Lake Mary, Florida (North Orlando)
On 9/5/2002 CheapSkate wrote in from (192.246.nnn.nnn)

Talked to Team Pain office today and they said they have finished all the crete work for this new city park. Talked to Lake Mary Parks & Recreation and they say the pavilions and landscaping is still being worked. Park should open by the end of this month. Fees are expected but hopefully will be minimal compared to the private parks (like Van$). They said there will be separate BMX sessions too.

I've haven't seen the park myself but heard from a local skater that there is a pool. I'm hoping it might be a clone of the St. Augustine park that Team Pain built.

Stay tuned to this channel as the story develops...

P.S. The Chase Street Oldschoolers may have a new stop for their road trips.

Here is info from the hoss's mouth:

"Rene,
We don't have an exact opening date yet, but we feel that it will be
mid-October. We'll have a better idea in about a week.
The rates have been finalized for this season and can be viewed at our park
website: www.charlescountyparks.com." $4-6 for outsiders.
"Season passes will not be available until
the spring (March) and will be good for a full 12 months.
Residency does mean a resident of Charles County, but we feel all of our current
rates are very affordable.
Thanks for your interest. We are very excited about our new skatepark and we
hope to see you out there!
Tom"

Monrovia Update
On 9/4/2002 msk wrote in from (172.156.nnn.nnn)

The hours posted for Monrovia are already out of date (after they just changed them a few weeks ago). As of Tuesday, they've switched to "school hours" on weekdays, meaning they now are only open when school's out. Open at 3, close at 7, Monday-Friday. I guess they haven't noticed that a large percentage of the skaters there are over 18...

Are there any online pictures of the banked slalom bowl
at Cherry Hill skatepark from 1979-80? I've found sites w/ photos
of the 3/4 pipe & bowl and the pools but no slalom bowl.

Come join us in a couple months.

Dear Mr. Bob Schwartz: Any word on the estimated time of skate action at the Charles county skatepark? I ask because I've got a bitchin' deathbox on the way and I take the 50 to the Eastern Shore every Tuesday and Thurs. Are fees going to be $4-6 now?

I'll be in San Diego this week for the ASR trade show and will be hitting the YMCA Montclair pool, Coronado, and the Combi pool at Vans. Will be at the combi at 4pm on Thurs. if anyone wants to hook up and skate. Not sure what times I'll be at the other parks but give me a shout and I'll give you my cell number.

Ivy Pool aka 123 Pool
On 9/1/2002 Stoolpigeon wrote in from (165.247.nnn.nnn)

Mick it's in Northern VA. Here are the directions but first you got to be cool there. There are some anti-World Wide Web thugs that worship that pool no matter how sick kinked it is. Respect the place and those guys will show you the lines in the pool. Ok?

Well here it is. 95 1/2 hour south of DC. Go past Lorton. Exit at Rt 123 (same road to go to the Park & Ride but the other direction), 123 north back over the river. Drive past the old Lorton Prison. Now here is the tough part. Start looking toward your left going north. Soon you will see some old houses that are abandoned. Look for the white house with orange safety fence behind it. You will likely pass the house before you see the fence. Pull on up in the drive way up to the point where you are between the two houses, the white one and a brick one. The pool is to your left behind the orange safety fence. You might need a bucket and some towels.

Like I said be cool there and don't bring any attention to yourself. Oh and get ready to slam! It's got some of the tightest tranny skateable.

I also strongly suggest you check out the Vans pool afterwards because you are about 15 minutes from the Potomac Mills Mall Vans Park. There is a mini-pool in the park and a full on right-hand kidney. Tthey are both real slick from dust so get ready to slam.

Stooly

Pool boards for Otis

I have a Sector 9 Deep End model from a couple of years ago that I'm happy with, 36" long. They've changed them since, they look like popsicle sticks now but they should still be functional. Other people are making square-tailed shapes if you'd prefer those. If you look at any of the online longboard shops you should find something, try:

Any skaters in the SoCal area, and especially from the Badlands, if you can attend this meeting, please do and let your voice be heard. All too often, bowls have been, at best, an afterthought. Here's our chance to help right that wrong...

On 8/30/2002 msk wrote in from (172.141.nnn.nnn)

This was emailed to me yesterday:

"There's a good bowl design in Montclair CA. that is in jeopardy of not being built. The city feels they feels not enough people like bowls so the first thing to go is that. Here's there chance to speak up. There is going to be a city council meeting on this issue Sept. 3rd at 5:00p.m. If enough people show up to support the bowl they'll build it if not it's out, that simple.
Directions to the meeting:
10 FWY EXIT MONTE VISTA GO SOUTH THEN LEFT ON BENITO AND THE ADRESS IS 5111 BENITO THIS IS THE CIVIC CENTER SO JUST GO IN AND ASK SOMEONE WHAT ROOM THE MEETING IS IN. PEOPLE CAN ALSO CALL THE CITY OF MONTCLAIR TO GET FURTHER INFO."

I would like to get some your thoughts and ideas from you
guys about designing and running a Indoor/outdoor SkatePark?
Does Anybody know of any sofware that can help with the
design"please include Slalom,Banked Slalom and XtremeSlalom ideas
as I want Slalom to be a intergral part of the park.
Has anyone seen the Roller derby movie I would like to have
weekened competions on some type of designed course i'm
thinking of a Figure 8 or something to make fun and
challenging With Slalom being part of the Competion.
Id like to throw this into our discussion. Oh by the way
I live in Oxnard so thats where I set it up.
