Hopefully I have not put up these pictures before... Was referenced by BASEBALL in his discussion. It was MINTY NOS when I was putting it up on the rafters.... Fell about 4 ft and I was on a ladder so could not throw myself on the ground to block the fall. Now has a very slight dent on one end and some scratches you can see on the sides... Guess its called Minty now :----)

The dream board... back when I was collecting, I had some polished Gullwing Pro 8s and NOS conical Snakes waiting for that Andrecht to show. It never happened, and I could see it never happening, so I sold them (I think you can see them at skateboardpimp.com now!) and I fell out of collecting to concentrate on... ya know... RIDING the boards.
Nice board.
That bottom left board... did you get it from Creepsurfy off the 'Bay? It's a Toft-a-like, but I don't think it's the real thing.

Got it from a guy who's brother owned in Tennessee. Can imagine him sending in the famous Val Surf coupon and ordering his deck!! No internet paypal type stuff like today!! Ordered least expensive complete he could and still was $46 delivered!! I believe the following to be accurate...The specs 1977 Val Surf Oak KT skateboard deck 27" $15.95 ACS 500 Trucks $4.95 each Cadillac DK 38 Wheels $4.25 each and $3 to deliver... I kept it orignal. Cleaned it, light clear stain, armor-all grip tape, and added a oil Beewax when dried out... SWEET looking I think...

Back in the early to mid 70's I had this Sims board,I had the only one in my town. Southampton Pa. I bought it at a Swinn bicycle shop in Feasterville on Street road.(have NEVER seen another one)on any website to date. It was natural wood color(I think oak)and came w/o griptape,it had Sims on the bottom in red,had wheelwells and was a pintail. I had Bennett's Hijackers with Sims bowlriders and red riser pads. I did jumps and NEVER had problems with cracked baseplate's. Anyway I looking for a picture of one,I would like to recreate it or ever buy one.

Here is a reply to Uffe Meijer's reply of 3/24/2008
Hi Uffe! Thank you SO much for your reply!!! It's been driving me crazy not to know what board I have bought. I have actually e-mailed pictures to Deb Gordon at Gordon and Smith (as it has a Gordon and Smith sticker) and she answered that they never had made a board like this and that probably somebody just put the sticker on. So all of a sudden it became a mystery board. Btw I'm REALLY SAD that it turned out not to be a Gordon and Smith board:-(
I bought it from a shop i Stockholm, so it's not unlikely that it is a Swedish board. And they said it was an old board. Forgive for asking but are you sure that ELAN skateboards were made in Sweden. I have no idea myself, the reason I ask is that the company with the same name that makes skis and snowboards is Slovenian (former Yugoslavia). Maybe they just happened to have the same name?
I am now editing my post and thanks to your reply I have Googled for some time on ELAN skateboards and finally found this thread on another forum. And you were right!!! My board is definitely an ELAN according to the pictures in this thread. On page 3 a Swede says that ELAN skateboards were made in Sweden on license to the Yugoslavian ELAN company. Don't know how to add hyper links on this forum, but here's the web address: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/bulldogskates/vpost?id=2387292&trail=15
If you have any more info on the ELAN skateboard brand please let me know. Thanks a lot Uffe! Thanks to you I now have peace of mind;-) and a SWEDISH vintage board:-D
All the best:-) Lars

Here is a reply to Lars Ljungstrom ( 3/13/2008).
Hi Lars!
I'm 99% sure the board you got there is a ELAN. They where made in Sweden during the late seventies. Yours is the largest version. They also made slalom and freestyle decks.

I AM NOT ADVOCATING that one do this... Heck I sold the Wizard Wheels to the guy who sent me these pictures...I will admit the difference is SPECTACULAR, and if for show, will really stand out!! I have no idea how they hold up. He brought to a boil. Stirring every minute 5 min, turned off heat and let stand 2 hours... Then repeated process. Wash cold water dry... OH BE IT KNOWN He was sipping a spiked glass of fluids as I have recommended during your vintage refurbish efforts. I will advocate strongly for this in your procedures :----) Enjoy the before and after pics!

