I have been in contact with the flowlab people. When I spoke with them a month ago, they were out of stock on their boards. When they get some in they say they will contact me so that I can go test ride one. When that happens I will post my thoughts on their set-up. They look cool, but it remains to be seen on how they ride... HR

Has anyone tried a flowlab yet? Or ordered and recieved one? It looks like it would be an interesting downhill board, but aggresive inline wheels sliiiide! They state something about shipping pre-orders in the order recieved. Is there a wait? Are they Real? If anyone is in the know, fill me in. I have not been able to contact them.

I recently picked up the Dregs 38" Biker Sherlock model with Invader trucks and new style 70mm red kryps. This board shreds! Its a great board for cruising, downhill, and bowls! I was lucky enough to get a deal from an old skateshop bro and picked up the entire setup for a little over $100 (it retails for $136 complete - still a great deal). You have to ride the unique board to appreciate it! I've been riding over 24 years and this board blows away anything I have rode to date!

I just got the new 45" deck with their torsion trucks (w/ amber bushings)and 76mm wheels. I am diggin it. The deck is light, a nice little flex (for me at 190), a good kick tail, and mellow concave. The amber bushings are great. The wheels are fast. I am definitly happy.

Carve update

Update on the carvin scene. I have been carving up the Since I got this thing. I really really enjoy it. My buddy just bought one yesterday. We were skateboarding in the parking lots right across the street from mi casa and we were discussing how def the thing is and he said "This is the same damn conversation we have been having fo four weeks... I gotta get one!" My buddy broke out his old skateboard (some old powell with not much left of the tail 20" at best). The first time I rode it I realized that it was set up with real real tight trucks for ramp skating. I was used to carving on my carve and that board just slid around everywhere instead. In the end I fell hard on my shoulder... 4 weeks and 30 darvocet later I'm cool. I went back to my parents house and hit the jackpot in their shed. Here's the haul
Decks: Powell Per Wellinder Powell Mike Mcgill Powell Caballero (this one is in great shape and beautiful it is going in my office!) Some other deck big with flip nose and tail Trucks: Gullwing pheonix Old Trackers Wheels: Set of Old visions Set of old powells
Right now I'm livin like I was 12 again on the wellinder with the gullwings and visions. What a cool skateboard that thing was and is.
Do you guys think that any of those truck/wheel combinations would cut it if I got a used longboard deck?
Skateboarding is fun!!
Sonny
P.S. That question about the wiiide wheelbase: this is the way that carve boards are set up and I bet it is one of the reasons that they can turn so sharply

The Indy's surprised me with their performance,as I'm a big Randal fan.The board has alot of camber, and it performs unbelievable! This board is the coolest thing I've ever ridden. I took it on my favorite hill consisting of many curves and a very sharp 90 at the bottom. The extreme concave let me feel and really dig when going around corners. It's very wide and pretty long so that adds a boost of confidence. If anyone is in to downhill skateboarding/speedboarding, or just haulin' azz down a hill, I suggest this board, it'll meet all your downhill needs.

my brother did that to a freestyle deck, and mounted xt wheels to it, and bindings. like jessie and adam said, it makes it turn sharper, because it increases the angle of the trucks. it is hard to tell if it is any more stable though, because it is pretty high with the xt's, but i bet it is more stable then the regular setup, because it is lower, and has a wider wheel base. later, rob

This was one of many interesting boards that showed up at an NCDSA meet last year in Fremont, CA. I rode it myself, and remember that it felt like a snowboard. Very low ride height, which gave good stability, and contrary to speculation on this forum, it turned quite well. I think it had 70mm wheels, not 65s. It was not just a freestyle deck with trucks mounted on the kicks -- it was purpose built, and if I remember correctly, it looked pretty professional, not just a one-off homemade.

concerning that picture... wouldn't putting the trucks on the nose and tail like that make it turn easier? but the more I look at it the more I can't figure out how the trucks are set up so I'll just shut up and be confused.

You actually have a pretty fair review there. And here I was all amped up to bitch and moan about how you couldn't possibly even begin to review the board after a couple hour's ride. Not a bad job--although that is still a pretty small hill you're carving there (joking with you).
The board definitely stays fun. However, the better you get on one, the harder it is to go back and forth between conventional longboards and freebords. The difference in riding style between the two is just wacky. (I had been carving steep stuff on my tvs board of roughly the same length, put it in my car, and got out the freebord for the same stretch. I dropped in, regretted it, and couldn't stick my line. Felt like a beginner all over again until some time later that day.) Straight-on speed is still sletchy after a few months on mine. I have to keep it in constant check by carving and sliding, but hey, that's what it was designed for, right?
Longterm quality: Normal wear and tear. The deck is in fair shape after numerous curb smacks. The trucks are quite tough. The hardware (specifically, the center caster) is a little gunked up from road grime and is in desperate need of a scrubbing and lube. Compared to other boards, wheel wear is excessive, since you are always sliding on them. The freebord folks really stick by their product though; so even if I had a quality problem I know they'd make it right.

I just got this board yesterday...IT'S RAD. I hav'nt got the chance to take it on any hills yet 'cause of school and work but I took it down my friend's street which is at a bit of an incline and I can tell that it's gonna be great. I used to have a Freeride senorita lovejoy deck but this one is so much wider and it has a grip of concave. Of course I have my trusty Randals and Cherry-bombs with abec-7 bSb speed bearings. After I drop my favorite hill tomorrow, I'll tel you guys how it performed. L8Z
