Hey man,
I have a comet street slalom: 33" long, 20something inch wheelbase and sweet flex. I used to have a cosmic 3 too, actually still do but loaning it out to a buddy. This thing is like a super improved version: bamboo V-lam core for superb snappy flex, fiberglass sandwich and two layers of maple on each side.
The newer version of this board is called the scramjet, well actually I think Comet is coming out with their 2005 line soon so its kinda old.
The scramjet is a 34" Cambered board with concave, exactly like the street slalom in construction except for it has a carbon fiber reinforcement in the tail to keep it stiff.
I originally set out to buy this board last summer but got the older street slalom instead cuz it was on sale. I think now that the scramjet is older it is on sale too at the comet website, , quite a steal for such a sweet board ($68 for the deck, $135 complete w/ randals and the softest comet wheel)

Howdy,
I'm looking for a board with a similar shape to the Sector 9 Cosmic3 or the Lush Bahari... however I happened to snap my Sector9 C3... and I've heard horror storries of the Bahari snapping as well. THe board I'm looking for would have a short spoon or pointed nose with no kicktail, the midsection would be cambered for supreme flex and concaved for control, and most importantly it would need a kicktail. If anyone knows of a board coming close this description PLEASE let me know. I can't help but thinking that it just might not be out there. I've searched EVERY longboard manufacturer I could find... and only came up with the Gravity Spoonnose (too flat), the Sector9 C3 (had one and broke it), and the Lush Bahari (heard stories of breaks).

Hey, I'm interested in starting longboarding, but I have no clue what kind of complete setup ill be needing. I skateboard, and I love going down the hills we have around here, so I think I need something that can go down some middle-sized hills? Anything anybody wants to tell me would be great. Thanks.

Keep the 150's, Wade. Try this stuff:
- Set up the rear truck a tad tighter than the front.
- Use a good quality high-rebound bushing combo in the front truck...you know the names: Radikal, Stimulator, Bones hardcore, Khiro.
- For the rear truck, use a high-density RUBBER bushing combo, or at least one on the bottom. I like the Randal black DH bushings. I'll be trying Geezer's latest bushing soon.
- Finally, if you don't already have the rear truck de-wedged, do it...even if it's just cutting up a few soft 1/8" spacers and jackin'up the rear of the rear truck.
Try that and report back.

The best board is the board in your quiver you like best. There are so many good boards and so many different types, there's no one answer. And if you like flexy, check out the Loaded series. They pump forever.

Wade, I have Randal 150s on my C2 and absolutly love the set up with 75a Flashbacks. I put the medium bones hardcore bushings in mine and it is very quick turning. Its not the board I would go out and rip big hills on, but for the driveway, running the dog, general transportation its the board I go to. It rips a mean little hill as well, but like I said, not for the steeps.

I recently bought a sector 9 cosmic 2 deck with randal 150's. When i get my speed up any the board starts to get really wobbly and i feel out of control. I was wondering if I should look into getting the randal 180's...if they might give more stability or if any other brands or sizes give better stability. Just looking for some help, i'm open to just about anything.

Thanks for the input! I have a pair of Seismics 105mm on a slalom board... but I can't say I care for them... I'm sure it's different on a park setup, but still... I'm really loving the RTS/X right now... But the Randal 150 front / Traditional (maybe RTS) rear on a longer WB sounds very promising... Duane, you recommend the Comet 40" for this combo? I probably will be carving the bowls more than hitting the coping, as I've spent quite a lot of time at Revere and LOOOOVE the banks.
As far as wheels, I have a set of 96a/65mm NoSkools from an old trade board... would these be too hard and slippery for carving up a new concrete park? Maybe some 88 or 92 strikers?

I second Chuck's suggestion for the Seismics. I have my Comet Proflex Park 36" set up with 155mm Seismics, and I used to use 92A - 94A 65mm Abec11 NoSkoolz, which were very grippy and confidence-inspiring on concrete. If the Seismics feel too squirelly, try a Randal 150mm RII on the front and any conventional truck on the back. I also like that setup; I have it on my Comet Proflex Park 40" deck.
Main thing is, for your height and park experience, I'd suggest at least an 18" wheelbase with turny trucks. Although this kind of setup might be harder at first to get up and over the coping, etc., it will be great for carving bowls and other roundwall terrain. I'm 6'1", and it's just my opinion, but I really like the surfier feel of a longer wheelbase. Even at 16", I feel like my ankles are somewhat tied together.

im tryin to decide on what kind of longboard to get, im pretty much gonna use it just for cruisin around, not any serious downhill riding. should i get a flex, hardwood, or does it matter?? i love the look of the hardwoods but i read somewhere that they are better for more intense downhill carving. i appreciate any input.

I was thinking about getting one of those comet boards too. I like the 35"x9" oldschool shaped one.
I think I would just set the board up with some appropriately wide Indy's (the 156/159s would probably be about right for a 8.5" board
Then get a wheel in the 60-70 mm range maybe in a low to mid 90s duro for a little more grip and forgiving feeling. You might wanna slap some bones hardcores in the Indy's too, they make turning way better. Some people also really seem to like the Khiros but I personally find their urethane to be kind of dead feeling at they don't hold up well.
That would be my recommendation. You could also go the Randal route and get some 150s (I think its sold complete with randals and the hardest comet wheel which seems like a sweet setup.

Hey there everybody-
I'm researching my first park board (they're putting in a small park here in Santa Monica) and was looking for some suggestions. I'm liking the Comet 36" park board for weight, size, and sturdiness/reinforcement (I'm 6'3, and a BIG dude) and was wondering if anyone had good truck / wheel suggestions.
I'm usually just a carver / parking structure bomber / occasional mid-speed bomber / boardwalk cruiser. My other favorite boards are my 38" Kebbek smoothcut w/ 83mm flywheels and randal 180s, and my landyachtz mummy with RTS/X 129mm and soft Flashbacks.
Any thoughts?

had a closer look at those trucks, looks like a variation of the torsion type truck, reminds me of the tierney trucks. It mentions that it has 'suspension' capability...
