steve, that spot you are talking about off the 97 is the legendary maryhill loops rd.
there were races on it in 2000 and 2001 put on by EDI. last year timeship racing put on a race there and is planning on doing it again this year..june 24-25th.
the maryhill ratz, composed of guys from OR and WA skate that hill on a regular basis, post something on coastlongboarding.com if you want to ride with us.

I am bombing Haleakala volcano on the isle of maui this weekend. It is a 37 mile downhill from the top. I wonder if it will be a worlds record for distance if I make it the entire way. I don't even know the grades but we will find out the hard way.

I have a few spots scoped out in St.Goerge Utah.The Virgin Pass on I-15 would be a blast.Fresh black top too.I've never skated on an interstate before,yet.Would need a crew,and planning.Even though illegal,safety factors would be involved.
Thought I found a good 2 lane in Montana, hwy 28, sw of Flathead Lake. New black-top and 8 miles of down-hill and switch-back. But it ends at a 't',don't think one could slow down in time.
I cross into Washington alot on hwy 97 out of Oregon. As you cross over the river and up the hill past Stonehenge, there is a long,winding,down-hill road in the gorge,I've never seen a car on it and it looks smooth from a distance. If it's skateable, this would be an excelent racing spot.
I think about places to skate alot more than I do. Last week I had 4 days off in Huntington Beach, skating and surfing.Seen an old-timer on an exskate electric.In a few days I'll be going threw Coeur d'Alene Idaho, if the weathers good I'll park at the rest area and skate the bike trail,(lots of short-steep hills.

been towed by a dog,motorcycle,car and a sport-kite---lots of fun. I have an Elcamino that runs on propane and I'm going to install a ski boat tow-bar on it. Who gets towed and how fast and what equipment? Also who bombs interstates?

Thanx Paul for your responce. I ordered that Swift42 glassed, I ordered the wheels and bearings from another vender to save a few bucks $272 with the ship&handling. Those Flys are expensive, I was told I'll like them though. I have to many carvers and now I want a hi-speed board. I drive truck for a living, from the Missouri River to the westcoast and up and down, so I see alot of rideable stuff. I want to do Canyon Creek Pass, 6% for 8 miles on 4 month old asphalt. It's I-5 so I'll have to do it on sunday early AM. I drive this alot so I'm getting familiar with the lines. If they would smooth out Loveland Pass (7% 7 mile) like CCPass in Oregon, well that would be insane.

Bob, or Bopb or whatever, I would recommend a landyachtz dh race with 180's and some gumballs, or grippins, it is a WAY nice carver, but has a very low center of gravity, making it very stable. As for Steve, that board would be great for downhill, but if you put on some randall 180's it would be way sweet for carving if thats what you're looking for, I would say that board would be around or a bit above 200 bucks.

loaded vanguard or lanyachtz's evo with randall 180's on both, i want to know what someone would rather own for cruising purposes. yes downhill and yescarving and such i know, but which would you rather cruise with, the loaded vanguard flex 2 or landyachtz's evo. tryin to buy a new board and im torn between the two.

get a 3'' drum sander or a 1/2 round rasp, a 1/2 round cross cut file and the biggest deep soket you can get ahold of to rap some 150 grit sand paper around and cut-out some wheel-wells in that z-flex. I think the lower the deck is to the ground the more pleasurable it is to ride (without the dreaded wheel-bite ofcoarce).

I actually reveived a complete deck from the US in late Jan which due to a back injury I haven't had an opportunity to try out yet. It's a Z-Flex Jay Adams with Jay's Grindking trucks and Krypto K70s. It's sort of a cross between the old pig boards and the new popsicle styles. It's a large board and I'm just aching for my back to heal so I can go for a ride. My only concern is wheel bite (it has 1/4 inch risers) hence my question about trucks for the next board I order (fulfilling childhood dreams).

Mark I run indy 169's (9" axle) and indy 215's (10" axle) on my Bulldogs.
If you outfit them with some real soft bushings (stims, jimz, radikal, bones or khiro's) they turn quite well. You can also wedge them for quicker turning.
If you need shaper turning than that go for original's or carver's.
Their not old school at all, though.
Bennet is re-issueing their truks soon, and those might work well.
But indy's 169's with some wide BDS wheels and soft bushings might be your best bet.

I'm looking to put together and Old school style board. I was thinking of a Dogtown Bulldog deck (10" x 30") and was wondering what sort of trucks to outfit it with. I'm wanting something that can turn well (I rode one of these popsicle decks and it hardly turned at all) and in keeping with the old school
theme can someone sugest a model of Trackers, Gull Wing or Indy's that would do the job for me.
