On 6/7/2008 Paul Howard wrote in from United States  (65.122.nnn.nnn)

Hey, does anyone have a Gravity Brad Edwards model and how stiff is it? I want something for skatepark use that has some stiffness and does sag in the tail when doing kickturns/grinds/rock-n-rolls, etc.

Thanks - Paul

Ow, stop, it hurts.
On 5/30/2008 roller ghost wrote in from United States  (75.68.nnn.nnn)

Yes, and please, stop your three-ton motorized vehichle when a human body is underneath it!

Sis, your brother was RUN OVER by a non-observant driver, the kind we All Fear Most. Sorry he's hurt so bad, I'll definately add him to my prayer-list. But, one should also know when, or if, one's car or truck has impacted a 50+ kilo living body, and, furthermore, ought to Avoid Hitting LIVING BEINGS. I'd want that driver's license revoked!!!

PLEASE BE CAREFULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On 5/30/2008 Concerned sister wrote in from United States  (74.61.nnn.nnn)

My brother and his friends are all skateboarders out here in Hawaii, last night one of his friends was bombing down a hill and almost lost his life. An experienced rider, he was sliding to make a turn and trying to avoid hitting his friend, a car appeared and hit him. the driver of the truck didn't know he hit the kid until about 40 feet down the road when his car wouldn't move any more. when my brother and his friends arrived about a minute later they had to physically lift the truck and remove his friend. he's in the hospital now with a broken cheek bone two broken legs and a foot that's totally mangled. he has to have several surgeries to repair his foot because the road removed most of his skin and several tendons. please be very careful when attempting these acts of crazyness and don't do it at night.

Skate Softly and Carry a "Big Stick"
On 2/20/2008 Jack wrote in from United States  (63.201.nnn.nnn)

About six months ago, after seeing some stand-up paddle surfers here in Morro Bay, I thought about making myself a paddle for my longboard skateboard. Thinking about it was as far as I got .

A couple of weeks ago the crew at Kahuna Creations sent me one of their boards and a "Big Stick" to try out. As soon as I got it out of the box, I headed down to a sweet new bike path that runs along the harbor in Morro Bay, to give it a go.

I have to say I really enjoyed "paddling" along the bike path. The rubber tip on the business end of the paddle offers a nice grip/pushoff, it's also less jarring than I thought it would be. It was also a great upper body workout, especially on the slight uphill section.

Of course, I got a few weird looks from the surfers driving along the road next to the path, but hey after you've skateboarded across America three times, you get used to weird looks. While I was "paddling" on asphalt, a woman walking along the path pointed out a "stand-up paddle" surfer making his way through the bay.

The craftsmanship of the "Big Stick" is excellent, wood core/fiberglass wrap with a nice little handle at the top for added leverage.

If the weather is good this weekend I plan on skating/paddling from Cambria to Morro Bay, a twenty mile ride on Highway 1 with great views, and a couple of nice downhills.

More later.

Here's short clip of my first "paddle"...

head injury - coma
On 1/4/2008 Will wrote in from United States  (64.12.nnn.nnn)

I loved to longboard and was riding in 2004, when I hit a wet patch.
I wasn't wearing a helmet. I hit my head hard about and was instantly
knocked out. I only had a 1% chance of living that night. I went into
a coma for 32 days. My life has changed dramatically. I can't do any
of the thing I love to do because I don't have a balance anymore. I would
like to talk to anyone else who has had a head injury or anyone who wants to
talk more. Please wear a helmet, its not worth it!!!!

You should check out Gravity slide videos on you tube. Also, look at any videos of Cliff Coleman you can find. Where in ca. are you? If your close enough, I could show you in person.

To all you Longboarders- Skate more this year than last!! See you on the hills and in the parks!

Night Run
On 11/2/2007 Brett wrote in from United States  (68.123.nnn.nnn)

Yo Eddy, that is an awesome collection of boards! Your night skating session reminds me of when I lived in Florida and would sneak into a nearby landfill and skate the road they had coming down from the top. Very little light, fewer turns but if you hit something carving... you got tossed pretty good! Ahh, night skating. Not much compares to it!
