Stride-I hope we dont see the death of slalom because of sub 6' slalom on Flat Ground, How Boring!!!!!!!!! If you want to mock US slalom, first you must beable to at least beat the bottom feeders of the Open Div in FCR.

Olson-I hearby declare after midnite(except weekends) "Olson After Midnite" As for DP being BLR, DP dances to his own tune, he is not confined to SSS, DP does whatever DP wants, thats why he is SSS.
As for the team thing, I'm all for it
Evans is SSS
Whoever else would like to take the challenge step up!

Lets do it like this, since some teams have more skaters then others, Lets take the top 4 skaters from each team.

Total points at end of contest
and
Seasons end.

At this point I'm sure the rest of SSS is up for the challenge, I know BLR is, Anybody else?

I also think that we need to come up with some type of points system other then what FCR uses.

Hows about the original Hester series points system?
1st 100
2nd 85
3rd 75
4th 65
5th 55
6th 50
7th 45
8th 40
9th-16th 25
remainder 15

Hugh-do you want sympathy or something? Take yer personal problems and attacks elsewhere please, why do you continue to come here and confront people, You did it the first day this forum started and you continue, WHY????

Binky-Why is Marty charging $150-200 an event? Regardless its on! I'll make a prediction also, You will be the only floridian to get anywhere close to the top 5, top 5 will consist of Californians.

Sar "IckChick ah-Weekends are all Kids all the time, I'll ask the dummys that cant read to please refrain from posting on this forum on weekends.

Mike-Great job on your course descriptions, I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head, You will have no problems setting and running courses, I can tell!

Jack-Can you believe some people, That morons OG post came after I had said on another forum that Nathan is gonna try and make all stars in baseball this year, So he wants to shoot me, and he hates me. Maybe he never got picked to play on a team by the other kids and now he is taking it out on anybody that is involved in organized sports. I hope he doesnt want to kill FCR for organizing slalom races, and all the racers that are trying to win a world championship.

Olson-I say we call the Team Challange, the "All Star Cup"

Antti-Arab has been my nickname since I was 10, I hide nothing, Everbody knows who I am, Who are you Killer? some guy that nobody knows, nobody wants to hear from, and somebody that comes on this forum only to start trouble.
I will ask you nicely Go Away Please. Your hate is not wanted here, please take it somewhere else. if this was somebody elses forum you would not be here, ONLY because my name is attached to it, you come here to start trouble, What is your reasoning for all this hate towards me?

GO AWAY.

Arab, Habbie, Hab, Rab, towelhead, Team Santana, whatever your name is this week. What's up with the disintigration of SSS? I hear that DP is a BLR surprise guest. And after all you did for him. Well, it just goes to show that friendship runs a distant second to the big Do-Ray-Me! What about team competitions this year? Here's how I see it. Teams are limited to four guys. Each racer gets the points they win. The one with the most points at the end of the year wins the team cup.

Da breakdown:

SSS = Chicken, Richie, Arab, Attila.

BLR = Olson, Hacket, Charlie, Mr. Surprise.

FCR = Cross, Woodman, Criddle, Merrick

Turner = Dunn, Maysey, Drayton, Floyd

Roe = Fluit, Gilmore, M. Dong, Gareth.

G&S = Mallard, Henry, Sherman, Kimbal

Comet = Salfi, Sully, Clayton, Jonathan

Unrestricted free agents:

Mollica ( Lots of points here )
Evans ( old but not cold )
Wes C. ( Who is that guy? )
Bill Whal ( He hates Hugh R. )
TK ( the Beast of the East )
Chaput ( More points here )
Micheal Stride. ( Nah! )

Let's get this party started all you whitebread Mother f#@!ers!

Da Worm.

SLALOM
On 3/5/2003 MIKE wrote in from (63.226.nnn.nnn)

to comment on the wide vs short spacing, here are my thooughts on slalom skiing. wide courses, while easier to ski, are harder to win at. with the gates that much offset and so much distance vertically, one screw up, and it is very hard to regain that speed. with tighter courses it is easier to mess up a few gates/ turns and make it up by generating more speed on teh next couple of gates. so, the winner of which one is better? the open course winner has more over all consistancy and precision while the tight course winner might have less technical ability, but more chutzpah and athleticism to get through it. with skating, it seems that the same might hold true, except that with more open courses i can see you getting a lot more speed than a tight course which means that a winner of an open course might have more balls to go faster and push their line to the edge that much more than the prancers that can dance their way through a tight course. then you need to factor in the skating/skiing medium. concrete vs snow. which one do you think hurts more to fall on? duh.
what type of skating course holds more prestige?

