Brixton Cycles have it, though the last ones went quickly, more on the way. We do mail order (www.octanesport.com), as do Lush Longboards. I have seen CW in various newsagents in the suburbs, but I reckon some of the newsagents in Soho/Oxford Street may have it in. Borders might be worth a shot, but try asking if they can get it in, from 'comag' though its not on their website yet. I'll be intriqued as to what catorgory they put it in because 'Thrasher' is under Teenage' Wheras 'Slap' is under 'Sport'. I'm betting it will be in the 'home building' catorgory!

At Van's tonight and riding the pool and come out to get some much needed liquid and this 16 or 17 year old kid comes up to me and asks me to adopt him because he wants a dad who skates.
A little bizarre if you ask me but cool that we are recognized.
My goal is to skate until I can't walk anymore. Great excercise!

Currently 43, and a couple of years ago I was skating on the street, doing a handstand. A dad and son ride by on bikes, and the son exclaims, "Look dad - even old people ride skateboards!"!!!! We have to pass the groove to the young ones. It's our duty.

Mark Lake, 46, takes like 10th in the Kona Nationals Vert this last year. Frontside handplants, Lake flips, huge Methods etc. Bruce Walker ripping it up at 51. Cab, TA, Salba all still killin it. I don't think we're anywhere near the limit yet... if there is one.

A few years ago when my son was 5, I was the "guest reader" at his pre-K class. You sit and read a small book to the kids and give the teacher a break. Upon finishing it a I ask if anyone has any questions. They are all dead quiet, shy, and this one boy raises his hand with a gleam in his eye and an enthusiastic smile says..."Mr. Marinak, can you grind?" It was a cool moment...and I could sense we had a future hardcore skater right there. We all talked about skateboarding, no one asked about the book.
Every year they have a fund raiser for the school. A couple years ago I brought in a complete board signed by Alan Gelfand. Out of all the stuff every family brought in, the skate raised the most. And it's the only item all the kids ask about... "Is Mr. Marinak going to bring a signed skateboard for the fund raiser this year?" It's a stoker for me and I'm glad to fuel the fire.

When I was sixteen my neighbor asked me, "aren't you a little old to be riding a skateboard?". It's now 38 years later and the answer is still the same, no! At 52 in Breckenridge, CO, I took first place in the Open tight slalom race. At 53, I made it to the semi finals in the Spring Nationals Speedboarding Championships in San Francisco, CA. Although almost any ten year old can skate circles around me at a park, I still enjoy riding there. I don't mind if people refer to me as a middle aged skater. If I am, then I'm going to live to be 108. Don't be surprized to see me skating at 60, 70, 80 and beyond.
Sincerely, Cliff Coleman
