you were definately not speaking to yourself christopher, that was a really good review, and even though i am in the UK, it makes me want to go out there just to skate. It sounds like a longboarding nirvana, hopefully i might get to ride that place before i become old and boring (may it never happen). I think a google search of idaho scenery might be in order... :)

I may be speaking to nobody, since it is that none of you may care. However... I have skated four major sections of the U.S. and Canada (Mid-America, B.C., California, and The Inland Northwest), and I am by-far the most impressed and in love with the inland Northwest(i.e. Spokane, Wa.-Sandpoint, Id.). Like most regions that find people barreling down slopes at uncontrolable speeds, North Idaho presents a varying degree of challenges to the downhill community. Everything from the gentle slopes of bunny hills, to the treacherous runs of Triple-Blacks. In a state of only a million+ people, most of whom find themselves in the lower 1/3rd of the land, traffic is minimal. And the topography couldn't be any more heavenly. Natural rises jutting up from the lakes, 1,000-3,000 foot vertical climbs and miles of fresh-paved, lightly touristed, roads to fully sate the road-warriors appetite. If ever given the chance to ride in an ideal setting keep Idaho in mind. If you jones it enough, look up pictures of the terrain in the North, and realize/imagine that every single mountain that you see, has a road snaking its way down through the trees. You'll be riding some of the finest terrain in the U.S. And besides my guys and I, you'll be cutting through virgin asphalt. Ride swiftly, and do so in peace.

What Is Your Style?

Repost from "Michael Brooke-Publisher,Concrete Wave Magazine" Forum regarding a discussion of skate style: Last night was another regular Monday night skate session with the local longboard crew (which has now grown to 5 riders over the summer) in one of our downtown regular spots. The age of this group ranges from about 21 (the newbie) to 41 (that's me) with the average age being in the late 20's early 30's. The area up town we skate is adjacent to another area that is popular with the street skaters and most nights they are disinterested in what the "old guys" are doing bombing down Center Street lauching from the square timing the stop lights at the bottom of the hill. Every now and then as they pass through to go sit on their butts in front of the pool hall/game room up the street they will stop and watch or make smart ass comments. Last night a pair of teenagers walked by, no skateboards in hand and upon looking at my 58" Wicked Skateboard Winged Wonder one of them said "Hey, man, the beach is that way". The second one chimed in with "yeah, surf's up, dude". Leave it to a teenager to sum up my style in one phrase. I realize they were being sarcastic but basically I see it is a compliment. For me, surf style was always the coolest. Living 4 hours from the ocean, surf style for me was only possible on a skateboard the majority of the time except when we made our weekend trips down there. Surf Style...that is the way I hope I skate. Surf's Up Dudes and Dudettes! The pavement swells are badass today!

Lenny: Thanks for the word, dude, but I can't take all the credit on that phrase. Alice Cooper wrote it for us a long time ago. I got to put my new "Schools Out" philosophy in practice last night by inviting a younger rider to go with my group of longboarders to check out this new skate spot we discovered in a new housing development. The youngster (in his early 20's) was stoked by his first experience on a longboard. I even jumped on his street board and started doing 360's, walking the dog, and endovers.
Monson:Dude, that is great you have your wife tooling about on a board. What a great way to do family stuff and still skate! That's killer. My wife has gone with me on some of the long hill runs and driven the "shuttle car". That was cool.

hey skatecats...
i have been fortunate to share the vibe w/my wife on varying degrees she has her own deck ...which she picked out (important) i gave her advice but she shopped it out and got what she wanted. she is not as fanatical as i am ...but she will skate with me about 3 times a month. her interest has been recently fueled by the progress my 6 yr. old is making in our neighborhood parking garage. we have even gotten a sitter to watch our our 4 & 2 & 1 yr. old kids while the three of us go take an hour or so to skate together. i have also taken my board on many family walks and switched up taking the kids for rides on the front of my decks ~ teaching them balance and a feel for the flow! whatever you love ..share it w/those you love!
peace ...monson

NC Longboarder, I'm digging the phrase you coined on the CW forum!! I'm a teacher and in grad school, I have enough "school" without catagorizing my skating. LOL About the walking/skating thing, yeah it's a blast. Sometimes we go to the same park and I run cones while she times and/or check's out nature trails.
John D, you know you have my support, I'll fill out the survey now.

Dudes and Dudettes! It's official! SCHOOL'S OUT! Let's begin to spread the word that skating is skating no matter what the discipline. Let's as a group of longboarders reach out to the younger skaters and share our stuff with them. Check out the discussion about Old School vs. New School on the Concrete Wave Magazine forum recently. I think it is good reading and well worth your time. Check it out.

Stills, shoot me an email. I'm rolling out of southern Ohio and am always stoked to meet others who rock boards over the 32" mark.
Last night my wife and I went for a walk (I took my 46") and had a blast carving up my neighborhood. I did, however carve too hard, slid out and did what was, according to my wife, a VERY cool looking backflip to knee slide. Too bad I didn't have my kneepads on. LOL Only a scratch, though, and I carved hard the rest of the way!

Sorry for cross-post... Anyone hear anything from Bozi lately? 10 weeks now and still waiting for my MB2. Despite several attempts, I haven't heard from Jeff in the almost 7 weeks when he last said, "no worries it's coming." I would say this is getting silly. I don't want my money back, I want my board!

I was out the spot which me and my friends call the "hizzzy". Here there were so many sharp turns on a devils run that they ended up putting barricades up. Any ways the whole point is that my friends and i brought our sixshooter boards thinking that we would be able to slide around, big mistake. We ended up switching out for the sixshooters newest board the Magnum Slice and got ticketed for exceeding the speed limit and indangering conduct. NO JOKE! Those babys ran so smooth that we were illegal!!! hhahah anyways Happy birhtday Jordan!!!! hope this post lightens your day
