Hey dudes,
After a full summer of riding, I've got my review up for the Carve Board:
Go to Review: www.longboarddirectory.com/reviews_carve_board_carveboard.html
Also, we made a quick riding video:
Download here: www.longboarddirectory.com/carveboard_review.avi
Enjoy!
Cheers,

The lakefront is cool and all but little hills and not much for excitement other than women. I know the parking lot under milenium park is pretty nice with a couple wide levels. The garage 322 East Illinois Street, which is the AMC movie theater is pretty nice too. Let me know if there is anybody else in chicago looking to garage surf.

Visiting Cleveland OH for the summer. Some kid just stole my longboard a while ago so I just bought a 38" coffin cruiser. The trucks and wheels were too small, but when i bought bigger wheels ther wers too much wheel bite.I made me self a 24" mini pintail cruiser out of hardwood pine. theres no wheel bite wen i put the big wheels on it.It looks awsome just like one of those old skool mini's.I recently tried skating under the interstate bridge, but i dunno if its illegal or not.

CX + risers

Big honkers. For the CX setup, it takes two 1/2" flat risers to accomodate 75mm Avilas on one deck, and a combo Original riser plus a couple 1/8" risers on the other. About 1" riser on both. Just stuck a few more pics of them up on pavedwave.org (gear page) Experimenting with Bones Hardcores and Khiro reds, but note that after hard carving the bushings can creep over the lip and get chewed up, so you gotta keep 'em tightened up. The other setup is a little surfer I give to kids to let them try it out, a Carver C7 with angled 1/4"--1/2" soft riser and 60mm NoSkools on a flippy Tony Hawk deck.
Carvers turn deep toward the middle of the deck where they can wheelbite, so I'm planning to burn a couple custom wheel wells next and shave off 1/4" of riser...

Peters, I'm curious how many risers and what wheels and bushings do you use with your cx7 set up. Thanks

What Board to buy?

I am interested in getting back into sidewalk surfing and need some tips on what kind of board to get. My primary use will be sidewalk travel to and from work a couple days per week. I need something that is going to handle the rough streets and some uneven sidewalk travel in between. Occassionally I would like to take it to the skate park in the pool. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Well, someone called the cops on us. We all got our information taken and if we're caught on the wall under the interstate again they can have us arrested and in jail overnight..
We're running out of places to longboard!

My friends and I live in Gainesville, Florida. There's a main road (I think called Newberry) that goes under the interstate and so there's a bridge. Under the bridge is this big slanted wall that was painted over with some scenery to make it look good. We decided to use our longboards on it, and to our amazement, it's fun as hell. My friend and I have gone up and down it for around a week now, and what makes it better is there is traffic just a few feet away that stops every few seconds. Because of this we get a lot of cheering, honking of horns, and stares from hot chicks.
Does anyone know if what we're doing is illegal or something? So far we've seen three cops, two of which payed no attention, and the other one stopped and watched before leaving while giving us a thumbs up. Today though my friend fell of his board and the board rolled to a stop near the traffic. This guy got out of his car and stopped traffic to yell at us about it but we just shrugged and kept on going.
Today this trick biker came by and totally blew us away when he went up the slant and jumped, did a 360, and landed it. We all took turns for a bit going up the slant, but my friend and I kept stopping just to watch him. We have both agreed now to learn some tricks to do on the longboard while going up the wall in order to not look as boring compared to a biker.
The only thing I'm afraid of is that we might have attracted attention from other skaters, and then next time we go we won't have a chance to ride...

Hey wackyfoot,
I noticed that you speak of Utah. Are you from the Park City area? Just wondering. I live around there and am always looking for fellow longboarders. I am somewhat new to the sport so its kinda cool to see other riders and have some visual aide!
Ride On.

Flex varies for me. It depends on the distance and terrain, flatland-3/4" flex, downhill-short with almost no flex, slight downhill with turns-probably a larger board with lots of flex for carving. My quiver consists of 30" to 60" between 9 boards, but it depends on my mood and how fast i feel like going.

I like a stiff deck. The board I ride most of the time is made with 1/2" aircraft aluminium so it is very stiff. I would not bomb a big hill on a flexy deck. The big down side to a stiff deck is the weight but I am working on that....
