I scored a set of these old babies in an old skate shop. They are very sweet. Come in bright orange, blue, purple and red. They are 70mm and quite soft...hard to tell.
I love the way these babies ride. Why can't they make 'em like this anymore?

EXKATE WHEELS

Riding all the time and racing with exk8 wheels I would like to precise some details about them. Since some weeks i see more and more riders interrested by exk8 products and particularly cherry bombs, but i do say the "turbo wheels" are the same than the C.Bombs with the same compound and rigid hub, but in 76 or 68 mm what is sometimes easier to put on stock boards. About the speed, i think the 76 are able to go very fast, faster than the speed we currently go on a longsk8 ! Riders, try these products and tell us ...

Hello! I need on/off-road wheels, is there any others than the xtremes, i think the S/S is mabye to small and slippery on grass (and expensiv), and the offroaders to big and slippery on tarmac, and is there some thing wrong whit sealed bearings, no sk8shops sell them? It must be the best way to keep the dirt out???

Cherry Bombs

Cherry Bombs Rock....We sure put them to the test last weekend at The NSLA Mt. Cheaha Street Luge Race in Alabama. With 2.5 miles of blazing speed and g-force not one Cherry Bomb came apart. At speeds around 75 mph these wheels stuck like glue. They wore evenly across the wheel and alls we needed to do was rotate the rear wheels to the front. Beagle Jarvis was wondering where all the red dust was coming from that was all over his board and leathers. He figured it out when he saw his 82 mm wheels were now 75mm. The only draw back to these wheels is that they must be scuffed in before you race them and they are very loud due to the size of the hub.

Hey Chris,
The problem with the Nineballs is that they are slow because they have very good grip. But don't worry, if the hill you bomb is big enough, they are fast enough.

These wheels are rad! They're fast as a mutha, nice and grippy too. I use them for speeboarding and lugeing, that's it. Some of you guys need to get a clue, the reason Cherry Bombs are so heavy, so big, and don't slide well is because they are LIUGE and SPEEDBOARD wheels. So all you speed demons out there, I think you'll find all you need in these wheels.

I have seen them, but not there. I can't remember the name. I hear they are pretty sticky. The guy that had them said they slid ok. He did not have anything good or bad to say about them. I think they look "neat-o". Adam, you know the wheels, Scott rides them.... Later.

I've got a question that maybe some of you geezers (30+! Ha ha ha!) can help me out with. I was at Circle A skateshop/museum in downtown San Jose, and I saw these crazy looking old wheels in the display case. (Eggman! Have you seen them?) They have bare metal hubs and green urethane around the edge. The bearing and wheel core are exposed, unlike new wheels and normal wheels where they are encased. The urethane "tire" is about half a centimeter thick. Do you know what these are and how they ride? E-mail with answers, or just post 'em if you know! Thanks. steve

I was wondering if anyone had ever used super g's with their torsion or exkate trucks. It seems that all the chatter about these trucks has them used with a fat/wide wheel. What is the advantage to using such a creature? I currently ride supper g's on my other boards, and am considering a monster set up with torsion trucks. All in all I am having a problem thinking that there is anything better than the G-things. Let me know what you think!

SP vs. Krypto

Why would Kryptos hold a roll longer than Sector 9s? I would think that this would depend on the bearings more than the wheels, unless the Kryptos are heavier? I don't mean to argue with your experience, I'm just interested in what it is about two wheels that are so similar that makes them perform different.

There is a difference. S9's don't hold a roll as long as Kryptos.

To answer Tom's question about if there is a difference between the Krypto 70mm 78a's, and Sector 9's 70mm 78a's. The answer is there is no difference. Sector 9 just felt they they should try to corner yet another part of this new sport's market, so they copied a wheele that was admired by many of us, and then try to feed us crap about how it is auctually better than krypto's.

Although you'll have to wait for the full review in SOUL CARVE I thought I should mention that these wheels do indeed kill the kryptonic hold on cruising wheels ! They are awesome and sticky as a jam donut on a babies face. Why buy wheels from a company who really only deal in inline blade wheels (there skateboard page on their site hasn't been done for well over a year now) when you can get these babies ! Anyway check the review out on my birthday issue due out on Monday !

Does it really matter what brand of wheel you buy if they have the same durometer and diameter? Will I be able to tell the difference between 70mm 78a Sector 9's and 70mm 78a Kryptonics?

C.BOMBS are excellent wheels, but you could have problem to put them on your board they are "82 mm" and may touch. But if it's a diameter problem you can try the same wheel in other sizes :76 mm or the new "hurricane" in 65 mm In 76 mm they are about the same in durability, speed and so on and the diameter is better for all longboards. The Grip is good but not exactly the same than the other wheels like kryptos or hypers, it is not the same urethane but don't be afraid they grip. What i must tell u is they are fast, not the fastest wheels i've ever seen but very fast and made for high speeds, their comfort is not so soft than a S9, a kryptos or an hyper but it's because the hub is bigger. Try the 76 mm they aren't expensive and tell us what you think.
