ok, i just had to submit my own nomination for riding tunes. good ol' Dave Matthews Band. plenty-o'-tunes and most of the albums are good enough to play straight through so none of the hassle of skippin' lame tunes. another one is Stabilo Boss. you haven't heard of them because a couple of the guys go to my university, gettin' local attention. interesting note: Stabilo Boss will be one of the opening bands for Dave Matthews when he comes to GM Place here in Vancouver, BC. kudos to locals gettin' the big break. anyways, those are my tunes. one other good disc, Collective Soul, the blue album.

Yeah, I use headphones, though I feel kinda stupid sometimes. I only usualy use them when I'm the only person out. I use a cheap MP3 player with neoprene cover, clipped to my belt (this part's deffinately stupid). I find a good place to store stuff you don't want broken is cargo pockets, they usualy get away pretty clean.

Here's what I do:
I take an ordinary kitchen sponge (just a spong, not the kind with a "scrubby" attached), and some magic markers. Markers come in many colors. I even use the kind that smell! Take the markers and color the sponge to look like an MP3 player. (you could even get a round sponge to simulate a CD player. I even used a huge sponge to look like an 8-track once!) The sky's the limit!...maybe even a couch cushion for you scratchin' homeboys! Anyhoo...when your done with that you can attach a piece of string from the sponge to some earmuffs and Voilla! Unbreakable????....Oh yea!!! Hop on you're Skateboard (I personaly use a Razor scooter, but to each his own.), and start groovin to the music in you're head. The beautiful thing about this setup is the added cushion the sponge provides. (put it in your back pocket!) I know what you're thinking...."an MP3 or cd holds way more music than my head" well... this is true but with a little practice you might surprise yourself. I'm already up to 3 songs!!
GET UP & GET DOWN!!!!

I usually use my cheap Walkman CD player (on sale for $30). At first I thought it would be far too dangerous to wear headphones while riding, and I still think some situations are, but for the most part I haven't had any problems. Oh, and there's absolutely nothing that compares to pumping uphill listing to trance and seeing the New York skyline come over the horizon. Then right as the music gets faster the road starts to slope down towards the city in front of you…enough of this I don’t have school today, I’m going skating.

Do many of you out there listen to music WHILE you ride? I've been a little afraid to: afraid I might not hear a car that I didn't see, and afraid that a wipeout could break my Walkman Pro (not cheap). I ate s#@! on my mountain bike one time, had my cheap Walkman clipped onto the back of my shorts, and I landed right square ON that sucker. That hurt my spine, and totaled the Walkman. Where and how do you carry your tunes along? I would love to have some vintage surf music pounding through me while I carve and bomb.

Ok, #1: Music. All-time most soulful ride was coming back from a friend's place, listening to Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit. I've also been dieing to try out a live version of "Hotel California". #2: Ladies. We're not going out, but a girl moved into my dorm a while back. She longboards pretty well, is into punk rock, and all-around cool. We had a sesh last week, and it really ripped deep and to the core of soul. Yeh, it was good. #3: Random fact. My buddy played in a student film here in the college, and I tagged along to watch and be an extra. People filing in... I'm bored... suddenly, there's a mass moving down the isle. I look up, and see three beautiful ladies walking down carrying sectors! I was in heaven. Ah, yes! Beautiful people, beautiful music, and beautiful runs... What's better?

Just put together my first Turner! The on I've been waiting for since the 70's. My hands were almost shaking with excitement. I still have a steady, low level adrenaline rush going that is recharged every time I look at that beautiful beast crouched on the floor like some wild thing. A time machine to be sure. I would like to give thanks to the Grand Pubah of the infamous KHRT PsychO LoYd for bringing to my attention a skateboards ability to shift the space time continum. The tarmac beckons. sk8 hard...

For soulful smooth carving try Ex-cowboy by Mogwai, very chilled. As for the girlies...best has to be a now ex of mine. It was about 1am and I could not sleep, so I went out onto the road in front of my house just practising wheelies on my 40" board, she pulled up in her car, she was just turning up to see me on her way home from her friends house. She had a little go on my board, then we drove into town and walked to the top of a NCP car park...clear night, stars shining, city lit up below us...and the smoothest tarmac in the city....just for us...I taught her to longboard and we sat chatting, sharing a longboard for a bench seat....fantastic. Hmmm...may have to give that girl a call.....

bless my wifes heart, she cooks (sometimes) doesn't complain about me skating, patches up the wounds, watches me surf in the cold coastal wind and says " you really ripped" when i am to surfing what britney spears is to hardcore punk music. as for musical tastes, i had this conversation with a mate last year, what music is the most groovefull on a downhill blast? i went for led zep for smooth carves and the circle jerks or black flag for sketchy runs. he went for gram parsons and earth wind and fire? but the most soulfull music on your earphones has to be tibetan chant.

Hey BoBo you like 70's punk/Brit stuff ? was listening to the Jam early tracks, some of those have attitiude i.e. Bomb on Wardour street turned up loooouud! I've recently moved and just finished setting up 11k (UK £) worth of British and French Hifi. Soul for me is to be able to sit in front of a Hifi, forget its there and be in the front row of the Hammersmith (London) Odeon. Feel the base punch you in the chest and the guitar riffs/solo's burn your ears. David Hasselhoff bbblllrrr!! care for some Lemmy or the ozz man. By the way never got round to playing guitar but roadied for a good rock/metal guitarist friend for a while. Chief marshall cab lugger and pyro man!!!

True love is an empty road. Here is a fun game to play. I hate taking out the garbage, so I decided i would take my board along and skate it to the dumpster. (I live in an apartment) So at first I just skated by the can and tossed the bag in and cruised on. Pretty tame. Then I decided to tear out on the tarmac like a madman and swing the bag over my head and burn allover the lot. I 'll launch the bag and BOOM!!! nothing but net! sometimes I miss and, oh well it makes a mess, but it does get me out on my board in the winter and that is what matters! Has any body played the Playstation game: Championship Surfer? Is it worth buying? Any tips? Anybody got any sweet music picks to share? I got a C.D. w/ David Hasselhoff singing "Do You Love Me"? for Valentines so I need help, please. Cheers- bObO.
