Palmer, I plan to see you there.

GI Joe, Now that I have a full time job, it's more an issue of time than money. I actually have some web space that I can use. I just need to sit my butt down in front of one of these god-forsaken machines for a day or two and rebuild my website. I bet that it will happen this winter some time, before spring definitely, but not until finals are over. ABQ TVI students need a LOT of tutoring.

Paul, I plan to see you and the family there, definitely.

Andy, Skater chick? Quarter pipes? Cute? Dude, you're only human! That's a good enough excuse to miss an old-fart race in my opinion! Hang out with her every chance you get! And then, when you have some leverage, bring her to the races! Tell her that she can sweep the women's division! I bet she'd smoke some of us older guys even. The more, the merrier!

Sk8 Skool for Hamm
On 10/27/2004 GI Joe wrote in from United States  (65.19.nnn.nnn)

This is a Skate School event in 2 weeks, and now that I think of it Hamm, you probably could use some of what Skate School has to offer the all around skater. I'd love to have you and Lynn for the weekend! If you have only one trip to ABQ in you though, save it for Spring, TimeShip will have plenty of events again. The Bear will be held in May again, and we'll be attempting a World Speed record out on Rio Bravo as soon as the tail winds pick up to about 30mph. No disrespect to Gary, just a straight fast hill.

Chris, I'll e-mail you directions....again.

We'll be there next time, and also at the Santa Fe race. Would of made it last week but Andy had plans to skate all day with a girl, not a girl friend, no no don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to start any domestic wars in my own house. She's just a chick that has a couple of quarter pipes and a rail in her driveway, not to mention she races motor cross. Can you imagine, he'd rather hang with her than us old farts in some dusty ditch on the west side, go figger.

Missed you at RBBS, it was fun but lonely. We needed about ten more heads out there. KLee is right, that place would make for a pretty cool BBQ.

I had your Supertanker relic from the high jump in my jeep too.

The next Slalom event at the dump in Santa Fe will be Sunday, November 14th, all ages, no entry fee and no one will take anyones $$$, just your humble pride. The Sk8 Skool kids are ripping and should be able to take out Palmer and GBM by next season. Mc Clarens beware! Please schedule accordingly so that we don't double book the same day.

K-Lee, TimeShip wants to help solve your web hosting dilema once and for all with a small sponsorship. Got an ISP in mind?

Rio Bravo Banked Slalom
On 10/25/2004 K-LEE wrote in from United States  (198.133.nnn.nnn)

The first Rio Bravo Banked Slalom race went off without a hitch. The MAN came up while the ditch was being swept out, only to make sure that we weren't buring bodies. When he found out that we were cleaning the ditch to race skateboards in it, he said "Oh, fine, I don't care if you do that here." Then he left us to our own devices.

After sweeping some dirt left by local construction and taping up the cones, we took our practice runs. With the help of girlfriends and wives, we were able to get in 3 timed runs (using the walkie talkie/stopwatch method) for all 4 racers.

Here were the results (off the top of my head)

1. GBMII - 53.4ish (!!!)
2. K-LEE - 54.7ish
3. Mark J - 58.something
4. Miller - 59.something

We should try to do this at least every 2 or 3 weeks. The MAN is on our side. The ditch is perfect. The course is 28 cones long. I plan to extend it at least another 20 cones, hopefully making it a 2 minute plus course! Entry fee will be $5 per racer, winner take all. This is NOT a bust, so invite all your friends and spectators. Let's bring lawn chairs and a barbeque grill. This can start to be a monthly or bi-monthly banked slalom get-together. The course can be run on a longboard set loose, or a slalom board with a good wheelbase.

Who wants to run banked slalom?

Rio Bravo
On 10/24/2004 Jim West wrote in from United States  (4.240.nnn.nnn)

Sorry we missed you guys on Sunday. Could not get there until 3:30. Heard that George tore it up. Anyway, James and I rode and hit the marks. Very tricky K-Lee. I will have to change my setup. Bottom is killer. The rice burning wheelie dude came into the ditch while we were there and wanted to film with us riding along side them. It was cool because we got to see one of the guys hit the bank and when he fell over the bars the bike rolled over him. It was kkkkkknarly. By the way, after the ditch we went speed boarding in the new sub next door and it was killer. Fast enough to make it fun and 5 elbow turns to make it tricky. We rode till dark. Is this sport sick or what?

Absolutely
On 10/23/2004 Mark Jeangerard wrote in from United States  (64.42.nnn.nnn)

Im not sure where you live, but here, flood control comes in the way of ditches with really nice trannies. Now, each state only has so much money and so much tax. This is your money. They have to figure out where to spend it. Sometimes, they ask you to help decide. A lot of people have some really silly ideas about where that money should go. Such as education, disability, cops, firemen, and programs for the elderly. Vote no on all that junk... redirect that money to flood control.

Be aware that sometimes they try to trick you. They say that money is going to be routed to "parks and recreation". Naturally, you and I think, "Killer! New bowls!" But city folk don't think that. They think, "Marvelous! New squash courts and a velodrome!" So don't fall for that.

Just trying to help,

MJ

Keep in mind that you live here *and* you can make a difference.

Who's going to make a better president?

Who cares?

How much money is spent making ditches?

We decide. Vote on your flood control bond issues. It's your money, how do you want it spent?
