No Internet & Summer Plans...

No Internet? Chances are I wouldn't be skating. #1: Wouldn't have gotten the 'spark' that resulted in me becoming interested in the history of boarding, etc. #2: Wouldn't know a good setup from a Wal-Mart special (well, not past what the local skate shop could relate, anyway). #3: Wouldn't have had a CLUE to all the nice parks "out there" (thus, wouldn't have taken my boards on travel, on vacation, or on road trips). #4: Wouldn't know a THING about longboarding. #5: Ditto slalom -------------------
Summer plans: I was going to solve world hunger, but it sounds like psYch0Lloyd has it under control. Since the kiddies are swarming the few not-so-local parks, I'll probably longboard a bunch. Intend to do some slalom as well (maybe at night in some parking lots I've been eyeballing). We have no vacation plans this summer (bummer) due to other activities: My son has his first real job (as a lifeguard <g>), is taking driver's ed, and has a week-long enrollment in a pre-college music program at the local university (he's been playing the guitar since he was eight -- might as well try to put his passion to good use). However, I have a tentative business trip to Southern California towards the end of August. If this trip happens, I'll probably take a couple of days to reacquaint myself with the San Diego and/or LA area. Either way, I'll have plenty of vacation days left for this Fall -- when the kiddies return to school and the parks thin out.

Hello knucklehead...(seems odd to call you this, as I don't know you. Perhaps your a genius). When your in so Cal make sure to hit up the Laguna Nigel park. It's so much fun! Glendale is scheduled to open this fall perhaps it will be done then too. It sounds incredable... You should post your travel plans so all the So Cal skating enthusiasts can join in the adventure too.
Just a thought. Enjoy!

Howdy, The Sacramento Vans is on indefinite "hold". It was due to open in October, but was put on ice about 5 or 6 weeks ago, after Van's coporate an- nounced their skateparks were losing money. Bummer for those of us in the central valley. However, the Ripon park is a blast(although it's about 70 minutes south of Sac-town)! If you can, check it out. It's free, and a lot of fun. Have a great summer Knuckelhead! Chris Olden

This summer I will be spending as much as time as possible in Les Deux Alpes, France, snowboarding on a glacier, racing in the streets, and eating french food, staying at Martin draytons summer chalet. Heres a pic from a couple of years ago....jsut shows you we were racing every summer for years.

I've always wanted to do something about hunger. So this summer I've designed then built and am now testing a high efficiency farming technique employing hydroponics which will eventually involve some aqua culture. The solution had to be simple (and inexpensive, using existing materials), efficient (high output), and modular (scalable) with the capabilities of being deployed in war-torn or drought stricken countries (portable and requiring low maintenance).
Currently also fabricating the Wicked in wood/foam/carbon, developing a new truck design along w/cnova, getting the adjustable angled riser on the market (this project is running later than anticipated). Oh yeah, and still need to set aside some time to make some gloves...
...whew!

So I'm gonna be in T.O. this Thursday through Sunday, and other than popping by Roarocket to pick up some veneer on Friday morning, I'm pretty free. I was thinking of checking out Cummer park on Thursday. Is it worth bringing my park board? Any shops or spots that are must see?
As for summer fun, I'm going to try to relearn my already poor vert skills, run some cones, race when it doesn't rain, longboard session my favorite parking garage, and make lots of decks and trucks.

My job takes me all over the country... so every trip is sorta like a mini-vacation. Next week June 19-22 I will be near Sonoma, CA. Will be hitting some spots up there during my free time. In July I will be in the Northeast (Rye, Nashua here I come!). Middle of July in Tahoe for 4 days (Grass Valley, Strawberry...) End of July, Milwaukee (4 Seasons) Chicago (?) August... Salem, OR!!! Need I say more! Will go out a few days early. Sacramento... is Vans open? St. Paul, MN... Third Lair September... Vegas for 2 days (will check out the new Anthem park) S. Cal for a week (pick a park!) Orlando, FL (Lake Mary or Vans) Whew...

When everyone is taking a summer vacation with thier kids and family, I`m at the height of my buisy season, and that bugs me...literally.
I got a funny call a week or so ago, OLLie was having termites swarming into OLLiewood so bad that the ramp was getting slippery and they had to shut it down until the bug shgutz could be cleaned off. He called me in a panic and having seen the situation the night before, I asked, "Is the street light on over the front door?"..."Yup,..." was his answer..."and someone left the door open." So I says..."Close the door and turn that light out".
You see, this pest control stuff is highly scientific...
Enjoy your summer boyz and girlz!!!
(PS, they were Formosan termites and not Drywood termites)

Skate the Westminster Van's park until it closes. Skate the Denver and Boulder bowls. Skate the EXPN bowl when the weather is sketchy. Buy some cones, a decent TS deck, and run cones. Run more cones. Scout out some good hills for cruising, carving, bombing. Film and take pics. Look for hot skate MILFs.

Hi folks
It's nice to be able to post the following:
mag is on its way to the printer....
we will have copies ready for the big CW lst year anniversary party at cummer skate park in Toronto - June 21st...
You will see some pretty cool stuff in there!
Next issue is August....trust me when I say that your head will explode when you see what we've got cooking....
I am truly amped on what's happening out there... it's summer and things are cooking.
So, on that note, what are your plans for summer?

Lately a certain PITA photographer has been leaving messages on my cell phone. He sounds rather effeminate (not that there's anything wrong with that), and all the calls originate from the Dallas area.
I wonder who that could be?
