VERY LUCKY TO GET AWAY JUST SKINNED UP AND SORE. LATER WE WENT BACK AFTER I GOT THE CORRECT HARD GREEN BUSHING AND WORKED OUR WAY UP AND WERE BOMBING WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE. OVER CONFIDENCE WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND AND WE HAD A BLAST. I WISH WE HAD TAKEN THE TIME TO PASS THESE LESSONS ON TO ALEXS GOOD FRIEND JUSTIN DOWDY! ALEX AND JUSTIN RODE THE LOCAL STREETS TOGETHER AND HAD STARTED BOMBING SOME OF THE HILLS. JUSTIN HAD LESS EXPERIENCE AND A FEW MINOR FALL BUT NOTHING SERIOUS. I WITNESSED ONE OF HIS FALLS AT THE LOCAL SKATE PARK AND IN NOTICED HIM GO OVER ON HIS BACK AND HIT THE BACK OF HIS HEAD. THE HELMET HE WAS WEARING PROTACTED HIM AND HE WASNT GOING HIGH OR FAST. IT SEEMED UNNATURAL ENOUGH THAT I NOTICED IT , BUT IT DIDNT SINK IN THAT THATS HOW HE WAS LEARNING TO FALL. WHILE TALKING WITH JUSTINS DAD IN THE PARKING LOT HE TOLD ME ABOUT SOME OF THE CHANCES HE SAW THE BOYS TAKING AROUND TOWN,AND ALEX GOT HIS ASS CHEWED ALL THE WAY HOME. THE VERY NEXT WEEKEND JUSTIN BOMBED A BIG HILL TO SHOW HIS MOM WHAT HE COULD DO.FOR WHAT EVER REASON HE CRASHED AND FELL THE SAME WAY. THE SKATEBOARD HELMET WASNT ENOUGH AND IT CAME OFF IN THS FALL. HE DIED THAT NIGHT FROM MASSIVE BRAIN STEM INJURIES. REAL HELMETS ARE A MUST IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO THIS SPORT. ALEX AND I HAVNT BOMBED ANY HILLS SINCE BUT WE HAVE FOUND A GOOD NEW SPOT CLOSE TO THE HOUSE AND WERE PLANNING TO GO SOME TIME. WHEN WE DO ILL BE REMEMBERING ALL THE LESSONS IVE LEARNED AND ALL THE ONES POSTED HERE

So i Have learned something in 15 years of downhilling. I dont know what u americans think of Martial arts. But what ever it is You ARE WRONG. The Chinease Developed A very Unique way of education. This method is called Martial arts. Martials arts Teaches Ur CYP2D6 Sigma Recepter ok for u people that dont know the human body CYP2D6 Sigma Recepter Is housed in your liver, It is the first thing that develops when u are conceived It Is also called the Inactive Brain or Subconsious. Martial Arts Make u do something so Repetative That i go into Ur Short term Receptor to the Long Term Receptor then off to the PhotoGraphic Receptor, Thats 3 outa 4 recepters in ur Brain, The 4th Is the CYP2D6 Sigma Recepter and ur liver and livers filters protect it. in other words u could blow off the head to a humman and keep feeding that headless body its food and nutrients to keep it alive, just in the human eye a human is not alive if there active mind dont work. Any way Martial arts takes Knowledge That is so Repetative That it goes into the CYP2D6 Sigma Recepter and the CYP2D6 Sigma Recepter Burns THe infomation into the Instincted Memory Banks, So In other words U dont evan Have to Think about somin to do it, Thats why learning to defend or fight in martial arts is so popular. In My skate boarding life I used martial arts to master A all ready Perfected Gravitational Stop. Years later after My Real Bad Crash I implied Martial Arts Into Crashing. I trained in crashing at slow speeds. And now if u look at the post i left below this one that tells about only 3 high speed crashes i have had 15 years. And u can see how this martial arts helped. First Crash was the slowest but most deadly 2nd Crash was f#@!ing bad luck But i still walked away on my feet with nothing more that about 7 2inchx1inch road rashes And a cut on my glove hand from the strap, Then u will Hear about my 3rd Crash Which i literally walked away with out a scratch, my shirt and pants didnt evan Get dirty. I did get a minor Bruise.

