I layback for them Level 4, no sign of the heat Level 3, overtake me fool and I'll gouge your car for ya Level 2, whatch this! SCRREEEEEEEECH!! Ah nice.

Dropping in alone... My friend couldn't make it Walking to the top, I smile at kids and gardeners, Breathing the cool evening redwood air Feeling better now I push off Steep drop to the saddle Going fast! Over the hump it's carve time Swooping towards the T!!! Hard right Into the last drop Sliding Accelerating Rushing past an oncoming car I finally step off And get behind my own wheel For a much nicer ride home...

Pupils Widen,
Vitals Racing,
Starrin down this steep grade,
Swallowing fear,
You push off,
Seconds, Haulin Ass
No return, no stopping!
Speed dominants you
Demon bumps, you ride over.
Twitches of adrenelin rush the veins of courage.
You ride out of it.
Your spirit is free!
You destroyed the wall of fear!

hOdad! You poem continues to really make me laugh... *and* appreciate the simple joy I get from just gliding and leaning into turns.
In a very stressed out day, more and more, I find myself driven to get in a few runs as therapy. And it always seems to work!

It's homecoming at ole Mizzou. The oldest homecoming in the country. The home of homecoming. I'm gonna go give it a skate. Some nice little hills between here and there. 44 inches of Freeride Crosstown away. Torsion controll with 76mm kryp to cover the cracks.

You need some milk from the corner store? Out of toilet paper? No, seriously, it's not a problem, just let me squirt in some WD and put on these new powerpaws and I'll get some, really, it's not a problem.

Thank god for longboarding! I just got my first board a few days ago (Sector 9 Super Cruiser) and now I can't stop. Smooth carves up and down the street, just watching the world roll by. I used to think nothing could compare to surfing, but this is pretty damn close. Nothing is better than taking a break from studying for a test to just go flow around the block to clear my mind of all the things that don't matter. And that's what carving does for me, helps me remember the things that truely matter, the things that we lose sight of amongst the troubles of daily life. I now consider myself blessed. Starting out slow, hot sun beating down, glistening sky, illuminating my view. Note the solitude, quiet humming of the wheels, smooth and rythmic, on the perfect pavement. Bending into every curve, sending my soul into every move, carving evenly, as the pace quickens. Taking in the surroundings, though they start to blur, stopping's still an option, adrenaline keeps my going. All thoughts escape me, plunging faster now, concerned only of the speed, instead of the daily foes that pound my head. Solitude, Serenity, Utmost simplicity, Creating my escape.

5am, god's gift to longboarders, there is no better time, the air is still, the temperature cool, and all you can hear is the whir of urathane, and the laughter of mates at the bottom.

i've been checking out the soul-speak posts for quite awhile and always love to see the spirit, and positivity of it. i must agree 100% with cliff coleman on his post, it's all about skating. no matter how you ride, or what you do, it all begins in the same place. whenever i meet younger sk8ers i always try to tell them its not about the clothes, music, or hairstyles, its about skating.

Ahhhh, the joy of an empty parking lot. To the average eye, it is nothing more then space...and to those with grain under their feet it is whatever races through the mind. I just finished a 3 hour session in a large parking lot. Really nothing more then flat, smooth asphalt with the occasional parking block. It's times like this that remind me a skater can "create" whatever the surface.

my soul brothers, can any of you think of one skate session that was the most soulful skate exsperience you've ever had? did you know it was the most soulful exsperience you've had right after the session? i'll start it off. its a lone skate ses on a cool calm S.F. night. i'm on my mini flexy carver with rubber 8balls. the road is fairly steep and narrow. its long enough to make your calfs hurt at the end from carving. i had gotten about 2-3 runs in. about half way down the hill i see a car coming. i turn off into the sidewalk thinking, damn another car, making me stop skating. the truck stops and the driver yells out the window, "hey man, keep riding, i got a longboard to, but not like that." i said thanks and finished my run. ahhh, everything falls into place. peace, not war!!!! david

Nothing but the hill, you, and your trust in the wheels. This is the lyfestile that rebuilds your spirit. At the top of the hill, you are at the beginning again. Ready for that long and winding road. Full of holes, gravel, and concaves. Ready to throw you off beat and off rythm. With time you dodge more, and with age you remember the rythm
Don't forget about the double holes 200 feet from my driveway and keep it rollin'
