modifying wheels could cause chunking who would've thunk  I'm not sure how you recut your wheels,i wouldn't sand wheels without full breather apparatice,but if you cut them on a lathe,or however you cut them might have left tears, however small .Once you break the structure of the urithane you create a facet and it'll just spread.How about the orange speedvents?I always had pink flywheels on my "wish they would make this" list. I'm gonna try to pressure my buds to doing a monday morning harrimann session, i'm jonzing to crack 50mph, i was always a bit none aero,err aeroretardent(?) i was wearing big floppy shorts(with prodesign kneepads) and an open helmet with a visor, i know i have a faster outfit ,though no speed suit.If i get two more shots at that hill before it does some sort of snowish percip i'd like to run a set of yella racing sector wheels.

Herbn, I too have found that the Reflex formula (and 'Pinks' are special!  ) are just a tad faster than 'Black Ops' thane, in a straight line... Add in some higher-G corners, and the wheel's shaping may play into things in the favor of Seismics. Cores, are cores, mostly; however, Vented cores do cool bearings, and change the 'tread depth' of wheels, so I prefer the Seismic cores (in ratio) to ABEC 11, give or take the medium Flys or bigger Vents (some seem to grip, some squirm towards sliding) . The best thing (well 2nd best: best was doing this to Flashbacks, making them "slashbacks'  ) I ever did was 'shave' some Gumballs at the lip with a concave curvature (like' Really' big Tunnels!) to get the grip and speed I wanted . The bad was chunking occurring at Ascutney at 40+ mph  . No slide until then, then Wobs and breakaway, plus 2 toasted right-side wheels. Yeah, can't send 'altered' wheels back to CC with a sad note, can ya? It does make me wonder if CC will make Reflex Flys, or if Dan will make an Uber-Speed of 111mm in 80A B.O. , or if anyone is really ready for wheels like that? I know I dreamed of them 25 years ago...

well ,up in harrimann i found that my pink gumballs still rule,i clocked 49.5 mph as opposed to 48ish on the seismics, i was supposed to go up in my mc leather pants and sheilded helmet to crack 50 but it didn't happen this week.

I'm pretty sure these are the fastest wheels i've riden ,i have them in the blue 81a(maybe 83a?) hardness,anyway the little bit firmer urithane is definitely noticable and addes to a crisp fast acceleration, part of this could be the medium sized cores they might just firm up the wheel a bit with out being too harsh,i.e. , a big core with a thin layer of very soft urithane .Other wheels i have in 75 or 78a feel a bit better on rough pavement and over the cracks on sidewalk,but on standard reasonably smooth nj streets they feel a bit sluggish and under inflated compared to the seismics. Maybe i just had a good tail wind today,both ways:)

Hyper Super Mundos were the main dh wheels along with kryptos in the late 80s 90s. the black ones are fun for sliding but the clear ones suck. They still are produced as Cadilac and distributed through Madrid.
Powerflex were old tight slalom wheels.
Stradas - slalom
Tom Peterson used to own Hyper and was a roller derby champion as well as an acomplished race car driver. I use to work on his Porsche Cup car every now and then,

"Pipeline" was marketed by one of the mass marketed lower line companies; I think Lotus was the company. They were a powerflex-like replica. Some were very opaque like powerflex, some had a slight clearish finish like the Tunnel wheels. They have no connection with the Upland Pipeline skatepark beyond the name.
the Yandall Bowl Rolls are cool. You can contact Chris Yandall directly and he can give you first hand info. he posts on here regularly. He has a pretty recent post in the "history" section, and his email is in there.

DRA, the blue kryptos are gonna be pricey if you can even find them. Check out the 85mm freebord slashers. LY also make hawgs in the same shape but they are a bit slower.

As wheels dont have a 'sell by' date, how is a customer meant to know if their wheels come from this duff batch, or not? If the wheels have sat on a shelf for a month or so, it will fall outside the date purchased. Especially those wheels from outside the US.... Also, wheels sourced outside the US will likely have sourced their wheels early, so recalled wheels would be ones from early, good stock?
A 'date purchased' recall does not cover all the wheels affected, surely?

Loaded Boards, Inc. of California is recalling all Purple (83a) Orangatang 75mm In Heat wheels purchased between 2/27/09 and 4/29/09 as well as all Orange (80a) Orangatang 75mm In Heat wheels purchased between 3/14/09 and 4/29/09.
Loaded Boards, Inc. has recently determined that a small percentage of the cores (produced by a third party vendor) used in these batches are not up to our rigorous quality control standards and may run the risk of shearing the bearing seat (blowing out the core and possibly causing the wheel to separate from the truck while in motion), creating a safety hazard to the user. This is a voluntary recall: Consumers should stop riding these wheels immediately and return the wheels (along with date of purchase so we can ascertain that it’s from this batch) to an authorized Loaded Boards/Orangatang dealer or to Loaded Boards, Inc. for a free replacement set. Loaded and all Dealers will gladly exchange the wheels for any wheel of choice, including the new Freeride wheels, provided the wheels are in stock or accessible.
The silver lining is that, while these cores have worked well up until this batch, we will be switching over to a new 3rd generation core for future In Heats that provides better wear and slide characteristics. We encourage the performance use of these wheels and do our utmost to ensure that they will hold up to the rigorous use and abuse that they are designed for. I'd love to re-issue the old Yandall Bowl Roll and call it the Yandall Soul Roll. Looking into it!
Meanwhile, I just wanted to comment on Chaput's retro's! I got the hard ones 72mm and pink polka dots 62mm for the front trucks. I'm a gliding fool! I've put over 1000 miles on them already this year :) they are wearing like champs!
