and their bearings are cheap greaseballs, not really what i would want. i dont really care for their boards either, but if you want one check out solid skate and they will build you a board with great trucks (randals) good bearings (bones swiss or bones china) better wheels than the 9balls like kryptos, power paws, gravity, or exkate, and they have all kinds of boards on their that you may find to be better.

the only problem i've really seen with completes from sector 9 is the trucks. pivots aren't exactly what you want to be skating on given all the much better options.

Thanks Hugh!!!! I just emailed every BMW dealer I could find in Florida. The quest is on....I`ve gotta be the first in my area to own the new Beemer.
Their site ROCKS!!!
One flaw I see is that they didn`t skin the board with alum- inum and anodized it gun metal blue (my favorite BMW color) hehehe!!!

If there's anyone out there who doesn't hate Flexdex's besides me, they've got several different models at gear.com at reduced prices right now. Just don't blame me.

Jeff,
I recommend you ask to have the holes located at the extreme ends of the board. I ended up redrilling to get this, which made the board really come alive (I weigh 200#) but now the beautiful vlam deck has unneeded holes. :(

From what it sounds like, you're not going to be doing any serious carving but rather just kicking around school and what not....stay with the Indys which is what Tahoes completes come with....good luck

Adam, thanks for the post on the Peregrines. I thought about my question after I posted it, and I assumed the flex issue would be as you stated. Ordered a 35" Talon. I think I will be pleased.

I have the Talon (35") and have tried Chris Sturhan's Stinger (48"). The rides are totally different. The Talon is a tightly sprung slalom board (albeit a long one), while the Stinger is much mellower with a slower and deeper bounce. Think of the difference between an alto and tenor saxaphone and there you have it.

Here`s an old school Fibreflex that is still in action. Equipped with Gullwing Street Shadow trucks, KRYPTOS black 63mm, Angled soft-thane risers. This sucka will carve cones a foot apart.

Here`s what I ride most of the time. This G&S Fibreflex "Leemo Kicktail" model measures 38 inches. It`s set up with Randall II`s and G&S Rollers, cheapy ABEC 6 bearings along with spacers and speed washers, 1/8" soft thane pads, and an old school tail plate. The ride is swift and carves nicely with that predictable snap Fibreflex is famous for. It`s not as flexy as my 44' Kicktail but since it seems as a cut down version of this, that would be expected.
Here's a picture of it
((thanx to chris chaput for the code!!))

I currently own a comet 44 inch longboard with Randall II trucks, china bones bearings, and power paw wheels. I love this setup. RII's Kick ASS. For christmas, I received a tahoe longboard fusion 39. This board is shorter and feels different from my Comet 44. I need some suggestions on which trucks, bearings and wheels to purchase for it. I am planning on just cruising around my school and maybe take it to a skatepark. Should I buy RII's again? Which bearings are best for longboards? Any help will be much appreciated

Flexy speed

It depends on the nature of the flex,a sagging birch board won't be to bad at speed, add some glass, which adds springiness, and bumps to the road and you have a scary ride.Flexiness losses it's appeal to me in the low thirties.

Thanks for the advice... I definately am going to get R2's if not a whole new board. I understand that cambered and other (flat)boards with flex such as my s9 are better for carving, but lose stability at high speeds when compared to boards w/o flex. But how fast do you need to be going before this takes effect? What do you guys think of the trade off?

The most dramatic upgrade you can make would be to change trucks. I gather you're riding the Pivot/US 9's that come stock with Sector 9 boards? You'd almost certainly be happier with Randal-II's. These trucks are much more comfortable at higher speeds, and also much more responsive. You could also consider Seismics, Indy's, and Exkate Torsions.
Wheels would be next. If you're riding 65mm wheels you might bump this up to 70mm (or more if you're interested in speed). I'm really happy with the smooth ride and grippy feel of 70mm, 74a Power Paws -- but I ride on some weird-ass Maine roads with many surface irregularities. Harder wheels would be good if you want to get into controlled sliding.
As to boards, maybe something with camber? This is getting into really subjective territory, and it would be great if you could try out some different boards. But failing that, a good browse of the "Decks" archives here is time well spent, as also is time spent perusing the wares at www.solidskate.com and www.longskate.com. There's a lot of great stuff out there now. The problem really is figuring out which of the many excellent boards you most desperately need right away.

you must be talking about the flat birch S9 pintails, The concaves are are considerably bigger at 9.75,Sector probabley measures around the bottom of the concave to call it a 10. I consider that ok, but all my current quiver is 46.5x 10.375 whomekuts.

i would have to agree with powder finger on this one. i have always found the s9 pintail to thin to feel completly comterble. i also have the van bommer with some r2s. this board is very stable with the r2s tighted up, i have done about 40. then just loosen the trucks up and carve it up. the randal comp 1s are good for some big power carves and are very, very stable. as to wheels, the softer the better, for carving, unless you want to slide

I have had a love-hate relationship /w my s9 48" pintail. I always liked the ride and sometimes you don't feel like dealing /w a 60" FD tanker. The s9 never worked good for cruising because it doesn't have enough meat on it. You have to stand in the middle unless you want to point your front foot forward. Then I got a Sherman's Van Bommer. It will do everything the s9 will do and more. It is wide enough for size 12 feet. With R2s you can go fast /w your foot right behind the front truck, and do it /w trucks loose enough for a Ti Chi standing 180 carve on a tight road.
The Van Bommer has the same wheelbase as the S9, plus it even has a little camber. The workmanship is better. Today it went as fast as the 60", and it went more places and turned tighter. Van Bommer is the perfect quick soulcarve deck.
R2s are a must.
