I've heard a couple of rumors lately that might actually be true:
Tracker will introduce the Stimulator II in the near future, maybe as soon as this summer.
Kryptonics is no longer pouring Radikal bushings. Radikal is seeking another source.
Anybody know any more about these bits?
P.S. - P'g: I badger him too, just for fun

PSR - Interesting, I did'nt know about those Californina State Code plastic legal issues. Do you think Tracker made the Stimulators "in-house"?
I agree, they were way ahead of their time, I still use Tracker Aggros(another moment of silence please......) with Stims in them on one of my pool/park decks. Best bushing for that application as well in my opinion. I guess the vast majority of skaters still want to remain "techno" and have their trucks not turning by our standards of turning.
I agree, the "niche" aspect of turning(longboarding, racing, slalom, etc) is probably the key point. As long as the majority of skaters and those "how to" videos keep propagating the idea "the ollie is the basis of skateboarding", then the demand won't be there to turn the tide until turning/carving becomes more desired again.

CAM- Gezmer said he's even thought about making something but has to figure out how to make it cost effective. Khiro may try something sometime, but they would have to change their formula to something more expensive. Tracker doesn't want to be involved in getting them made again(I believe they were contracted out just like their present bushings probably are).
SC- Thanks for the tip, I'm familiar with that method, I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. Actually I have a small stock of yellow and green and blue Stims as I forsaw the Tracker Stimulator famine before it happened so I really am doing OK in the bushing department, plus if you cut Khiro Barrel bushings into small 1/4" to 1/8" "donuts" and stack them on other khiros of the same hardness, it gives a good swing to the hanger. But the real truth of it is that giving CHAPUT "the business" about BUSHINGS has just become more of a fun hobby for myself and Capt'n Dave M. I'm sure he'll make them someday. Adios - P

Stims, why not?

Cam, there's apparently some issue with the old formula, either it's not available, or possibly not allowable (California does regulate certain Plastics manufacturing based on enviromental concerns). I don't know which, if either. Everything has been hear-say, and while I've posted enough here, Tracker never has made a reply to me, though they've added info here upon occassion. It could also be that maybe even the original molds are gone. None of this would actually stop Tracker from creating a re-issue run, rather it comes down to whether it's worthwhile for them to do so. Longboarding, but moreover Racing skateboards, is still a 'niche' within the sport. Luckily, that hasn't stopped neither Radikal (who get their bushings made at Bravo/Kryptonics) nor Jim Z from making new, and pretty decent, FAT bushings. It's a great concept, and Tracker was way ahead of everyone when they issued the Aggro trucks back in the mid-80's, which came with the Stimulators to begin with. I've been running them (Stims, that is, I keep the Aggros on oldschool Pig decks) on Luges and DH Bomber boards since about '88 or so.

P'wog: I make those bushings right now from 77mm Strikers, a 1-1/8" or 1-1/4" hole saw, a 3/8" bit, an arbor drill press and a file. I still use the Stims that I have, but there's no longer a need to seek out any any more.
I do need a better dust mask and goggles. That urethane dust leaves a grungy feeling for a long time.

Sam from NY - I believe there will be multiple hanger widths for both downhill and slalom with multiple angles of baseplates to pitch the hangers at multiple different steering geometries, all of which was planned to be interchangeable.
I've seen and ridden some slalom protoypes at the Dixie Cup, they're basically doing things the same as a PVD or Seismic but in a different way. The prototypes were superbly machined. Whether the same machinist will be contracted for the trucks for sale or not I have no idea. The interchange of hanger/baseplate is pretty straightforward looking.
That's about all I know, I have no idea about how soon they are planned to be out, However I will continue to enjoy making silly barbs at Chaput until he (cough) actually puts them out with his er, umm, (cough) nice tall high rebound BUSHINGS to replace the venerable Tracker Stimulator BUSHINGS(a moment of silence please). -P

Thanks for the CC update lb. Really more interested in tracking down over-all truck information more than that specific to his trucks and parts though. Perhaps after the deck traditional and composites construction resource is released in a version 1.0 later this summer (the final portion on vac press assembly is now in write-up and kit testing), a truck compendium can be considered.

I'm not CC but I do happen to know for certain that the machined trucks are coming. Not by this afternoon, but soon enough. Don't ask me how I know or my source will be busted
The man in question has been digging himself out of a glacier in Chile for the last couple of months. He'll thaw and return. Don't ask ...
A compendium of truck design would be great. You should start it. We can all add to it. Thanks.

Have not heard much from Chris on several fronts. But sort of inline with that comment and the current more general conversation, does a solid resource with documented results from the copious designs and improvements to trucks such as they are in this day and age exist? There are plenty of singular sites with bits and pieces but my continual searches turn up little by way of a top notch deep resource that is easy for the masses to use. You can spend a ton of time, material and money on what are supposed to be the next best things but realistically, some straight forward improvements satisfy the 80/20 rule in spades. However using the search function here or at large on the web leaves most more confused than before one starts searching. As with others, I have my thoughts on what many of those improvements are. So the question - Is there a fairly up to date unified compendium out there that can be sourced? - is important to me personally. Folks are continually throwing their cough, sneeze, whizzle, blech, feh into the threads to be buried in pretty short order. Now admittedly, cough, sneeze, whizzle, blech, feh at the expense of others can be enjoyable and satisfying in the short term but looking beyond that, I want that library of Alexandria resource where some of the longer term solutions are archived to help me out in my own development efforts. Course if I was in Hell, I'd want ice water too but if a few bones could be thrown into the thread my way, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Just $0.02 from yet another guy with at best, a minor league record.

Gullwing made a 15" wide Pro III truck a few years back but it's no longer in production since they've been bought out by Sector 9. That's the widest truck I've seen. You can see it here. Click here for link

The Gus is a fast turning truck ideal for front use on a tight board. I used one on the front when I raced at the worlds when I won the Open tight. To me they are like a Lazer, Bennet or Indy but with an improved feel of accuracy due to the pivot bearing. The bushings are conical, which is interesting, but I replaced with Khiro Blue and Whites.

mike, search 'gus' in the archive.
I like the way they turn, quick on center, deeper lean,
the bad part, wobbly at speed, I have heard some people have broken the pivot, (my pivot pin have loosen over time) and axle is undersized compared to others.
I have read that Maurus race on them with good results.

Sorry I haven't riden the alpines I thought I had on a friends board but those were the gullwing missions. the alpines look alot like the randals, are they both 50 degree baseplates? anyway I think I'd stick with randals even if they were good , I love my randals so much if I switched it would feel like cheating on a girlfriend or something. the same kinda feeling a true nintendo fan gets when the play a playstation. I didn't say they were bad, they might even be better. maybe...
ryaneta, the randal 180's are good for alot of things but unfortunately randal doesn't make wheels... If you want a "sweet!" wheel for them you could go with the abec 11 gumballs in 75a or the sector 9 bomb hills (81mm) in 78a (I think thats what they are.) anyway are you looking into downhill racing or just carving and cruising mostly?
