John...the Reading pics are awesome!! The pic of Lee should be on the cover of some skate mag...what a cool shot! I wish I could make it to Reading - I would love to take a crack at that bowl before it gets dozed. And yes, we will have to hit Lansdowne when school is back in session. The only prob is that the hours of operation are limited to late afternoon, so a full day is out, unless you wanna jump the fence.....

Yea, I'm back... in Maryland...Louisville was fun but super duper crowded...800 sk8rs, 200 bikers last thurs eve...cool temps & 1k spectators...no lie...I couldn't believe it...I thought the Hawkster was in town but I was wrong....a grandapa told me when Tony was in town on tour there were about 25k people watching, & this man knows sports as he is a derby crowdster & U of L season tix holder......oh well, lots of fun , met lots of cool rippers....I sk8d there thurs eve into the early morn(I was the only longboarder the whole time I was there )fri sunrise session( the UPS crew were out grinding hard and carving big time)all morn into the pm friday, then late fri nite after scoring movie extra parts downtown (thanks Rob), then late into the early morn .Middletown,Oh, concrete was a blast....no need to look twice over both shoulders and dodge nincumpoops who are clueless to those who do more than one-hit wonders like 99% of the louisville,ky crowd. These OH bowls r fun city and get worked by the locals only occasionally...then after I realized I'd been there for 4 hrs I had to split to Reading.....sorry, Cabbage, couldn't make it there saturday.but I was there w/ the general & his vife,Tim, Chris, Johnny B, Justin & all the bikers sunday & monday for morn & eve sesssions.........you guys rip!! More fun to be had later this weekend in reading....anybody from DC, Va, or Baltimore wish to convoy there sunday???? let me know! Big thanks to the general for bringing the grill yesterday! oops, kudos go out to Ken, who hadn't been to Magic sk8 park since '78 and his son, as well as Joey B who rode the mini-carve Gravity deck all over.

Hey all. I'm heading down south to Louisville over Labor Day weekend and don't want to be the only fat board souls skater there. Anyone else hitting it? I've heard good reports, though I haven't visited.

hey whats happening cabbage, john d., and john b.,and anyone else who has gotten in on these last couple of weeks of sessioning reading/magic/spinning wheels/... park.I have been skating there off and on for quite a long time and these last sessions have been some of the funnest, most energy filled I have ever witnessed or been a part of.Since the next weekend could be the last FOREVER lets keep this energy flowing to the very end. NO EXCUSES get out and skate Magic!!! You boys know how to contact the general(lee) or myself , so let us know when you will be coming to town. And to anyone else who has skated, or wanted to skate magic, get out and do so this minute.Take in a piece of history, because very soon you will not have the chance.

I like a 19mm-35mm zoom that allows you to tailor things. Going wider is cool too but it will limit the amount of looks you can get. Get lots of light. A real diffused on camera flash and a bounced radio remote are a good bet.
Get close to the action, don't be afraid to get a board in the face, lens, or other body part.

On 8/11/2002 scabs wrote in from (66.21.nnn.nnn)

What is the best sized lense for taking pool and half pipe action pic? The pics will be takin at night with some artificial light. Cloes range like on the top of the half pipe.

The reason I`m asking is `cause I have a pro photographer shooting the seshs at Oelsner and OLLiewood but he has no experiance at this. I`m trying to convince him on a widest angle type lens but he has in his mind otherwise.

Input needed...
Thanks, Brady

Other than the car lined streets Southeast DC has some sick hills just like Anthony said..... I work at NRL in S.E. and have buttboarded (fall on my ass if I standup)through DC Village area and built some hair raising speeds real fast.... A Providence, RI type course (only better)could be set in this area. And dont worry about the nieghbors......they like new things..... except the Red Bull.......they all thought it was a malt liqiour we were handing out.

Reading Sk8 park
On 8/7/2002 cabbage wrote in from (216.83.nnn.nnn)

Ok freash off the press, just got off the phone with "the general" Lee, a.k.a. longboard lee, and he spoke to the contractors last night. It seems they were going to tear it down so the road to haul building materials could be there, but they found a different, easier route for the trucks, so the park is going last. The bulldozer guy clearing the land, told Lee 2 weeks tops, so I am calling everyone out to come up to reading or down, or over, and lets get a big longboard/vintage/ol school/ banked slalom party this weekend. I have already changed my plans, and will be there all day sat/little sun. Let race dc/ bring your cones and timers and try to catch me and lee.....(: Contact me if you need info. LBK round 'em up, lets do this....Hope to see you all there. Party sat night magic sk8park.....
