Acouple of friends and I decided to go bomb some hills today.. we picked out a nice long stretch of downhill backroad.. about half way down I decided I was going a little too fast for really loose trucks..I had my rII's super loose.. ok but anyway I start to go into a coleman slide when all the sudden I get some wheel bite and go superman into the pavement, now it looks like I got drug behind a a truck attatched to a rope..

miniramps are fun, the kind of fun you can still feel the next day!! I was skating the mini at the new skate spot in Santa Cruz, fun spot, late last night and became one of the first few people to do a faceplant there. There were three other dudes there, one even let me borrow kneepads so at least I was sorta using my head. I was using an old santa cruz jeff grosso with indys and 60mm slimeballs, and trying to do a smooth rock n roll because my ramp skills are not happening. After a few tries I thought I had it down, then some dude was trying to do it frontside, then I did the same. I don't remember what happened except for trying to roll fakie and getting launched , I rolled then slid on the knees, but still had to absorb some wood with my face. Fat lip that's all stiff, I chipped two teeth, not bad but gnarly feeling, and the tip of my nose got burgered. What can I do about the tooth thing? Any skate-dentists out there?!

i let my cousin ride my fairly new greenbrew slalom board with some just purchased 150mm R-2s. he was coming down this side street and a MUNI train car was coming, my cousin bailed and ended up with only a bruised elbow. but my board, my poor board. it got caught in the wheel of the train and dragged about 3 blocks before it fell out. one of the truck's axels are bent, 2 wheels are chewed up and the deck has loads of scraches on it.

A bita drinking AND IN A FEW BEERS when i decided to ride a hill on my mini skateboard [ 50 cm wiht rollar skate wheels for trucks and wheels] Half way down got major speedwobbles and decided to abandon my expedition. Got off alright but i thihnk the cooler filled weith half a case of beer in my right hand and teh half drunk in other slowed me down..and lost my feet and landed on my shouldnt and rolled... Lucky as i was then nearlly hit by a car coming down teh supposidly blocked off road and i only sustained a few grazes on hands, knee, shoulder...cept fucken sore side! Soo lucky thatni didnt roll into the glass of my smashed beer and lucky the my other cold gold did not break [ god bless foamy cooler bags] That was it..lets jsut say its is always brought up at parties when the question what is a stoopid thing u have done? comes up. Just chill and dont drink and skate

i haven´t met many guys who won´t try to out-do me when they find out i downhill skate. i once knew a guy who took one of my boards to a big hill to show me that it was no big deal to go down. the guy couldn´t skate really well, had no clue what to do when he had speed wobbles. he did a 20 mph faceplant and skidded about 15 feet on his side. the guy was messed up for a month, huge abrasions in his side and elbow... but he still talks big about it, and how he downhill skates. what´s up with the ego that many guys feel the need to challenge a girl?

I was saddened to hear about the passing of Endeavor 1. Everytime we step on our skateboards we take a risk. Is it worth it? Yes. To all of Endeavor's friends and to his family, may he rest in peace.
Endeavor 1, my next skate is dedicated to you and memories of you.
Sincerely,
Cliff Coleman

Bad news for the entire world of Speedboarding. One of the greatest pioneers of the sport has passed on to a better place, where the hills are all newly paved and there are no cars. Except for when you want to go someplace far, in which case you use a flying car, above the speedboarders and out of their way. Endeavor 1 was bombing a very long driveway and on his way out into the street he hesitated on using his hand signals, unfortunate because an oncoming razor scooterer had no idea which way he was turning and decided it would be best to bust a DDT on him at 2.3+ mph. Well needless to say, his phat ollie double faked into the ground and took Endeavors life with it. Endeavor 1 is survived by his son Challenger, daughter Butch, and his two fathers. Peace out my nigger, heaven style. From all your homies in the heezzee down at the A&E Liquor/Carwash in East L.A.

Theres only 7 people where I live that I know longboard, I live in eastern PA. About a week ago we were doing our normal bombing routine, the second to last mountain we were hitting is called Peters Mtn. About half way down we are doing about 50mph when all of the sudden a car came flying up the stretch pushing Cambell off the side of the road, he managed to get back on but couldnt gain his control back. Right now he is home, the extent of his injuries are real bad. broken arm, compuond fracture in his wrist, and he hit his head hard enough it looks like he has a softball in it, thats how he got his severe concussion.
Nomatter what anyone says, even if you think you are a pro rider or that you can be the odds and it could never happen to you, always were a helmet. You'll never know what is going to happen and if it does are you going to be ok. You doint have to listen to me but read the stories on this page, hopefully they get better than head injuries and deaths....LLL-(Long Live Longboarding)

I've been studying pretty hard for these comp sci. exams which have been an up-hill incremental battle to aquire understanding, one layer at a time. I dream of inventing an algorithm or two one day, with my name stamped in some text book, like my mentors.
Skating a windy course the other day, it occurred to me that one good f**k up and a head injury means this whole career is over. It doesnt take much to screw it. So of course I too have a helmet.