My High Speed Crash History has involved 3 high speed crashes in the past 13 years. The first one was acutally rather slower but i was on like a 25mph cruise speed skateing downhill to the movie store. The movie Store had 2 steep Drive ways That i everyday about i would go down. Well One Night ya know so its Dark, I was going down the drive way and speed anywhere from 20mph-30mph and that day they had JUST decided to put in some Nice Bran Spankin new Black Speed Bump to Go with there Spankin new black parking lot. Must i finish????? Yea u Guessed it i ate ROYAL s#@!Got this very bad road rash down my body and got put into a coma for 2 weeks. And the sad part is that i was not evan bombing just going to store. That happend about 6-7 years ago.
Then my 2nd high speed crash was just 2 years ago. I was just flying down this one hill, up and down N s#@!. Practiceing My Gravitational Stop at the bottom showing off infront of abuncha road workers. And at the bottom of this hill was the Park way so i would stop about 30 feet from it. Well On my 5th or 6th run i was going down it every thing seemed fine i was wearing some snowboarding gloves for Slidestoping/Gravitational Stoping and i was getting ready to to the s#@! so i put my left hand/glove on the nose of my board when one of the gloves tightening straps goes and gets locked up in my right wheel. Alls I know Is that i heard this very loud RIPP Then A loud Snap and there i was rolling down the street getting all f#@!erd up, i would have to say i was going faster than that first crash probally 35-45mph. After i rolled about 4 times collecting multipull minor Road rashes on the way I magikaly found my self on my feet with a bloody hand cuz the strap f#@!erd me all up when it ripped. So i go Grab my skate and i did not break the kinpin which was what i thought that loud metalic snap sound was, But i had broke the axel in half right were my right wheel should be was completely gone. But i was lucky took me about 4 days to recover.

The last High Speed Crash I had was about 4-5 months ago AND OH MY f#@!ING GOD, nah f#@! that i was god at this point in time, None of u will believe this so I am going to put The footage of this crash on videos Today or tomarrow, But it was about 3am-4am Me And my Driver, u know shuttle up the hill guy were out at Skyline Summit In Bend Oregon I was Hanging on to my driver window getting 30mph-35mph boost from the car before i hit the front side of skyline summit, i hang on to the driver door to see what my launch speed is. Anyway on like my 8 th run i got a 34-36mph boost from my car and as soon as i pushed off the car to get ahead of the car i hit like an weired rut or somin in the road threw me into a wobble, not a speed wobble just a weight imbalance wobble So i did not want to get jacked so i start to do the Gravitational Stop, But i was in this wicked wobble, And so like i go down on my ass pretty hard enouph force to give me a mean bruise, and kinda i dont really know what else happend other that i was slideing like in a intension stop But the whole time i think i am About to get really hungry and the pavement was my breakfast Then once i hit maybee 8-14mph my board came to a complete stop in intension style, I go Flying off my board gets all Scraped up And i stand up Feel all around my boddy make sure its still there and s#@!, coulda lost my dick, but instead i got a bruise abour 3inchx2inch on hip, got no road rashes no cuts or anything else, I had my Driver Check my back side and he told my my shirt or pants didnt evan get dirty. But i have learned Something Threw my experience on Crashes I will Post Seperatly.

Last weekend I hit some local hills, and ended up at an underpass which on one side has a nice steep descent to the bottom and a gradual ascent on the other side. The underpass road has always had a beat up surface, but the town has another skatable hill since it's been paved. Oh yeah, and it's got a drainage grate going across the road at the bottom.

