Another thing about center set hubs, I find that center set hub wheels slide nicer. wheels with flat inside edges (flat with the bearing) and long extended rims do wierd things with grip: They tend to grip solidly up to a point, and then when they release they do so suddenly, and give bouncing slides.
I never find myself having to flip my wheels due to coning even though I use center set hubs, I find that rotating the wheels every so often does the trick, as I wear the wheels on the toe side of my board more than the heel side wheels.
Another recomendation for wheels, If you are planning to be riding on sidewalk and other strange terain, and grinding, I do not reccomend flat backed wheels (where the wheel sits completely flat with the bearing on the inside edge). I've had a couple sets of kryptonic route 70s that the inside edges chunked out quickly because there was no rounding on the inside edge.

Means you can flip them if/when they cone, it sounds nice but usually wheels are pretty shot by time they're coned. It really comes down to how small your willing to ride your wheels and still enjoy riding them.Aluminators are an excellent choice,great wheels.If you're tring to learn slides try something from X-skates,they're a little tougher I think, but smooth, grippy with a hugh WOW factor goes to the Aluminators.

Centered vs. Offset hub

Ah...it's me AGAIN, Newbie boarder, with another newbie question...(sorry for being a hassle if I am).
What's the difference between a centered hub, and an offset hub?
And one other question...I think I'm going to make the aluminator purchase soon, (I had the chance to ride on them on a friends board...these wheels are smooth). Will they work on my Pivot 146mm Trucks w/ angled risers?

have the gravity street G's got rounded egdes or square? I've tried some 73mm 80a super G's and they had square edges and they were quite narrow. Are street G's the same but scaled down? thanks.

Power Paw 65mm

I slapped a set of the white 65mm Power Paw wheels on my slalom board just before the tight slalom contest in LA this past weekend, and I instantly won the event! I wish... anyway, I can say that these wheels are very fast, smooth, and stick like crazy. A super slalom wheel-- better than the 65mm Kryptonic Classic K, in my opinion.

I can't comment on the Gravity wheels cuz I've only tried the 66mm/82a street G's, but the power paws will probably have too much grip for gool sliding. The bombers are only 68mm, and they slide real good, but they may break away on hard carves. I like the Exkate Turbos (76mm/76a), they grip well and also slide real smooth, not bouncy. Hope this helps.

Hey pals. I'm in the market for wheels on my homemade board. I'm looking for something that I can learn to slide with and rip fat slides on, but something that won't break on every carve. The roads around here are lightly-to-moderatly gnarly, so 70mm is probably the minimum size I'm looking for. My board is a 60 inch massive hardwood board with a 48 inch wheelbase and randal-2 trucks (the carvers, not the comp-2's). I'm looking into something like the Gravity Fu Manchu 76mm in 84A and 80A, or maybe their 73mm. I've also thought about Power Paw regulars in 70mm and bones bombers if I can't afford anything else or can't mailorder anything. I'm willing to consider a smaller than 70mm wheel if you recommend it. Got any ideas?

Are the power paws the only wheels with an aluminium core? Aren't there some other ones? I've heard of swissmade designs which are very expensive. Has anybody got experiences with other alu-core wheels than the aluminators? I'm looking for new wheels with much grip, but I'd like to see them before I buy them.

I loved these wheels so much that i had to pick myself up a set. Rene at www.LONGSKATE.com made it a reality. I also used his centered spacers with no problem at all. These wheels are the best 70mm soft wheels, period. They are faster than my 76mm livewire wheels and stickier too. I was running them with swiss bones, randal 2s and my freeride marvin 41.5"

I have had them flat spot on slides at 65 mph (on a luge). I also flat spotted the butt part of my leathers too. Ouch-hot hot hot.
