really old skateboard
On 10/21/2001 ben wrote in from (207.93.nnn.nnn)

i have this skateboard, solid aluminum about 22 inches long. the wheels are about yhe same color as a really old pink eraser. on them its says "CHICAGO" NO. 76P. the top is flat, with ridges, and says Pro-Surfer, with a sort of inverted nike swoosh on it. it says it is made by the NJ Aluminum Co, but i don't know anything else about it. i have riden it a bit, and it rides very well on a flat surface, but over larger cracks, it doesn't ride smoothly compared to a conventional, modern skateboard. it is in good working condition, but a little scratched and the truncks are slightly rusty. i asked around, and no one knows anything about it, the dates of when it is from range form the early 50s to the late 60s, and i think it is from sometime around 1965. if anyone knows anything about this board, please tell me. i have no idea how much it is worth, i am guessing maybe 150 dollars, but i might be way off. if you are interested in buying it, make me an offer.

Ben Sweeney

Well thanks HughR, from what I read here, you are one of the more respectable people, so I dont doubt that you are lying.

The only reason I brought this up is to teach and train people that offers on the internet arent always straight up, the internet is probably the easiest place to do scams. So this question was just for those out there who jump on oppurtunities like this.

But thanks for your truthful response. And if I had any stuff I would give it to you. I use most of my equipment till it breaks. Good luck getting donations though.

Leopard grip tape
On 10/19/2001 Glen wrote in from (216.102.nnn.nnn)

Hey Ed,
They have Leopard, Cheeta, Camo ( hard to use because you can't find your board ) and of course black at Yocaher.
It's a cheezy taiwan import company but they have cool grip tape and my favorite wheels for skatepark riding. 58mm 90 duro wheels. They also have ABEC5 bearings for super cheap.
And a halftrack width truck.
Dealers only.

my word
On 10/19/2001 hugh r wrote in from (205.216.nnn.nnn)

Skeptic,

That is a fair question and deserves a fair response.

I beleive that one of the most important things I can have
is a good reputation. I beleive that a persons word,
especially mine, is my bond. And I give my word that
every single item that is donated will either be sent on
to the special ed teacher (Jonah) or returned to the
person/company donating it... I'll pay the shipping.

I have done business with quite a few people on this site...
buying, selling, and trading. My request for help was
directed more towards the people who know me and have
done business with me, rather than at people who don't
know me (although their donations will be greatly
appericiated too!)

What I am requiring of Jonah is that he provide me with
pictures of his class building the boards so that I
can chronicle the whole experience on my site.

So, I guess in closing, what I am saying is that I
understand your skepticism, and all I have to offer is
my word... HR

Hugh's skate relief
On 10/19/2001 Glen wrote in from (216.102.nnn.nnn)

Hugh, I have the better part of a roll of pretty cool Leopard print grip tape that I'd donate. It's pretty heavy though and shipping may cost more than just buying some.
Let me know,

Glen

P.S. Hugh R. isn't a scam, he's reliable.

donated boards
On 10/19/2001 skeptic wrote in from (128.171.nnn.nnn)

Hey Hugh hwo does anyone know that you won't keep all that stuff for yourself.

I hope your garunteeing the safe shipment of peoples donations to hawaii. I've seen a lot of scams that start like this.

Just wanted to point that out because people should always question things, they never always turn out to be the way they seem to be.

Don O'Shei Stiff Trade

Ok, ok... I listened to everyone in the 190lb+ range saying they needed the Don O'Shei STIFF model and went ahead and bought one (I'm 200lbs). I'm getting the feeling that I may actually prefer a medium...

Anyone interested in trading a Don O'Shei or Gary Cross MEDIUM, for my Don O'Shei STIFF?
