I have a Powell 70g Quicksilver with yoyo's and tracker trucks. I think the trucks were called "full" - anyone have any idea what this might be worth. Condition is excellent.

John, woulda emailed you directly but no email address given in your question. So on the site for the world to see :-----) 1) Use google and type in Lords of Dogtown movie props. Lots and lots of ideas for contacts to seek your prize :--) Nothing that says "John I am selling a Zepher Deck", but leads. "Leads, LEADS!? We got 7 detectives working in shifts, Leads!" then laughs. Big Lebowski (hysterical movie line) 2) Type in ebay Lords of Dogtown Skateboards or other clever search words. One seller, primeremovieprops see completed item #310015719243 might have some ideas for you. Look at current and completed auctions and what else the sellers are selling. Some may have what you want in their quiver not shown on ebay. Email em and ask. Or maybe they know someone. I would email those whom seem to be in the movie prop biz or lords of dogtown prop biz. Hope this was helpful for your sherlock skills. Vintage Man

I am here trying to read about 5000 posts and now I'm not so sure that my old board was a warptail. It was about 3/4" thick and about 28" long. It had a sort of wedge attached to the deck that was the kicktail. It was a little more than 7" wide with a 4" stip of grip tape running down the center. There was a classic Gordon and Smith sticker on the deck and the G & S brand on the bottom. It had Bennett trucks and OJ wheels, which I think was standard in the 70's. I am not sure. I got the board when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I am desperate to get another one as close to the one I used to have as possible. Any help you guys can give me would be swell.
Thanks again, Doug ok2fear@yahoo.com

I am looking for a G & S warptail from the seventies. One with the classic Gordon and Smith sticker on the deck and the G & S brand on the bottom. I had one growing up with Bennett trucks and OJs. I have seen a few recently but had no luck buying one. Can I get any help here? Thanks, Doug

stroker on the brain

i keep thinking about different ways to put that twist in the hanger, accurately and consistantly. The hanger could be made in parts and bolted or even welded into a that angle. It's actually an angle similar to a wedge pad, putting a wedge under a stroker would increase the amount of steering by adding a little of lean to steer into the stroker's linkage steering. It would also be kind of cool to try a bushing system or a torsion bushing system for the hanger.Slowing down the steering is not rocket science, i'd just like to read someone else's explaination for a change.

i think someone i know can weld titanium, maybe stainless,i think i might do 10mm axles 170 to 180 width, maybe make one long ,thin, welded up baseplate that carries both hangers, out of ti ,yeah! I think i'd need to buy a vise with an anglable base to get all the angles on the hanger the way stroker made them. There are two ways to slowdown the steering of a stroker,,,,i'd like to see if you know.

i used that pic almost as a blue print, i think it was a front and/or a back view,i folded the printout to match the angles when i made my angled supports for clamping the metal blocks. I made the steel parts, the axles/steering knuckles,so they would interlock just a bit so they wouldn't need to be fixtured, a friend of mine that did welding at a transmission rebuilding company did the welding, perfect. I made pivoting piece(not the axle) longer than necessary so it could be clamped in the lathe and bored out for 688 micro bearings(remember those)three per corner, the main pivot/hinge regular 608's i had no idea what stroker used but i just wanted an absolute quality assurance(so to speak)the linkages were bought from an aircraft supply they are not the upper upper grade but i think my linkages alone cost more than a pair of original strokers did. I couldn't see the front to back angle that the steering knuckles have,it's hard to tell how much difference it makes, my trucks are considerably different than the original strokers they are about 9 inches wide and a bit taller, the flat wire, die striper springs i used are longer and more leveraged than the originals. The really lucky part of my trucks is a certain syncronicity; the springs coil bind(bottom out) at about the limit of the ball joints, i wouldn't begin to know how to figure that out an make it happen on purpose. My trucks steer extremely sharp, i can ride in circles around the clothing racks in my store. They pump from a very low speed, from a standstill actually, and they still work fine.

Herbn,
I think you made a set of Strokers from the pics I posted on here years ago, is that right? I've just looked right back, its on the second to oldest page in this section, back in 1999, oh gosh, how the time has flown. The pics have een removed by Adam as the links are there, but no photo's anymore.

re zak .for a change, a major milestone for me, i klicked on your blue link to email direct, figured what the hell play the game of keeping our stroker making secrets as a private e mail,AND i get one of those messages, from my compter,"file to big for aol, use another application" i don't know what that is and whether i clicked yes or no i just kept looping back to that message ,then i ctrl alt del, the bitch and i stared as the little page that monitors computer processes ,the percentages of cpu use or something like that ,at this point escaping, went back to the two choices goog old standbys;a)giving it a bang with my fist like the fonz,or yanking the plug out of the wall, went straight to b,it worked ,and when i restarted things appear normal. SO much for ever clicking on any link, these new fangled things suck, last week learned how to delete the million cookies i get, mostly from going to this web site, this week i learned not to click on emailing links.

interesting observation, there's an angle to the steering knuckles that's not so obvious from those pics, could somebody put up a sideview pic of a stroker, there's a front to back lean angle, i think it would be called rake. That's a bit tough for me to replicate in my rather minimal primative workshop. I have made a set of strokers with out that angle and they seem to work just fine as a sharp steering super responcive truck. If i was going to try to make a high speed stoker i know how to slow down the responciveness but nt being able to include that angle sort of takes the wind out my sails on that project. i got very lucky on my first set of strokers, and i own a not so mint set of originals.
