Anybody know of a wheel 70mm or bigger that is 95a or harder? I've been cruising the mailorder sites and don't see any.
Thanks Dave

these wheels are good for speed and some park riding, but not for streetskating or slides. problem nuber one: they get layers ripped off of them if you slide, and two: they are incredibly wide which makes them heavy

I used the hard 9-balls(60mm?) for the kona contest but they were too hard and seemed heavy. I then sold them to a friend for five bucks cheaper hat I bought them for and got flip 58mm speedcores. they are perfect. Very light and I don't need big risers, I just have dooks short stacks in and they are 1/4 inch. I ride indys with this so if you have different trucks you may need risers, but these really kick some major ass. ---Leaving tomarrow to skate at kona, I might post some pics on my website.

I have some World Industries Hellholes, they're 60 mm with a hard plastic core and a 99A tire. They're light and fast but a little slippery on masonite, they'd likely be perfect on shotcrete. Dunno if they make them anymore, bought em last year.

Well these wheels put me into a real hard carving mode, so deep are these carves that they're more like slides,my personal favorite thing is when front and backside handdown carves get linked like deep powder snowboard carvesThe only thing is you slow up real fast and the wheels are taking a real beating, one has a fairly nasty cone starting, but i flipped it and after it evens out i'll move it to a lower wearing corner. Though, they're all are sort of equal, just different levels of wheel hell.

The exkate company has risen to the top of poor customer service. In the saga of Mr. Lonecore, I have made repeated telephone calls to their CA offices, only to be assured that his situation was going to be handled. The one where he was charged $140 for a single set of turbos.
Each time I call, the people on the phone are very nice, but still, after many months, the problem has not been rectified.
So I must personally give them two thumbs down on customer service. I would suggest not buying from them directly, but rather through a dealer.
I still like their products... but their service stinks! HR

Well, I was a little impatient to get new wheels, so I went to Soul Grind in PB where there was a Gravity 43" Comp Complete, and so I asked the guy if I could just buy the wheels, Gravity 62mm/97a snaps. I would have prefered something bigger, like 64mm or 66mm, but I don't like searching around for stuff.
Put them on my TVS 42" Mid w/ RII's and set off to OB Skatepark. The difference in a word: WWWWWEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! The smaller, harder wheels made a big difference in the speed. I used to have to kick/pump like hell to hit coping, but now I don't have to work has hard so I can enjoy the ride. Good wheels, I just wish they were bigger. Now my next purchase will probably be indy 166 for this deck and wheels to make it better suited to vert.
One another note, they make Gravity Street G's in 97a? I thought the hardest they made those wash 90a. As for Bones Bombers 68mm/95a, why aren't those made anymore?

Too bad they aren't still making them in this duro.I still have a set of 68's that are on my park/vert board.Good speed, controlled slide, slow wear.Worth keeping an eye out for NOS supplies. They used to come in colors beside the standard "white" which yellows almost immediately.Blue was the 95A,red was the 90A.

Blah,
I just had a thought. My 62mm Gravity snaps have been ridden in OB 4 times and Temecula twice. They're almost new. I may sell them to you if I can get my hands on a set of 97a Street G's. I just prefer 66mm to 62mm.

Blah,
I was riding 90a Gravity Super G's at OB on Sat. I can make them slide 'pretty' good on my R2 equiped Concave Carve. I also ride a Budro with Gravity 62mm Snaps that are 97a and I can slide when and where ever I want with those. Also, Gravity's 62mm Snaps and 64mm Comps are reversable which adds to thier life span. It all depends on the size wheel you want. They also make the 66mm Street G in a 97a.
I'm sure I'll see you there some time, I live across the street. Dave

not sure on OB time or if it's going to happen or not. I'm trying to get a video session together so that will control it all. I'll be there or Narrow Gate skatepark or up at some ramps in the mountains around Lake Arrowhead. I'll post here if it gets nailed down a bit better.

So, when the wheel says "95 du" is that just short for DUrometer or are they actually using the "d" hardness scale (as opposed to "a" scale)?

I'm riding some Spitfire Big Bombers that are 60mm 92 duro. I find them a bit slow and they coned real fast. A friend uses some Spitfire hardcores. They have a hard core and come in 59mm and 64mm. They also come in 92, 94 and 97 duro I believe. The harder core makes them a lot faster, no squish around the bearings. A friend just gave me a set of wheels to test drive from some new company called Yocaher. I rode them at the Brickyard skatepark for the first time this last weekend. They are faster than the Spitfire big bombers and they don't slide out on slippery bowls and ramps as much as the Spitfires. They are 59mm and 97 duro I think. I used to ride some of the Sector nine 61mm dual duro's and found them real heavy and slow for vert riding. I may be riding OB this Wednesday so I'll get to try them out there. If I'm there I'm easy to spot, 6'4" fat guy riding a Gravity Team 39" or a Revamped Budro.

So, recommendations for park wheels?

Ok, if 90a is too soft, what are some good wheels that are fairly available? Gravity speed series (snaps 62mm/97a and comp 64mm/97a) seem good, but I haven't seen those anywhere. I was also looking at Spitfire wheels, and the biggest I saw at one shop was 61mm, where I want something a little bigger. Another note on Spitfires, alot of them had 95du written on them, which I'm guess is the duro. But are the spitfires actually using the "D" scale as opposed to the "A" scale? That would seem to be a really hard wheel.

Blah,
In my opinion, the 90a'a may be too soft. I tried OB Skatepark on some Gravity Street G 90a's, and thought that they were slow. I then changed out my wheels to some old Sims 63's (I think they are 97A, but I'm not positive), and tried those at the park. Man, I couldn't believe how much faster these were than the 90a's--It made a big difference.

I'm thinking about getting a set of these wheels for park riding/sliding. I checked the archives and saw lotsa opinions about sliding these wheels, but only a few on park riding with them. My question is how well do you guys think these wheels will work in a park with a fair amount of vertical terrain (I'm thinking Robb Field, OB, San Diego)? Is 90a too soft for smooth park surfaces? I'm changing wheels because my Gravity Super G's 73mm/80a are too big and soft, so my main concern is losing too much speed due to wheels.

Which Sector 9 wheels are you talking about lugedemon? I've never ridden the 76mm/78a wheels, but I've heard their really good, but my experience has shown that the 70mm/78a wheels don't grip very well.