Hey DT, i am sorry to hear that story, its really a bath of chill water, we are here for a reason and we can leave without our consent and knowledge, so we must be prepared for everything and always wear our protective equipments, even if we are going to the corner no matter what pll says, its a good thing that you have paramedic knowledge and maybe its a good idea that serios ridrs make this kind of courses.

Yesterday, i had taken Flindt home in San Bernadino and was going home on the Ortega Hwy. It is the 2nd most dangerous highway in California full of winding turns through a canyon with sharp drop offs etc, etc. As i was coming home I came across a down motorcyclist. There was already an off duty firefighter and an off duty EMT on scene. I quickly parked and began to assist them. It was real bad. This young man (about my age in the early 20s) was racing his sportbike and was dropping a knee through a turn when he hit a reflector that was just outside the road, this caused him to either layit down or high side into a solid gaurd rail at speeds easily in the high 80s+++. His bike was about 20 yards away from him and he was unconsious with massive amounts of blood everywhere. His pulse was weak and shortly after i got there he stopped breathing. We began cpr but were unable to get any air in due to the high amounts of blood and fluid in his airway. We had no suction and he had been there at least 20-30mins. Shortly afterwards his pulse stopped, local firefighters, forestry, chp,etc showed up. They tried to revive him but it had been too long and the internal damage was too severe. This young man passed after only living a very short life. It was a real wake up call. We are only here for so long and then its over. Live your life to the fullest. everyday.

This thursday, right before the last day of school, I was involved in a high speed crash. I was speedboardin' with my friends, and all was going well. My last run that day ended with me crashing into a brick wall at a 45 degree angle at about 30 mph. I suffered a concussion and many scrapes to my body, and two chipped teeth. Luckily I was wearing a helmet, which probably saved my head some (despite going unconscioud for 1 min). It all happened because I tried moving my front foot to right above the front truck, which made me lose my balance. As I tried to regain my balance on the turn, I found I was heading straight for the edge of the road. Oh well, at least I'm alive. Remember people, always wear a helmet, cuz you may not live to regret the day you didn't wear one.

Last week i got a cast off my broken arm, yesterday i almost broke it again Im relatively ne the longboarding and i thought i knew what speed wobbles were and i thought i was pretty good, i saw this awsome hill on the walk home and i decided i'd try it later with me board. So i came back a few hours later with one wriste guard for my recently broken arm, i figured, just incase i do fall i dont wanna re break it so i hop on my board and was carving a little but obviously not enough, My board started to wobble real bad and i started to head for the grass but it shook really hard and threw me off. So as im in the air preparing to run and not fall, i land with one foot back on the board and it slips out from underneath me. I slid on my elbows and but and hit my head.
So i went to the ER to have my arm checked out. and they said nothing is wrong except for a massive swollen bruise on my right arm which now is the size of an orange and i skinned my left elbow but nothing really else except for soreness all over. Im going to go get new pads that fit this week end and knowing me ill be back on the top of the hill.

alberto's post is wrong, I know i gained more than 2 feet on him cause i couldnt see him at all then he gained some speed and tried to squeeze through and he said he tried to push me, well, he didnt touch me till he pulled me down and then we fell. Im not sayin it wasnt my fault but he should have yelled not pulled and i gained more than two feet cause i glanced right when i passed him and he was all the way behind i should have looked again to see where he was. I also didnt cut him off cause i went in a straight line from the apex of one turn to the next.

That's nothin' compared to how I fell Yesterday. I must have been going around 10 mph when I hit a rock and fell. I tried to roll on my side but instead I just cracked the side of my skull. I had road rash on my hip and I was shaken up the whole day. I couldn't move for 15 mins. And that's with a helmet. And leathers. Falling feels worse than I thought it would.

Today me and myfriend were racing on a hill. we were neck& neck until he got the inside of the first turn and i lost about 2 feet on him, but luckily i had my best wheels on my best trucks and as we went into the second turn he cut me off.( He doesn't really bother looking around for hazards)so i was stuck between him and a fence. well evidently he closed in on me and i could put my foot down because i would just be riding with him. well he fenced me in(i had absolutely nowhere to go. so i gave him a little push just to say hello. Our boards rubbed wheels his launched infront of him. he slid on his ass for about 20 feet(conservativly)And i ended up flying over him, on the way hitting him on his noggin flipping him forward and this flipped me as well. so now i'm in the air.(i have absolutley no idea whats happening )Then i hit the ground headfirst(had a helmet) then came my shoulder and rist and then came my feet above me where my knee and hip smacked the ground. I was stunned, i couldn't hear for a bit and i was spazing a little. i came out with a severe headache. hopefully a sprained rist(hopefully)bruises on my hip, knee and elbow( i was wearing pads too)and road rash on my shoulder. my friend just has a "strawberry" on his ass as he may call it.all this with no leathers
