Lazy, hazy, and warm fall afternoon. Carving down the reservoir access road in the sunshine. Backlit silhouette of downtown off in the distance. Sharing the shuttle driving among four.
17 runs = bliss.

dogs bark far away, a freight train blasts its horn at a crossing, weeds grow through cracks in baked concrete, a coke can half full, placed away from danger, reward for the next attempt

Freedom, the only true feeling in my heart. When I ride I can forget. Let go and be me. Because it is free. Well not exactly! But you see, it is the feeling I get, and I have found nothing better yet! Beleive me I am free. You see when it is me and my freinds, or maybe you and me, I think you will agree that we all can be free! So when the wind is deafening in your ears and your eyes are full of tears you will see.

Saturday morning I was walking up our hill, hoping for a ride. A couple picked me up on their way to get their season ski passes (the hill goes to the ski area). They were stoked, looking forward to a winter of beautiful snow. We rounded a curve to see 5 or 6 guys carving their longboards. They stopped or made room for us to pass. I jumped out at the top and rode down, carving through the woods. Pulling up at the bottom, the group of boarders turn out to be a local rider and his best friends. He's getting married up at the ski hill in an hour and they need to get up there and put their tuxedos on. He gives me a ride up and goes to get married. Seeing these guys together, some having flown in for the reunion, stoked after the ride down, very happy, seemed like kind of a soul experience.

Santa Catalina Mountains. Oro Valley, AZ. Walk out my parents door, take a right, cross the street, and put my pintail down, it's a long, long downhill run on gently sloping buttery asphalt. December 2002

Soul... Every morning I take a ride to school, only a few blocks away. I close my front door and think, "I'm way too tired to ride, I'll just coast the whole way." That is my problem. Once I step onto my silky smooth 45", I have a change in thought.. I must go fast, I must carve deep, I must slide hard. This morning commute becomes the daily vitamin I am addicted to. I'm in class all day and can only look foward to my next ride.
Some people go to church, others meditate or yoga... We Ride! enJoy

The car, the car, I didn't see the car. I was rolling round the curve but I couldn't see that far. The car, the car, I didn't see the car. I swear I wasn't drinking when I skated from the bar. The car, the car, I didn't see the car. I was carving, sliding, and tearing up the tar. The car, the car, I didn't see the car. I know for a fact I'm going to have a scar. The car, the car, I didn't see the car. I'm going to be dead like an ancient Russian Czar. The car, the car, I didn't see the car. I never will know that my ashes are in a jar. The car, the car, I didn't see the car. I soon will be bombing the beams of a star.

a poem about longboarding...
i freefall on wheels like angel's wings.
the wind a sweet lick across my skin
her gentle fingers playing with my hair
the earth pulls me swifter down the hill
i feel as free as a bird
full of life
i am the surfer of the black road
me and my soul ride
one with the gravity...

My desk has rollers and wheels, the mouse glides across the mat. A glance toward the closet, my board creates the feel. May be old but ignore the cracks, few more rides before it retires. I dream of seanic highland and slick black rivers, one of these days I'll be out, there where it matters.

to taste the speed, and catch the stream; gets rid of milling; which leads to spilling; and provokes just chillin;
So let's roll like fluid, where speed is free; from hills, to slopes, and bowls, we slalom; we're born to motion, Isn't that frickin' awesome!!!
a long board as my base; this world I'll forever trace cause' all that I need, is "to let me BE."

true true.... but with that theory then friutboots would be an even more free feeling, but its not, I think because you still have two feet independant of each other, like walking on wheels, the board makes you part of a vehicle thats not really a vehicle, you have to ride the board, not too feet.
The longboard is the perfect tool to feel the soul, the life that animates you and me. it dry in seattle and I don't got a job...i'm goin skatin. L8r everybody

Yo dudes, boarding is like flying, when theres not a care in the world, you sorta unfocus, relax but pay all your attention to the present thinking nothing of future or past(a basis of samurai phillosophy =) Its like I feel when surfing but that in itself is like flying or floating. I try to explain it to others and they say that the feeling of now'ness and peace is somthing able to be found in any medium of transport.
I believe that because of the proximity between you and the enviroment you are interacting with, the sensation of one'ness is greater, the feeling of connectivity, also due to the fact the slightest movement of any of your body will cause an effect to your motion on the board, your body awareness is heightened.
I believe that board sports hold somthing special over other forms of motion, I think that while you can find the focus/freedom/conectivity in other mediums none excell in all areas as much as the board of long.
My friends cite that when they bomb a hill on the mountain bike the feeling is the same but hell, they dont longboard so how would they know and I reckon the bike is another mediator between you and enviroment, a greater one than standing on a board.
Peace Brau's

G- I haven't made it to Kona yet. I'm not into going by myself although it may lead to that. I'm having trouble getting friends to go. Busy shcedules and all. My work slows in the Fall and with all the groms back in school. I should be heading over there alot. I have been scoping and shredding hilly areas around here. You know how Florida is, tough to find hills. With the St. Johns River flowing right through my area there are some hills. Most roads that lead to creeks or the river have some sort of grade to them. The DT for Life deck with the Kryps is awesome!!!! I love it. I got some Abec11 No Skoolz for it, for use at KONA. There are plans to go this week but you never know with my wishy washy friends. I went to the link to view your quiver, it said that the album was locked and a password was needed. I got yet another Dogtown...well actually 2 of them. First I got the Jay Adams Zipperhead Pool Deck and Jay told me only 1000 of them were made so I decided to just keep that one as a collectible. The other one I got is the Pool School model - I put Indy 9's and Bones SPF's on it. I rode it down the street but those hard wheels make for a rough ride. Strictly a pool and park board for sure. Oh yea, also got a Mike V and The Rats deck from Outlookskates.com- Only 100 of those were made. The CD rocks too. Well, gotta go to work before this hurricane hits.
