hc,
Thrashin' has some sliding in it and the rider is Rich Dunlop. Rich also did the slide/stunt work for Gleaming the Cube. He was rooming in the same house as I was in about 1981/82 in Berkeley. As far as I know he now lives in Sausalito. He had a bad bicycle accident in Paris last year and might still be recovering. Rich is originally from Boston and once wrote an article about the first slide race for Thrasher magazine. The first slide race took place in Montecito, CA. It was in the early 1980s. I organized it and we ran it on a road I found called Park Lane. Park Lane is the same road featured in Future Primitive and the riders there were Rich Dunlop and Chris Iverson.

I am still rolling. Those IDIOTS.
I have the surf video "Fluid Drive" and it's lacking the skate footage. When I saw it when released (1975) there was some RAD skate footage of the Z-boys at Revere. Anyone know or have it?

If you want some of the best 70's skating get Hal Jepson's Super Session http://www.surfart.com/Videos/video_jepsen.htm
It has Tony Alva, Jay Adams, Larry Bertleman, etc Lot's of Revere footage, some old pool footage. It's mixed into a mainly surfing video. Great stuff!!!

kevin, i'm nt sure exactly wha you want to see, but some good videos that show all aspects of longboarding are the monkey. lots of carving, speedboarding, sliding. the videos by sector 9(Rollin & Big Stick) are good to, they show more general carving and pool and ditch riding. these can allbe found at www.solidskate.com and www.longskate.com. also check out these videos if you can download such a big file:http://www.pmskateboards.com/shnitzels_page.swf

Hi i know how to control a skateboard on flatland and all with ease, all the wheelies, i cant powerslide, kickturns, basic moving, etc. but i just bought a longboard and got on it today in a small riding area and didnt mess a lot with it. i dont know many people around here that do it, in east TN. but i was advised to buy or rent videos to teach me the basics and intermediate skills. can i get some suggestions on videos and reliable places to buy them? I don't wanna watch ppl do tricks alone, i want a good tutorial on how to do things right. theres not many websites, and once i get good at it, i plan on making a website to teach people about it. thank you for your help. feel free to email me.

I just got my copy of"This is not skateboarding" and all I have to say is that Glen Darcey is the man! I haven't been around as long as most of you regulars but I've seen my share of videos. This has total style from the begining to end. Even newbies like me can understand your rich history and now I see why you all are as passionate as you are about slalom. I'm proud to be associated with such a great bunch of folks. Good job everyone!

Hate to interrupt the DQ discussion, but I wanted to let everyone know that Glen D.'s video "This is not skateboarding" is a very entertaining way to introduce newcomers to the performance levels of the sport, as well as a great historical documento this year's slalom re-emergence. If skate shops played this vid on their monitors and stocked the gear, it could grow the sport. Still pics in magazines don't convey the fury of the action the way this video does. Check it out.

I had to pull it. I have limited video space and bandwidth so I only post things for a short time. The best bet for anything I post is for people to download it to their local drives if they think they want to check it out at some time in the future. I'm not real married to the things I post and don't usually maintain an archive so once it's gone, it's gone. I emailed the Ben video to Marc DuPaul for Longskate to post, I don't know if they ever did or not.
Sorry