Now the grate is easy to negotiate as long as you hit it at an angle, but that day I ended up with too much of an angle and too close to the right side. Not really noticing the sands on the side of the road, I cut to the left only to have the board slide out from under me. That's about the point when I'm going my fastest too, and I hit hard. Of course I got up, adrenaline pumping, and pretended like I wasn't hurt. I hit the hill one more time before I left, just a liiiittle less aggressive that run. Got some nice road rash up my left side, and my bum shoulder now hurts ten times worse. NOW I know why it always hurts so much...from all the falls when I was a kid. Anywho...

I was riding my Economy Surf Rider with 180R2s and Gumballs and this was the first *hard* fall I've taken...so far.

O .K. this is what I did in vegas. With the car behind me , I checked up with it so it could give me room. The two cars coming at me was the big deal because I needed that lane badly. So I whent head on at them and throw a great big carve from them to the lane I was in.Only had one way out, the Hotel parking lot with a car turning out of it. I thank god for all the years I speedboarded because I need all of it for sure!I whent from on coming cars to cars behind me at 40 mph into a hard left with a car coming out of the hotel parking, shot the gap and won , THAT TIME! WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!I have always been lucky and that is as faw as my luck could ever good, will not roll the dice that hard again.Maybe because I was in sin city the gambling gods let me live to type this , WHO KNOWS!With skateboards and hills, THINGS HAPPEN SOOOOOOOOO FAST, DO OR DIE STUFF!I DID AND DID NOT DIE, SOOOOOOOOOOO LUCKY!o YAH , MY CELL PHONE WAS RINGING ALL THE WAY DOWN THAT DEATH RIDE, IT WAS MY SON JUSTIN!
NEVER TRY TO OUT THINK A SKATEBOARD, it has a mind of its on, forsure!

I came down on my face with 4 stitches in the lip and road rash up and down the arms, he got a ripped up back and a deep cut to the bicep

iTS THAT TIME OF THE MOUTH AND i DO HAVE A STORY.
wORKING IN lAS vEVAS AND WAY BORED.sO IN decided to try my new turner board, its not for downhill just tight turns. I have been racen downhill for 8 years or so and had not lid with me or pad and was just bored to tears. Started riding the parking lot and it was the best, downgrade and fun as hell. Two bike guards came up behind me and I saw them out of the conner of my eye.My 1st instinct was to skate away and have them catch me.Then I was thinking hell at my age they would catch me the 1st turn so I stoped! They told me NO , not here but I could do it on the next street.I was thinking cool , its on again!
NOT!The other road had cars and I had a few beers, NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
sO i started having fun there, next thing I knew was I was doing 40mph on a turner board. It gets speed wobs at 35phm.I was in touble, A car hehind me and two cars in front and I was afraid to put my foot down with two intersections coming up and cars coming out of the hotel at the same time. For the 1st time in years I was afraid!

First time ever on a longboard a few years ago-
Me and my brother we trying to bomb a hill- he fell first, but landed on his jeans-padded ass and was fine.
I gave it a go- and to say the least, got a lot of speed and went flying. I ripped a lot of skin off my arm, but i have a wicked sweet scar now and i've loved longboarding ever since.

I also posted this at S&B

so every night I take my dog for a run about 3 miles(she runs fast and pulls me on my skateboard)a couple of times on our run I see this giant St Bernard no leash hanging in the front yard his owner a older guy is usually there but last nite his wife was out front with the dog so I think no biggie it never bothered us before so were giong about 15 mph and the last second thes dog runs out if front of me my board goes underneath and I hit it dead center with my shins I fly almost straight up my feet slam into my back and land on my chest and the top of my knees
I knocked all the air out of me and can't breathe the whole time this lady is rappidly asking me are you ok? can I call an ambulance? do you want to lay down? can I get you a glass of water? like not even any spaces to reply (I couldn't replay anyway because I could not breathe) finally she says I'll put away my dog. So I pick up the s#@! I dropped and get my dog and just split. the worst part is my wife and kids are gone for a week and I was gonna hit the parks last nite today and sunday and now I can barely walk f#@!in dog!!!!!!