Cleaning Up your Vintage Trucks

So was contacted by yet ANOTHER motivated vintage bretheren as to what I use to clean my trucks... Well, 2 pictures attached. Its a 10yr old hand held power drill from sears, and I use both or one of two grinders, or whatever they are called. One has softer bristles and is not attached. It gets into the nooks and crannies better than the other. But that harder bristle one is my killer!! I use it for 90% of the job/truck. I take apart the truck, wash everything with ajax and hard sponge. I often apply some thick paint remover to vintage bushings for 1-2 min max, to remove 30yrs of oil. BE CAREFUL not to burn rubber or your fingers. I do over the sink. I then go back outside the house and hand hold or with needle nose pliers hold the nuts, caps, etc... I then just grind for about 20-40 min total time all the parts... I ain't no real man with tools. So you can do this with little or no errors if I can and do!! Pics attached of my tools... Very simple... I get it in excellent condition with an hour or so of effort... Herbin cool Banzai story... You must have been rich? :---) You had $40? I bet you had a real job though! I was picking up poop at the local Junior Museum Zoo for $2 per hour every other weekend... Not to mention you are 25 yrs ahead of me before I ever knew about the good equipment!! Never knew the painted Banzai was more expensive. Cool hands on experience story! Thanks.

my first store bought, i paid 45 bucks i think, like an extra 10 for the polished red, as opposed to brushed,my dad thought i got ripped off and threatened to have make me return it ,but i'd already used it. Other early memorys of that board ,i let my brother try it on this fairly fast church parking lot, he wobbled ran a bit and ate asphalt,i ran to the board to see if it was ok. I rode that board into a deadly weapon(sharpened nose and tail)it started with the stoker wheels, it got up graded to road rider twos, then bennett hijackers, which converted themselves into acs 500's as parts broke.

I keep this Logan in my office. 27" Bruce Logan with Tracker Fulltracks and Road Rider 4's. It was my dream board back when I started skating around 1976. Got back into skating about 5 years ago and have a bunch of boards that I ride now but one of my favorites is my Logan reissue with Tracker full re-issues and Retro Zigzag 66mm wheels. It is a blast to ride!
I have bought and sold many cool vintage boards over the past couple of years but will hang on to this one forever. Vintage Man - Great collection!! Rob

So here is the replacement for my original Black Knight from the early 70's. They are fairly common on eBay but not with the tan wheels which are what I had. I had to wait for quite a few to come up before I got this one which is identical to my original. Pis was taken in New Bedofrd Ma, Corner of Maxfield and Foster, 1974. Bobby Brady shirt, Bell Bottoms and Pro Keds were provided courtesy of Mom.
Thanks to Vintage Man for encouraging ALL of us to dig into the past to see where we're going.

I told my fellow vintage collectors I paid $250... Stunned silence! I had expected a; atta boy, how did you find this!! Versus I guess beauty is in the eye of someone who paid too much!! Its all original parts, juniper wheels, juniper trucks, 30yr old factory stickers, etc, etc... So nadda feedback on that Banzai picture I put up?? :---) Lordy, that was the envy of every child on my block :----) I had a wood knock off hobie like everyone else, made in wood shop!

I have just been mouching around my actic and found a work of Art. It's my old scateboard from the mid seventies. I think i'll build a case for it and just oggle it... Far to old and decrepid to do anything else with it. If i remmember rightly this was the most envied combination around at the time and even way back then cost me an arm and a leg. I show you some photo's but don't know how.

As mentioned I get my trucks pretty shine-knee with the old hand power drill and some cheap wire brush type of thang.. But to quote the guy who did these ACS I attached earlier, and I admit his were pretty spectacular. Better than my efforts.., "you have to get a high speed bench grinder. I hit one set of truck for about 45 seconds each with taking it apart, all metal parts shine up like new!!! Other set took me about 45 minutes" So say hello to his litte friend Al Pacino Scarface

ah the wirebrush on the drill, you gotta watch that you can inbed steel particles in the aluminum, after wirebrushing you might wanna sand with emoery cloth,220,400,600... mothers polish and i've heard coating them with petrolium jelly, seals aluminum for a while.
