Herbn, are your Formula Ones bright orange, if so they are the same compound if not, the new Krypts may be worth checking out. They are very fast.

Lover,
Wheel wear is totally dependent on your style of riding and how much you slide and carve. Wheels can last for years if all you do is cruise on flats. On the other hand, if your game is downhill and you're pushing your wheels to the max on hard carves and slide maneuvers, your wheels could be shot in as little as a couple of days.
Visually inspect your wheels for signs of coning, chunking, and general wear (i.e. decreasing outside diameter). If you're riding hard it will be also be obvious from the diminishing performance when its time for a new set.

Hey, whens a good time to replace the tires? I'm asking because I barely got my board like 8 weeks ago. So im curious about whens a good time to change them. I put a lot of miles on it, like nonstop ride for like 2 hours a day for eight weeks?

When I first got these wheels, they were a dream. They would stick to just about anything, but after about a month of riding, they seem to have lost all their grip. I can slide the back wheels at like 10mph!!!

What's a relatively big (70mm) and relatively hard (90 A plus) wheel out there? I want a good all around street/park riding wheel that has some roll to it. Why are all the hard wheels so danged small? I'd like something hard that I don't have to grudgingly scratch my way up the road on. Is there a BIG and HARD wheel?
ok ok, I know it sounds a little odd...

Oh well, nice wheels but I already had a set of Formula One easy riders, same core, same color, same seam that I guess should wear off evenly on the first ride.I thought it was gonna be a new wheel.

Since I got a new setup, I'm going to comment on just about all of it...heh heh.
These wheels are pretty good. I still think PowerPaw wheels are the best when it comes to carving. They are narrower than powerpaws too, which isn't a bad thing, but they do ride a little different than the Powerpaws of the same specs.
I pulled of a pretty gnarly slide yesterday too, and I looked at the wheels. They didn't have any significant flat spots, so that's a plus too.
My overall impression - I still prefer powerpaws to anything, but S9 makes decent wheels.

go to Flexdecks.com abd check out there green fat daddy wheels for just $16 they are 70 mm and they work pretty well thye seem to be good for all around stuff the only thign i dont like is that that make a funny hollow nois when you hit realy bad bumps.. i dont know if its even a big deal i just dont like my board makeing weird noises. I sake on Radnle II trucks which are the best in my experience. and I realy like my pro 46 bye flexdecks but it seems that they put the trucks too far away from the tail because i cant get much pop out of it....

I got some from solid skate and they are fast wheels. At the campo races Dave Rogers was riding them on luge and standup. At those races, I found out though, that speed is mainly controlled by body position/wind resistance. WHile most of the fastest guys were on 82mm Cherry Bombs, many guys on 70mm, 72mm & 76mm wheels were beating guys on Cherry Bombs. So don't expect miracles from any one wheel. The krptos are super lively and feel good in corners. They have a narrower footprint than Turbowheels or Cherry Bombs and most others. Ride what feels best underfoot - the hill will ultimately decide your max speed.

Just orderd two sets for my shop, they're supposed to be special race wheels with some sort of heatsink around the bearings as well as a core,or maybe it is the core, 74mm sounds ok, though i'm partial to 80mm+ my favorite Cherrys are worn to about that size, should go over to their web site though they probabely havn't up dated it yet.

thanks for your advice guys, I think I'm going to leave that hill alone then (at least for a while), I can slide 93a's I find they slide at almost any speed (unfortunately around corners as well), and my max speed so far has been 40mph, but there was a hill I was checking out which was a bit longer and quite a bit steeper, with no driveways to get out on. I did my sums and 80kph works out at 50mph. my nads aren't big enough for that yet.

I only ever slide on soft wheels and find them perfect to slide on as the grip is constant. I have used hard wheels to slide like 95a and had a hard time due to them sliping then griping at different time to each other would an 82a wheel have the upper hand in control and endurance? keep the carve wiggy

I've slide from around 40 mph on hard wheels, maybe 35 or so on softys, Cherry Bombs are probabely your best bet, especially if you break them in until they get real wide, just this today I left 50 something feet of cherry bomb skidmarks to turn into a driveway when a landscaping truck pulled a u turn at the bottom of the hill.

wheels that slide at 60mph

If you want to slide at 60 you better have some good leathers as that is the only way you are going to slide out of that speed. I use gravity super g 78a (last set lasted me 4 days so they dont last)really nice control but i only slide up to around 35mph then slam sindrom takes effect an spreads across my arms back and knees most commonly. I am not saying it is impossable it is just i have never seen anyone slide that speed out but if you can all the luck of the slam fairy. keep the carve wiggy (taffia member)

Livewire 76mm/78A Vs.Hyper Mundo 72mm/78A

Well,I took out my 33" cutdown Joyride (former snowboard) setup with Siesmics (running Gold springs),and first the Mundos, and then the Livewires, onto this nearby hill that goes at 4% grade for 4/10 mile, then flat for 6/10 mile.My wife followed in the Mustang. The results are that the Mundos got 32 mph,and the Livewires ran at 34 mph. This proves nothing, but I held the same Hut-Tuck,same hill, wind, temp, bearings, etc.,so while very unscientific,I'd say that the Livewire Revolver is a bit quicker than the Hyper Super Mundo.I'll try to obtain some Power Paws,Exates,Kryptos,Gravitys as I can and do run-offs betwixt them later this summer. The need is for more speed...

I am struggling. I am a very rookie longboarder, and i want slide-ish wheels, but that are also soft enough to cruise really good. like maybe something between a bones bomber and a sector nine. sec nines are nice and soft, but they are moderate in the slide range. bones bombers (so i've heard) are slidy but not very smooth. help!

Hey Lawless, don't forget to take into consideration the flex of your board as that will make a huge difference, so don't think your wheelbite is gone until u really crank a turn where u won't get hurt...nothing worse than thinkin u'r kool then your on some hill lean it over an POW!!!!
