I wanna' move to Louisville now that I've seen that beautiful skatepark. The concrete looks perfect! Would you rate it a 10 (on a 1-10 Wow scale)? Our skateparks in Albuquerque are nice but our concrete has lotsa' cellulite/bumpy. New Mexico ditches are the best! Hey Adam, I love this site!!!

Good to hear that Dan "Booger" Brown is skating again. Last I saw of him was two winters agao at a Ski Round Top MC'ing a 1/2 pipe contest. Dan would kill it on a banked slalom race at Landsdowne.

Anyone remember the original Bolton (UK) Skatepark in the old wrestling stadium? Complete with snake run, huge bowl, half pipe and slalom area with run off ramp. If you have any pics please let me have a copy! Those were the days!!!!!!

Andy,
Lansdowne - this past Sunday (6/2) around 2:30 pm.
He and few other PA skaters from Harrisburg showed up as we were leaving. He seemed like a really great guy - real friendly ,etc. The guy I was with knew who he was and asked him who his sponsors were (Kryptonic and Atlantic Skates). After that encounter, I did some research on the web and low and behold, you had a great pic of him at Cedar Crest doing a layback chanel transfer thingy. Very cool pic:

Andy, are you up for a session at the 'Downer? If so, let me know and I will let you know the next time I am going out there. I will be happy to swing by and pick you up - you live about 5 mins or so from me in G'burg.
Later,
Andrew

Thanks Mick.
If you are interested in hitting the 'Downer or any other places in MD/VA, send me an email and we can work out a day/time. Lately, I have been hitting Vans and Lansdowne on a fairly regular basis - but I am alwasy up fro trying new spots. Going to be in OC from June 15-21 and will definetely be goign to the OC Bowl and the new park in Berlin (Exodus).
You missed a great session on Sunday - the Harrisburg, PA crew also came down and just ripped! Pulling big ass boneless's and ollies! Dan "Booger" Brown, an 80s sponsored skater showed up as I was leaving, so I am sure there was even more rippping after we left. I had tow big back to back slams on my hip/elbow/palm, so by the time I was leaving, the soreness was starting to set in .
My email is ajwahl@aol.com

Damn andrew, I wish I had gone to Lansdowne this sunday i was thinking about it it woulda been nice too see a longboarder. dude i think i had one of the biggest longboard congregations in the history of maryland this past fiday we had 6 boarders it was so nice. Until one of my friends went flying at 40mph into a forest. That lucky bastard didnt get hurt at all. we were going to go to lansdowne but we didn't have time. o dude there is a sweet road closing i dont know if you know where old bosly road is(It will be closed for a month. well thats shut down its about a 1/2 mile run. it is very nice when you get to the forest part. It has very good surface for sliding you dont get too much speed i think my friend got up to 25-30. and also the workers there are really nice. they ddont hassle you at all they also measured how long the road was for us. if you wasnt more details about it post or email me.
Thanks -Mick Longboarder@comcast .net

The crowds are usually pretty light in the morning. Usually doesn't get crowded until mid afternoon. I've had the big bowl completely to myself a few times. And even when the place is packed, the big bowl usually doesn't have more than 6-8 people skating it. I usually check the park's webcams before heading out there, to see what the crowd/weather is like. And bring plenty of water/Gatorade/whatever, it gets HOT...

Glen, If you get to the park when it opens the crowds will be small. But it does get very crazy there real quick. The clover bowl is very fun, and the crowd that skates it is a respectful older generation. Don't bother skating there on the weekends and afternoons. The last time I skated there was on a weekend. I watched a fist fight, drunk teenage girls throwing up and a no-legged kid who was a trying to skate get snaked over and over. It's a mess and it's in a bad area, but the clover bowl is worth the effort.

Cool, new forum!
I hit the Y last night....first time I rode vert in 15 or so years, first time in concrete bowls in over 20. What was astounding was just how bad I sucked at it after all this time. Almost as astounding is how crummy the wheels I was using were (nu-skool cr@p).
Practice, practice, practice, and maybe some new wheels.

Albuquerque has at least 3 rideable parks. Did anyone ever hit Slayer pool up in Belllingham, WA before it got 'dozed? When you get bored dodging all the kids at the parks here in ABQ, hit me up and I'll take you to the DITCHES......
