Well said Misterbill

There way to much BS in our lives already and we sure don`t need it here. All this bashing does is take away from what we (I`m taking a broad stance here) as longboarders, slalomers, soul-carvers, want from this site....to share across the electronic link our mutual love for the sport.

Let it go guys and go out and skate. And if you can`t do that then take it to a more private format, ie; emails, phone calls, or in person.

Adam,

Can you remove some of the posts below?
Thanks, Brady aka "Scabs"

Price fixing is one hell of an accusation. Considering the legal definition of "Price Fixing" is important when you make an inflamatory remark like that. Obviously you just threw around a term that you did not understand in the hopes of distracting people from your poor arguments. (NOTE: This is known as "The Red Herring Falacy", where the author uses an argument that is inflamatory and false to misdirect the readers attention.) Two operations that agree to not low-ball each other is NOT price fixing. If so, what would you call MSRP with enforced restrictions from the manufacturer, like "Minimum Retail Pricing". I suppose that would be "conspiracy" by your definition.

If you have "a bone to pick" with Marc, Rene, Mark, or Glen, Fine. I have had great service from each of them, but that does not mean your opinion is invalidated. Take your complaint directly to their email box and stop cluttering up the boards with your mud-slinging. Of course, IF you used email instead of anonymous posts you would be identifying yourself and subject to the ridicule of others.

Everyone has a right to stand up for their own opinions.
But if you can't do it "In Person"(ie-identified), then sit down and shut up!

All of this "Bashing and whining" is why many of the "old regulars", who posted with wisdom and courtesy in the past, have dissappeared. They have little desire to participate in this kind of trash. And frankly, I am getting pretty sick of it myself.

marc, so on the price drop of the Response.
First you say you were "responding logically to competion" THEN you say "We keep each other in check out of respect by not low balling each other on anything ever."???
If I'm to believe the last post, what you and Solidskate are doing is called price fixing and it is against the law. You can get into serious legal and financial trouble for doing it.
Don't worry, I'm not a weasel, but you might want to clear this up.

Man, Longskate guys...you're just digging yourself into a deeper hole with each post.
New skate development by paying more at your websites??? HA!!!!!
And I've got a bridge to sell you in NYC.
Where is all these new skate developments?
Are you funding ABEC 11, BMW, Freebord, K2 secretly and not selling their products?
What about decks on the horizon like The Wicked?
Don't kid yourself or anyone else, the only place the money goes is into your pockets.
With the exception of the Flowlab, you currently aren't selling innovation, just rehashed boards from the past.

New Comets From Where?
On 7/24/2001 Misterbill wrote in from (64.170.nnn.nnn)

Solidskate, Poolskater and Purple Skunk will have them very soon. Yeah, the Comet site is down right now, don't know when it will be fixed.
The decks do indeed remind some of an SC Graphite. We have compared them directly and find that the bamboo cored comets have a tighter flex with a quicker rebound. If like the ride of an SC, you will love the new race decks.

New Comet Slaloms
On 7/24/2001 C-Money wrote in from (207.152.nnn.nnn)

Hey-I asked this on the decks page, too, but thought I'd throw it to the vendors. Maybe I'll write it on slalom, too, what the heck.

I'm pumped (no pun intended) about the new graphite/bamboo slalom decks (rumored to be shaped like the classic Santa Cruz slalom decks). I can't even get to cometskateboards.com anymore for info-the link at NCDSA doesn't work, either. The question is-will these be available at solidskate and longskate? Are you putting together a waiting list? PUT ME ON IT if you are! I just rode stevem's S/C last weekend, awesome deck!

cheez...thanks for the advise--just for the record, you don't see solidskate and myself bickering EVER, as a matter of fact, we sometimes skate together and have a great time which is how it should be. We keep each other in check out of respect by not low balling each other on anything ever. this keeps the value UP, keeping the manufacturers happy and providing them with enough $$ to create new and exciting stuff for US to SKATE. WHY? because we all have overhead and have to keep the standards where they are so we can keep on keepin on..Small sites with low overhead and low ball prices just damage the big ole picture, always have and always will, so save your $10 today and risk the non development of a future skate product. Your choice: cheese it or choose it.

Is this forum here so you vendors can bitch at each other?

Or is it to introduce new products and their features? The more you complain about eachother, the dumber you all look. Props to Glen for staying out of this stupid fray.

That's fine and dandy that you lowered the price. But that doesn't answer all the bitchin' about Poolskater's prices on the Randals. Why don't you 'respond logically' and lower your prices instead of making such a big fuss. Or do you have to wait for Solidskate to lower their prices as well?

Rene, does this mean you are 'low balling' the Response by having it at $79 when Poolskater is at $85?
I have ordered three times from your site and only received stickers in one shipment. I've never received a mag or other 'free kool stuff'. Who cares about the stickers anyway? It is only helping promote your site. It does nothing for me now but state I support someone that doesn't have the business sense to respond logically to competition.
Duane's post has it right.
As far as scooters on the front page go... I don't give a turd if Ernie and Bert are making monkey love on the page. Just get me my stuff at a reasonable price in a timely manner.
In fairness, my stuff from Longskate did arrive quickly and was well packed. I just don't dig people saying stuff that isn't true.

