Will,
About the best trucks for the buck out there for all around riding is probably Randal ll 180's for stability at speed and carving. There are others out there that perform as well or even better but for non competive riding the Randals are great. I set my sons GOS up with them and the S9 GOS wheels, they work great together. You could check the posts on trucks and see what others think. Anyway enjoy whatever choice you make. John

Looking to buy another longboard and I'm looking for some feedback -- Jam Longboard VS Barefoot... any thoughts on these brands and products?? I currently have a Carve board (surf stick) and a Sector 9 pintail. The Carve board is good fun on smaller hills but super sketch on faster runs... way too loose. The Sector 9 is good for faster runs but not so fun on flat ground. I'm basically looking for something I can cross-step on but also take on a faster run without loosing stability. Mahalo!

I'm looking for a different set of trucks for my sector 9 supercruiser. I mainly use it bombing hills and such and the trucks that came with it (I bought it on ebay) don't turn very well. They are very stiff and don't loosen much at all before they become sketch while riding. Any suggestions on a good set of trucks?

Best wheel for MO speed ????

Need some opinions before I drop a lot of cash....
Just got back into downhill longboarding and after 3 weeks on 76mm/78A Krpytos I'm needing MO speed.I'm on a 44" PP ditchkiller w/randall 180's.
I was thinking of getting the abec 11 83/78a Fly wheels....around 65Bucks with shipping.I like the duro I'm at because there's a lot of rought terrain around here, but beautiful long straightaways that aren't scaring me anymore....I like to be right at that 'oh s#@!' speed, and I'm coming up short.
Is that the best option out there??
Love to get some input from veteran thrill seekers.

Starts right away with a 40" and more. A longboard is something bigger than 40" i think. Under this, its called a FAT POOL board.
Yeah.
BE40 from Gravity for an exemple, and so many other companys!! But 40 and +. Its the same thing but its wider slides at the end.
YEAH FOR THE BIG!
Be PROUD OF BEIN A FAT BOARD RIDER!

48" is pretty darn big if your just starting to slide. as you get a little more under your belt the longer is better cause you can go bigger easier. but for starters i'd say around 38". then again it depends on the rider and his/her comfort on the board. the wheels are more important though (in my opinion) get good wheels and you can slide anything.

A buddy of mine and I are planning a "Eurotrip" of sorts - two months to skateboard across northern Europe, probably starting in Helsinki, Fin, and ending in Madrid. I've read a lot of the skateboarding law posts and heard about speed limits and stuff, but my question is this. If YOU had to board across Europe with only what you could fit in your backpack and two boards, which boards would you take? I'm thinking a downhill/slider and a cruiser - like Motion's Speedboard, and Binus' King. Please repost or email me. Thanks

Me,
If you are looking for a board that has flex, kick tail, concave and acts like some of the old school boards, look into a Dreggs 44". I got one for my son and now we share it when we go sliding in the garages and he does alot of flat land tricks with it also.
Whatever your choice is, enjoy it.

Marion, back in September I asked you about equipment for myself, a 215 lb ex boarder from the 70's just now getting back into the scene through the longboarding approach. Well I made the purchase: Probably, because I'm a sucker for aesthetics, I went with a Barfoot "Yater". I also read up on the Abec wheels(softest durometer) and chose them because of the stoney roads of Ohio, and while I thought I'd get the new Revenge Trucks as advertised with the board by the company I chose (S____boardz.com)I got what have always been advertised with Barfoots- the BAKU trucks. The board(Barfoot) is certainly flexible with my weight (to the point that If I bounce on it, I can actually scrape the ground with the middle part (Is this super flex normal? And Can I use it to my advantage when carving?) The wheels, Abec Flashback 70's certainly are soft enough and feel great on the grainy asphalt. With the package deal I asked to upgrade from the Krypto 65's that were originally offered to an Abec wheel(they (the company I ordered from) gave me the flashbacks over the gumballs- was this a good choice?) The trucks seem stable enough. Am I missing something by not returning it for the Revenges? When the snow clears I'll be out more. I'll be back! S.A.W.

Walk it or ride it very slow the first time!!!! We had a new garage session last week and had a guy get "clothes lined" on a wire cable they did not see until it was too late. He is ok but it could have been really bad! And of course saftey gear

Wear a helmet to say the least, and slide gloves. Soft wheels around 70mm or larger work great. Don't stay too long until you get a feel for the place (nosey people, law enforcement) Have fun!

it's probably hard on bearings and maybe axles and kingpins as they will all rust. your board is probably fine. if it has cracks or the finish is fried, the water could hasten the end of life, but so what!
you should keep riding. your bud just wants excuses to not ride in the rain.
good to hear of people charging, even in the rain!
