Vintage, I Oopsed, thought those orange wheels were Orangutans!? Sorry, didn't read the markings so well.
Green Gators just seemed to be the right color..
So, any guesses as the year that Turner was made? Rumor has it that mine was late '77. J.G. rode the it a good deal, and it's performed very well for me (though not competitive anymore, except in 'vintage' class races), I even got it up to (mind you, being clocked by my wife's Mustang speedometer) 55 mph just outside of Saratoga N.Y. while running Fulltrackers and SuperMundos.

YES THE BOTTOM AND TOP ARE DIFFERENT COLORS per previous question.
Teal Blue, or sea foam green its often called...
Its a lime green on the bottom...
As to the Alligators... I got those sitting around :---) :---)
Got me 6 minty pairs NOT :---) :---) Now had minty Belairs though :--)
Great Idea,...Just impossible for me to find or afford anyway...

Hey, Vintage, is that Turner as diffrent in color top/bottom as the latest photos show? I had seen the earlier shots, and had thought that the coloring (in those photos) seemed eerily similar to what the original coloring of my Kostabi-(by Giorgi)-formerly-J.G.-owned Fullnose. I had to go back, and look where Giorgi's paints had worn through. It is quite close to your topsheet (though sunfaded enough to more closely resemble 'school-bus-interior-green', oy..), but is that one color, not a more olive-green that I see in those last shots. So, without a color-true pallet, this might be a moot point...
Any notion of just 'when' Bobby made yours? Oh, and nice setup, although I might've gone for either Gators or Tunnels, just to be closer to whole 70's vibe (albeit 30 years late...!). You definately got a good deal, but moreover, I think those boards ended up at a 'good home', as they all should.

Curious...I own an original (c. '77) zflex (I believe the deck was called "original")board, blue w/ tracker mid track trucks and white Yo Yo Pro wheels w/ original sims german racing bearings still intact. Still rolls and rides great and in very good+ shape. I bought it in I believe 1977, all new at the time. Value? I am not looking to sell

Somehow I stumbled on this blog and have spent the last hour reading and remembering times when things seemed to be simpler. I think I had a Maheraja Deck ACS trucks and Sims wheels. But the board I really wanted was a Sims Quicksilver. I can still see the add today, pretty forward stuff for 1977. This rich little bastard in my class got it for Christmas. I remember a since of pleasure the first time I saw him butt board down this little hill that emptied into the school’s parking lot….all money…..no skills. Oh well thanks for the memories.

BoBo. In answer to your question, David (Smitty) Smith is the real deal. I have been in contact with him for a while and bought two of these boards from him directly in February this year. They are the real thing - incredible as it seems, these decks have survived in perfect condition in Smittys garage for over 30 years! He's a great guy and very genuine. Hope this puts your mind at rest?! Enjoy those boards....

i've seen that one or one just like it , the guy said he knew bt and turner made it for his son(then an infant), is it for a very light weight? might be the same guy. This was here in the nyc area but the guy sounded like he moves back and forth a lot ,(annual bicoastal) very interesting.

I was a little excited when I posted the firt time so i chilled out and took a breath...
The seller is dsmitty54 out of San Diego. He says that he worked with Bobby T back in the day and got the Old Stock stuff he had when they pulled up stakes back then. is there any truth to it? his feedback is good [though low].
The Buy It Now was so low it freaked me out a bit. They do look like period correct Turner Cut-Aways to my eyes. The colors are some I have NEVER seen before though. They come with 2 new stickers as well. Most here know I'm a Turner nut with [I'm not mentioning numbers here] a few in my stable. I have a Turner Blackbird from 78 with wheelwells [1 of a kind] among others so I've seen all I thought I'd ever see. I saw these while I was at work and thought WTF?? Is that right?
So here I am with these two I am commited to buy for what seems a paltry sum to me. My question is....
Is this guy legit? Is this a scam? It seems OK to me [I want to believe that] Am I the luckiest buzzard on eBay today?

I remember the huge wooden ramp and taking second place in the 15 - 17 ams slalom. I went up there with Dennis Martinez and he took 6th in the Freestyle. It's the first time I met Ellen O'neal and we became fast friends after that. HMMMM, what else? Hanging with Eddie Katz and seeing inside the Logan Team motorhome, trust me you just don't want to know.
You should look into old issues of Di Dootson (Rose's) National Skateboard Review. She was there and I remember a big write up. You can probably find them posted up somewhere through Google, etc.

I believe the Hawaii decks and Surfer Mag decks
I believe are all early issued and late 1970s issued AMPUL Skateboards.
The Goose Skateboard, I am not sure who made. I have seen the ads in old
mags but forget manufacturer...
Juniper deck is a Juniper Skateboard... They had huge color ads in
Skateboarder mag!! Not sure if many of them Juniper sold...
Hawaii decks have first series ACS 430 trucks, the goose
has ACS 500 trucks and the Surfer Mag has MINTY 500 first series trucks.
Juniper is all original OEM Juniper issued product!!!
Most of the wheel sets are from that 1970s late era and
got matching colors of course!! Questions, Comments, FIRE AWAY...

i've been watching this Q, and thinking(oh no)If your taperkick is beaten ugly,as in obviously mishapen, a nose bone is just gonna look ugly and won't really work. If i had a taperkick (i do) and i had to keep riding it (i don't/wouldn't)i'd tackle this problem with some fairly advanced woodworking,kind of machining.I'd find some ash,even though taperkicks are poplar,the ads said ash but all ash i've seen is tougher than taperkick wood. i'd rig up a system for holding the front of the board in my milling machine,probabely bolt something solid and square in place of the front truck.Then i'd machine the very end of the board flat and then have a step,kind of an under cut,then i'd make my piece of ash fit into those steps. Glue everything together with epoxy and reshape the end of the board close to new,sand and regrip. While i'm at it a glued on 7 ply tail skid,blended in,would go on there to.