Been longboard speeding for 4 years and first serious bail

to be the last ride of the day, long time hills run in sun light gleaming on black tarmack the smile of a new board underfeet and the smooth caress of springtime breeze, bombing a hill for the first time new conditions and board, asian man stops car in middle of curved hill grade, forces me into patch of cobbled pavement ending in an abrupt rise in the pavement, my stable steed leaves me wobbles then jets out from under my feet and I fly, slap plant stall with hands and cross spine roll and crouched in the three point stand hand on knee and palm to the earth then I am on my feet again, I stand and clench my fists squeeze to feel the bones still firm shake my arms and walk firmly with my legs I lick my teeth and feel no beaks in bone or blood in mouth, I smile, I feel lucky I feel grateful, not just for this smacktacular bail but in life, to have friends like I do, enjoyment of life and a love that makes tomorrow worth beliving in. The sky is blue as red drips on green and my friend picks up the board and walks towards me glazed in bewonderment. I wish to reach out and hug him but I am dripping the sweet red blood of freshly torn flesh and covered with a sheen of pavement. best bail ever...

after painting some models I went out riding again after c was so nice as to clean me up, first hill I run to gain my confidence a young girl backs out of her driveway blocking me off then running into me forcing me off the road I smash into the dirt ditch, and roll over smiling and saying "the irony is this is the second time in an hour this has happened", I more or less tore all my cuts bigger and crammed dirt into all of the open wounds. The first bail I would guess I was going 30-35+ the second bail was only severe because I was already f#@!ed up.

injury list

right hand palm 3 major gashes, pinky knuckles all riped open
right elbow torn to shreds
left hand index knuckle and pinky torn, small gash in palm and three cig style holes in wrist majority of left forearm all road rash, left elbow f#@!ED
left shoulder road rash bad
tailbone bruised
left and right knees both open
left hip bruised
boxers ripped
ufo's shredded
wu tang shirt so torn

two major bails in one day, man it was a good day in soo many ways

really though I bombed sooo many sweet hills today and had such a good time that yea, the s#@! hurts but pain is worth the expirience.

things I didn't cover I should have, getting my tats started next week at stay true everything cool with them very cool guys, got my landyachtz l0ongboard 2 days ago, made slider gloves out of the gloves that I was wearing when I smashed in my nose and a cutting board pulled my first 180 slide, also modded my lib tech with airhooks I can now get air on a longboard I have done standing arial 180'z and 360'z put bowl wheels on my lib tech for sliding, fixed up my dcs figured out what was wrong with the bearings.

notes to self...

1. Never bomb a hill on the first run
2. Never bomb one lane roads
3. Learn to power slide
4. ALways wear slider gloves
5. Flow with life living it to it's fullest

alright, thought i'd write it down just cause i felt so stupid but i know it's had to have happened to one of you before. just bought a 38" sector 9 and me and a buddy have been going out to the hills around my house. we made some gloves and i can do a coleman slide now, anyway, i wanted to see what it looked like so i put on my sliding gloves and had my brother film me do a few slides on the flat in front of my house. pushed up do speed, did the slide but my mistake was when i went to use the kicktail to turn back to normal stance, my kicktail is short so that if you lose your balance your foot hits pavement and that's exactley what happened, so i lost my balance at like no speed and went down, i put my hands out to stop me from falling, but b/c of the gloves my hands slid out, my arms crossed, and my elbows ended up stopping me and leaving two nicequarter size cuts on each one. but for real, the gloves saved me to other day when i slid for a ways on just my knee pads and gloves

BRIAN ROGERS R.I.P. - Hey all of you that don't wear helmets and pads so you can be "free", read the vendors forum/slalom forum/safety forum from the last few days, death could be your fate also. I did't know Brian other than one phone call on monday afterwhich he shortly died. Great guy, full of stoke, I wish I knew him better than the one phone call. He'll be greatly missed by friends, his wife, kids, and parents.