I have to say, owning and operating a good retail site doen't give you free reign to bash other small retailers. Rene, you've put a bad taste in my mouth. Bad mouthing the compotition and emailing customers (well, maybe just me) is pretty low. Even Coke doesn't say Pespi sucks and is doing buisness the wrong way, they just say Coke is the best. Pump your own site, but stop hitting on other guys. There are bigger issues to fight. If you really think he is cutting into your buisness so much with slalom decks and wheels you don't have, start selling pool decks and move on. Keep it buisness, keep it professional.

poolskater.com and other great skating sites
On 7/21/2001 BoBo wrote in from (151.196.nnn.nnn)

I think Rene's comments are valid and I certainly don't pretend to know exactly what happens once money changes hands between companies such as solidskate and say G&S. What I said and meant was simply that Mark is a little more "Cottage" and is available almost anytime. If I get an e-mail from another site it's been simply a confirmation type e-mail and nothing more. I haven't suggested that any other sites were inferior in any way. nor did I cast any aspersions to that effect. I buy off many sites and service has been great to excellent. Solidskate.com has been good to me and threw in a free copy of ILB to boot! I would be remise in my duty as a consumer not to point that out. That said I think it's all fair in love and on-line skate goods.
I support whoever has what I need and nothing more. If you got the goods you get my cash. The American dream.

This is the U S of A..if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen... I'll buy at the lowest price with acceptable service, so will almost everybody else. First is not always best, best price and service is best. Poolskater hooked into a lot of customers offering a product no one else had, the Stradas. Its only natural to expand on it.

After a customer sending me over to this web sight 3 weeks ago I thought I'd type out a quick message. I find the web sight to be quite informative and great way for people with like interests to share there views about slalom skateboarding. I've already learned from other how to improve my own riding. I appreciate the customers who have taken the time to thank me publically for the products we have sent them, we'll try to keep it up.
I would like to come to my deffense in a few areas. The first being to respond to low balling Randal trucks. I sell Randals $40 a set, most Indy's for $38 a set and the 101's for $36. Both of which I mark up for what I feel is fair to the customer. FibreFlex boards I try to keep at a price that will keep the market growing and allow for Deb to continue selling many more. Maybe lower than some retail sights but as I just checked higher than others. As for the slam of having pics of my family on the sight, well my answer is simple, my family is the most important thing to me so why not make them part of it. Most of the packing paper in our orders are crumpled up in my sons little hands. I did not start the poolskater almost 2 years ago to go after any other sight on the web, until I started advertising in International Longboarder last winter I did not know that longskate and solidskate existed. My goal in starting poolskater was to get skate and snowboard products out to the "older skater and rider" that he or she may not find at a local skate shop full of toothpick boards and new school hype. The products we cary are there because customers have asked for it. Rene I've sent customers to your sight before for Powell and Sector 9 products that I don't cary and never will, should I continue? I would like to invite anyone with conserns to email me at mark@poolskater.com I'm all ears. This will be my last and only post about other retail sights unless to promote something they have, lets not soil this web page with anymore bickering.

Extra, have u ever mentioned the fact that at longskate.com with every order u get free cd's stickers mag, and sometimes other kool stuff....like say a video's in vert, one that u cannot BUY anywhere...

my 2 cents....
Support the sport, both solidskate.com and longskate.com were at morro, that cost alot of money, ad's and riders that we support by giving them money for entry fees etc....I know that whatever deposit's that he may have put down will not affect the way production is run, (your speaking totaly out of tongue here), if he is putting that kind of money down he is a fool because a reputable retailer would invest that money into there site etc..
I just laugh at the scooter shot's when u get to the site, I think low balling the randal's at $40 is wrong, if his service is so great why have your trucks so damn low..
As for pouching images off of other sites that's unacceptable and if true deserves a Big Slap!

I think what Hamm's trying to say has lot's of merit!
Stick to the pool stuff the sport is small as it is and how many sites on the net need to sell fibreflex slalom stuff, when we don't even have a race series in the US. yet....

ps. u'r comment about phone calls

After reading some posts slamming Mark at poolskater.com I figured I'd chime in with my 2 cents worth. Mark is a dedicated guy and doesn't seem to be cutting anyones throat or involved in any shameless self promotion, even here where it's allowed! What he's done is simple. He gave large deposits to G&S, Seismic et all to get their products and support their efforts to get products to us sooner. Maybe it's his deposits that are getting things to us even quicker than if he hadn't. The guy's done right by everyone by all accounts and is available on the phone should you need to have a question about your order answered. Something that I can't say is happening everywhere. The guy orders lots of equiptment and sits on stuff that doesn't move quickly and in my opinion is what is helping growth in out little neck of the woods. I'm supporting Marks efforts to get gear into our hands and will in the future. I still buy off longskate.com and solidskate.com but I get a little extra with Mark and it's gone a long way to keeping me as a customer.
