Just thought I,d Put a word in for my friendly neighbours the Scots. Its a beautiful country full of people who like a drink or two,Stories of theft or violence won,t keep the yanks at home I,m sure and it would be a hollow victory for whoever wins if they where not there. IGSA rules aside Chris would have more of an advantage if he had designed a rain tyre! But he deserves credit for getting off his arse doing what I,m sure many of us have thought/dreamed of doing, good luck to his venture and anyone else who is similarly motivated they will never be rich but will always be proud of there achievements. Its also good to see Jonny endorsing rules and regulations I wondered from his postings if was anti-establishment but it seems not. Finally Brad these tapes that your selling Skateboard Kings & Alva vs Hester do BBC/NBC know or is copyright just an old fashioned law ?

Thanks to Jody/Jaws/Schnitzel, I am the proud recipient of a beautiful 45" x 10" special "tapered concave" blank pressed from 11 plys of rock hard maple. There's a nice flat area down the center of the deck, which I love. This is a heavy duty construction, our neighbors to the north know how to build a deck to last. I discovered it at about 3:00am on Wednesday, a wonderful b-day present indeed. This will be worth the extra time it takes to sand and finish it right. Perhaps it will become the first "Primecuts" prototype. Thanks again Jody, I love it.

Well well I visit this site forthe first time in weeks and what do you know? Sure enough we have Chaput once again slagging other riders, saying they must be scarerd of him, where does this come from? So whoop-de-doo youve been skating over 25 years so have I and a bunch of others. I have seen you ride and I aint scared. Chris , this is to you personally; Leave this shit attitude outside the UK if you come to scotland, we are not impressed. Scotland is a notoriously violent country and life, though not as cheap as in Bangladesh, is cheap. Glasgow and Edinburgh are full of junkies wholl do whatever it takes to get high one more time and £50 is a lot of money to them.
RE yer wheels, IGSA OFFICIALS RECENTLY BANNED A NEW TRUCK SYSTEM AS IT WAS NOT IN PRODUCTION, NAMELY 1000 SETS. I WILL BE EXPECTING TO SEE THIS RULING APPLIED TO YOUR OWN PRODUCT

Somebody get Billy Bob a snorkel. There's no air where his head is at, only gas. Hey, Mr. Bob, if you're drinking "generic" beer at a BYOB party, it's because you brought it yourself, dipweed. I've been alcohol and drug free for over 15 years now, sorry if you can't sponge a beer off of me. Perhaps expressing the truth on a public BBS isn't important to the man (or woman) hiding behind that pseudonym, but for those who can appreciate it, here is my cancelled check for yet another paid advertisement in International Longboarder Magazine. Maybe you'd like to call Michael Brooke and ask him about it yourself.
This is probably just as good as of a time as any to announce that Mike Moore from Texas has won the Abec 11 wheel design contest. He is a part-time graphic artist who will be receiving ca$h (in accordance with his hourly wage) AND wheels as a bonus for his extraordinary effort. If anyone wants to check out some of his work (or find out what he gets paid), check out this page.
It would truly be a sad day for skaters if I WERE to practice business as do some of "the rest of the companies". I'm not a guy with an MBA in marketing who takes a crap in a box and then ships it off to unsuspecting customers after paying pro riders to tell them that it's the bomb. I'm a guy who has skated over 25 years and figured out that if I wanted to get something done right, I'd have to do it myself. I'd have to test for it myself, race it myself and pay for it by myself, along with all of the travel expenses, dues and other equipment. That's exactly what I've done. Now that I have something worth sharing with the skating world, one of my goals is to sell enough wheels to try and make my money back. If I can turn a profit, more power to me, I deserve it. There is no question in my mind the products that I am developing are of the highest quality that can be found on the planet today. I wouldn't put my name and reputation behind them if they weren't. My dream is to put everything that I've got into the advancement of longboarding and racing equipment, and have the fruit of my labor help to pay the bills for my wife, my daughter and me. What is your dream BiBo? Do nothing, and try and bring others down instead of climbing to the top for yourself?
I have intentionally gone into the skateboarding business without accepting money from any sponsors to this point so there would be no confusion as to why I was using the equipment that I do. There are enough skate whores and BS artists to go around already, the industry doesn't need one more. I defy anyone to find even a single company that has paid me one dime to endorse their products in the last twenty years. The only products that have been given to me for free that I have actually used is one set of Seismic 135mm trucks (thanks again Dan). Everything (I mean everything) else I either paid for, or is still unused or was returned because I could not offer a favorable review. If I like something I end up buying it to avoid the appearance of bias. This is the only way I remain credible.
Also, to avoid the appearance of impropriety, I have changed the release date of the Abec 11 production wheels from today, April 11th, to May 1st, 2001. I have done so because I had promised to fulfill orders for my wheels on a first come, first serve basis, without regard to the quantity. This would place the entire inventory of wheels into the hands of fewer than 24 individuals outside of my company and would thereby provide an "unfair" advantage to only the few lucky racers participating on them in the upcoming St. George, Utah World Cup race and ESPN's X-Games Last Chance Qualifier on April 27th and 28th. The IGSA has a rule in place that allows them to ban the use of such wheels, and I don't want it to look as if I had only sold them to "certain" racers. When they get theirs, you'll get yours.
In a way, I am glad that there are people like "Billy Bob" out there. The source of his false statements are either due to his ignorance, which is forgivable, or is fear based, which is understandable, only if I'm on the right path. They say that life begins at 40, and today is my 40th birthday. My mom, dad, sister, wife, daughter and I are going to go eat some birthday cake, while Billy Bob's eating crow.

Herbn, those slide glove must of been before I found this forum. (Which is quite possible as I haven't been on this site that long.) I'd be interested in some of those gloves. Been thinking about getting some of you 8mm axles too. Been to lazy to look for your e-mail address though. How sad. Any way, $40.00 doesn't sound unreasonable to me. If I find your e-mail address I'll send you a message.

Deplo Slalom

Thanks for the NEW forum, Adam...Great spot to post updates on production and some new products. I would hope that if slalom is going to gain popularity again, someone would take the time to produce a REAL slalom wheel. They must come in different diameters for different gate/cone speeds, ie..the Morro Bay race may need a 62-64mm wheel with a quick responding edge. I rode the Aluminator Power Paws at the GRA races and they worked perfect for the slope and course there.
But since Deplo doesn't work with that kind of funding, I'll do my part and bring a new Deplo Slalom deck to the Morro Bay races. This will be a smaller version of the Calamari (now in two lengths 40", 48"). It goes along with the flat wood deck theory, which works great for those not hooked on camber/pop. The flex should work fine, even with the shorter wheelbase. I'm building them on a 28" length and will design in a slight cut-away for the nose to go with the distinct tail shape.
Hopefully, I will be bringing a new composite slalom deck to show (or ride) if R&D go well. A lot goes into figuring the (rider load) since your weight makes or breaks the board. I'll probably bring something 'average' flex for testing out. I really hope I have something to let people try out, cuz the composite technology is really interesting, but needs some real testing to figure out how much carbon fiber stripping works for different rider weights Last note: All Deplo boards are being digitized for CNC production. This takes a lot of manual labor out of production and allows for perfect boards everytime, and now I can add wheel wells to board shapes that need it. No additional cost to the customer either!
Web development is slower than the products, but keep tuned at: www.deploskateboards.com
