Yeah PBR or any other cold one helps. Try to get a car for shuttling to. There is nothing like jumping in a nice, cool car at the end of your run. Get your skating in early or at night. During the heat of the day it just plain sucks.

This, as I prepare for a trip to ABQ next week to celebrate my son's b-day.
But it's a DRY heat, right?? It's suppossed to hit 100 degrees in DC with high humidity, so maybe we'll get a break in NM. Plus, I hear the heat in ABQ is pretty tolerable w/cold PBR!

It gets pretty hot here, been like 95 or so. No skating outside during the day. But after dark it isn't too bad. The TSR crew went out during the day the other day and Joe was rocking leathers. Ouch! I prefer to get shuttled in an air conditioned car. Have the car waiting and climb in. Beats the heat. But at night the temp drops to about 70ish and it is not so bad. Skating the ditches in Albuquerque during the day this time of year is almost enbearbale. It is HOT!

It's turning to meltdown mode here in the east...I spent most of the day trying to cool down...
And it looks like this for the rest of the week.
In order to bring things back on track I am wondering...
when, in your mind is it TOO HOT to skate...conversely...when is it too cold?
I know I melted in Texas...I can't imagine New Mexico being any easier in the blazing summer sun...
As for cold, I can handle 32..but anything below that gets mighty chilly

Well how about this one:
Oh, one question. Which is more gay: spending time reading a magazine about skateboarding or reading a magazine and wondering about what kind of fashion statement different shoes make when standing around posing and talking s#@! about other skaters?
So it is about fashion somehow? All you old schoolers who generalize about what skaters do need to look in the mirror. Dude, not everyone is obcessed with shoes. Maybe this is why people hate CW because a lot of the reader spew this SH1T all the time. You get mad when you talk just as much smack as anyone else. How old are you? You act like you are 12.
I am intolerant, of idiots. I am judgemental, of fools. Hypocritcal? I guess so. I am a hypocrite for speaking my mind.
A lot of us spend too much time worrying about crap, getting fired up over stuff that is totally stupid and unrelated to skateboarding. We point fingers, call names, over generalize and just waste time. I hope this there are no more "this is gay" or "this is what is wrong with skateboarding." Stop acting like people who street skate care more about fashion than skating. That is not the case. Go out and skate, have fun, and quit being so negative. It gets old. Let's talk about something good.
Anyone have fun skating lately. I have bombing a hill called Wilderness Gate in Santa Fe, NM. It is super fun, 30ish mellow downhill all the way to downtown and my house with no pushing. Couple miles. Super fun. What have you all been skating?

Judgemental

Hypocritical
"I get sick of people acting like they know everything."
And intolerant.
Congratulations. You've achieved the trifecta. Give yourself a prize. Maybe a copy of I'M OK, YOU'RE OK?

WT, all I want is people to not be idiots and lash out at people. Street skating and kickflips have nothing to do with any of this. I get sick of people acting like they know everything. All I know is your post, and others, make you look stupid. Just as stupid as the folks at CD. I guess I am stupid to, for trying to talk to anyone about this. Grow up.

The difference between my post and yours is I told no one to do anything. I haven't said anyone needs to do anything differently to some arbitrary standard. You seem to have no reticence to tell me what to do, how to act and what needs to be done to conform to YOUR standards.
I read and commented. You read and demanded. Who's the one that's phobic, intolerant and needs to get over one's self?
"Grow up" "Stop" "Quit" "Keep it on topic"
Now, is there anything else you'd care to TELL me to do or is one foot in your mouth enough for one day?

God this whole CD thing has gotten way out of control. Why is it so important to you guys. Also, I grabbed one of WTs quotes as a reference, let's look: Quote from WT: That Concrete Disciple thread is incredibly informative. As an old school skater I've often wondered what pukish little groms thought about when standing in one place trying to do the same trick over and over and never nailing it -
They are obviously obsessed with homosexuality and male performance.
Funny. When I was skating in the '70s and '80s, we always talked about chicks and urethane. Times do change.
Oh, one question. Which is more gay: spending time reading a magazine about skateboarding or reading a magazine and wondering about what kind of fashion statement different shoes make when standing around posing and talking s#@! about other skaters?
I guess the next thing will be color coordinated man purses that will glitter in different colors when jumping up and down doing a kickflip ONE MORE TIME!
Dude, quit with the homophobia. Plus the guys at CD are mostly park and pool skaters. Why the lash out at street skating? Keep it on topic. This post is just as bad as the vile spew on CD. It is no different. Old school, new school get over it. The reality is some stupid people made some stupid comments and now you are returning the favor. How old are you? Grow up.
Stop lumping people together and stereotyping. It is gay. And I don't mean homosexual, I mean it is immature. Try and laugh at stuff instead of getting fired up.

Outsmart the black box! Just Control-C ("Copy") your post, type the number in the black box- and, if it doesn't take, Control-V ("Paste") your post again. It's saved my ass a few times, being the long-winded bastard that I am...
I'm wondering if Buddy's blog may have been just a smidge tongue-in-cheeck...?
I believe that all skaters should be broken down into discriminate groups, based on their intelligence quotients, gross income, disposable income, brand awareness, buying frequency, and how well they conform to generally accepted definitions of "skateboarder", or, niche version thereof. This is the only true way to effectively sell them the stuff that they'll never really need. Like, studded bracelets, trucker hats, and spandex accessories. My market research shows me that pink polka-dotted leotards will be the "next big thing" with independent-minded skateboarders, especially the "hardcore" contingency, and I am adjusting my monthly sales projections accordingly.
Obviously, I take this sort of thing verrrry seriously.

I've messed up with the black box, but the "back" button in Firefox saved my post (not that it's loss would have meant anything)
...but about Buddy's blog over at concretewavemagazine.com
I found it a bit ironic that a guy who rants about stereotyping and the individual nature of skateboarding would espouse yet another way to categorize skaters. Then again, I'm not a big fan of pigeonholing. Adding irony to my response, how about these categories:
1. those who like skateboarding (in any form) 2. those who like watching skateboarding (in any form) 3. pond scum 4. skater haters

Thanks, Karl. That and a couple of e-mails took care of what I wanted to know.
In a nutshell I was told by a good friend who works for a local police department that a local "kid" was arrested for some serious crimes: breaking and entering, vandalism, resisting arrest, etc. I say "kid" because that's the way he was described to me. I don't know if he's 12 or 22.
In the course of his booking he told the arresting officer that he was "a well-connected guy with lots of big companies looking out for me. I'm the (blank) ranked skateboarder in the United States!" (I won't say what ranking he blurted out because that could be connected to a real skater. Don't want anyone to think I'm saying something nasty about someone in particular.)
Well, I know the perp's name and looked for it all over including some web searches of my own. Zip. Nothing. Nada. Quite honestly, I can't even find a well-performing skater in the state of South Carolina. At least none that list SC as their home. Well, except ME of course.
But, that's another story entirely.
Oh, this had nothing to do with any sort of criminal investigation. There was no invasion of privacy or breach of confidentiality. An arrest record is public knowledge. Knowing the guy's name and doing a search was nothing unusual. I was just curious if there was a major player in lockup in Charleston County. As I was once told by a man far wiser than me, "if you don't want your name in the paper don't get it on the police blotter!"

Can anyone tell me if there's a comprehensive listing of "top skateboarders in the USA?" Is it available on the web? Is there more than one?
The only one I read is slalomranking.com but I'm looking for a list of the top street and vert skaters. It might be listed by contest victories or gross income or whatever.
If there is more than one could the links to all of them be made available? I'm doing a little bit of research and hoping to catch a break. Thanks.