All-Stars
On 3/5/2003 Jack wrote in from (207.114.nnn.nnn)

Gee, I'm glad you think that I'm not that stupid...thanks.

Stereotyping adults who coach kids sports is as lame as stereotyping skateboarders.

I have coached numerous kids basketball teams. None of the kids were mine or related to me. I did it because recreation leagues never seem to have enough coaches. I have also coached pole-vaulting and high school level basketball. Yes, I did it because I love the sports and the kids involved.

I would love to coach my kids, however they both live in Colorado. My oldest son was never able to play sports due to being born with Lowe Syndrome (www.lowesyndrome.org). He was just placed in a Hospice Hospital last week.

Spacing
On 3/5/2003 Michael wrote in from (195.92.nnn.nnn)

Tight slalom is generally LESS than 6 foot, in my book. West Coast Americans have always tended to run wide open courses, East coasters generally tighter. Europeans really don't enjoy the wide easy courses you find in the 'sates. Racing proper tight cones on any hill teaches you control, pump and also how to really get things shifting underfoot.
You'll be amazed as to how quick your reactions will get the tighter you go. The human mind and body interface is an amazing thing. i am of the opinion that it is easier for a tight slalomer to race wide courses than the other way round. What do you think Arab?

Courses
On 3/5/2003 Arab wrote in from (24.24.nnn.nnn)

Mike-generally you have 3 types of courses, All pretty basic and easy to manipulate to your likeing or ability

Tight: useally straight cones set at 6'-9' centers, throw in the occaisional small offset 7-10' centers 6-1'" off.

Hybrid: Might have some charactiristics of both Tight and GS

GS: Some people have varying opinions about courses and their descriptions, GS to me doesnt necasarily mean that there will be no straight gates, Sometimes straight is necasary to get through a section in the road with a bad surface or to increase some speed on the hill etc,

GS cones around 8'-12' straight, Offsets 10'-30' set off from 1'-8'.

There is no real basic formala for any type of course because everybody has different opinions, Set what you can ride, make it more difficult/faster as you progress.

As far as being a kook goes, I reserve that for people that come on forums to look for people to kill, for instance Antti he is a good example of a kook. then there is the fictitous poster, Ross, he's a good example of a kook.

Thanx for dropping in Mike, keep us updated as to how it goes.

Thanx for being truthful about your Serial Killer Tendancies. I'm glad you come here to look for more parents to kill, Tell me, do you look them in the eye when you fire the gun or do you hide in the bushes like you do on these forums?

And tell me this Antti, Why do you come on skateboard forums and talk about Hating Me and Killing Parents of All Stars? This is a skateboard forum, what is all the hate about?

cone spacing
On 3/5/2003 mike wrote in from (63.226.nnn.nnn)

i know you are going to say go to the slalom board kook, but can either you arab or anyone else explain/ tell me about setting a slalom course? i thought that you guys would be able to explain it to me better/ more objectively than the slalom board. i woudl hope you guys could tell me what a course woudl look like from a flow point of view. i coach a ski racing team and regulary set slalom and gs courses for the kids to train and race on. i am going to get into slalom skateboarding this summer and want to know how to set a course. first- what is typical spacing vertically between cones in different types of slalom courses, and when do you hit GS spacing? second- what is the theory between alternating between offset and linear settign fashon? third- what do you use to measure out vertical spacing? with skiing it is easy- you can put one ski vertical on the snow and measure out ski lengths as you slide down the hill, and then go for the offset. let me know or bring on the abuse for posting in the wrong forum.

John, I will take some of the blame for allowing Nature Boy to advance to the final eight...He fell during our first race. I had a second and a half lead going into our second race. I left the gate fast but played it safe, ran the cones clean while trying not to DQ. Instead he went berzerk, criddled a key cone and beat me...I learned my lesson. I will never again back off again in racing. I would rather kook and go down like Olsen did on his ass against Salfi then be conservative as I was.

arab, thanks for the compliments regarding my analytic
skills! I will take your comments under advisement.

in the meantime I have a question for you. I got this
slalom DVD to learn more about slalom, but I think something
is wrong with it. It is a race called la costa 2002, I
hear it is the most important race of them all?

anyway, I watched it but something must be wrong with my
copy? A bald guy from ohio with a helmet shaped
like a poo wearing taped up lycra wins the race? Did this
happen or is something wrong with my DVD? thanks!

There must be some european, Australian, New Zealand, and South American cement parks as well that were built in the 70s still standing??!!
