Does anyone have any contact info or a website for Skate Designs? The Hawaiian Sidewalk Surfer featured in the Concrete Wave Buyer's Guide looks pretty nice but I can't find any info on it anywhere.
Thanks.

Man, those spots sound sick! Hopefuly we can hit a couple of them when I'm in town!
What part of Ohio is Justin in? If it's anywhere in SE OH, give him my # if you talk to him! I try to keep an open door policy for bros who pop in for a visit as long as they don't mind the zoo (two cats, one pet mouse- one died this week- one mouse on death row and Betty- the python).

G-Flash: Great to hear from you. Sorry you can't make the jam but we will have more. The hope is that we can take one of our jams and morph it into more of an event/race/or something...The whole crew have lots of great ideas.
TomMeakin: Dude, that would be great. Again, the offer goes out that you can stay here while your here. Bring your board and your pads. We probably can round up a helmet here I can make you some slide gloves if you don't have any. Just let me know what you are thinking regarding dates. As far as the Great Statesville Pumkin Fest....Dude, it is hilarious. Basically, it is an event the first Saturday in November (right after Halloween) to promote Historic Downtown Statesville. The coolest thing they have is the "Smash the Pumkin" (not to be confused with the band of a similar name) where for about $1 you get to smash a pumpkin to smitherines ala Gallagher (a big wooden sledgehammer). It is a big hit. There is also lots of good food and vendors selling all kinds of artsy farty crafty crap. My office is downtown on the street that they hold the festival and my house is only 4 blocks away.
Local Statesvillian DHB's, With Justin in Ohio, Jaybird at the house with the girls, Darren still injured, and me not having Bandy or Rookie's number I scouted spots today and road alone. I went and road one spot Justin told me about which after a I talked with Jay found out that that part of the crew already knew about. The development is called Ridgewood and it is off of Buffalo Shoals Road right before you get to the Catawba River Bridge and Catawba County. It is brand new with only one house being built at the top of the hill near the entrance. The pavement is new and very good...they didn't smooth it a great deal. I was riding the Bozi Mad Bomber 2 with Seismic 180's and the Avila's 81 front 78 rear. After you crest that first hill the backside is extremely fast. I bombed it first time and that was STUPID! I ran it several times and I think this hill is much faster than Top Gun at the Spot. The other side of the hill is a long carver's dream and on the back side of that hill is a great less steep section that ends in a cul de sac. Attention WESLEY TUCKER-Dude, this location would be incredible for slalom, giant slalom, and almost Super G. I talked to one of the contractors and he said that he thought it would be cool if we road out there on the weekends but that the developer was an uptight son-of-a- developoer so we should avoid Ridgewood, or in my mind, Rockin Ridge. This development is only about 10 minutes max from The Spot. The second location I scouted and skated was on Jaybird's recommendation. It is only about a mile from Rockin Ridge, over the Catawba River in Catawa County. The name of the development slips my mind right now (its' 11:30 pm and I was on a soccer field at 8:15 this morning. If you cross the bridge and go over the river turn left and the development is about a mile on the right. Dude the main hill is steep...real steep, but after a couple of runs I bombed it from the entrance to the development. It is a a down and up hill with the facing side not as steep or long....just a good role back to assist in the walk back to the top. This hill I think is faster than The Spot's Tom Gun. There is only a small handful of houses already built and occupied and they are all past the top of the runout hill. The only problem I had was dealing with 3 dogs who really wanted to be my friend...literally...one of the little bastards try to run off with my slide glove while I was petting the big lab. The black lab also kept following me up the entrance and I was worried he was going to get out on the busy main road, but he would lumber down the hill and finally I got all three dogs back up to their house. Can you imagine seing this dude walking up your street, knee and elbow pads, full face helmet, black Linkin Park t-shirt, black cargo pants, sunglasses, carrying a Bozi Mad Bomber II leading your dogs home? I am suprised they didn't call the sherriff's office. Dudes, this hill is sick fast. I liked it a lot. Still working on first website but sould have the first ouline up soon.
Talk to you later crew, Marion Karr North CArolina Longboarder Proud Member of the DownHill Billies

Hi guys, i might be getting over to the US of A in the summer, i was talking to my mom and she thinks a fly-drive would be really cool, or a two centre break or something. Oh, and we checked out Statesville's tourism sites: you have a PUMPKIN FEST?!?!?!?!?!?!? LMAO!!! How cool! I hope you are having better weather than here, it has been too nasty to skate for ages :( And i was on my driving lesson when i realised that at 35mph i was going the same speed as i did on my slalom board once hehehehehe..."nice" lol
Have any of you got a paypal account? If so i could send some money to cover tshirt costs and that. Hit me back, Tom.

Well, I checked out the stadium area and it looks like it's only ideal for street skating. There are some downhill grades near it but most of them empty onto busy streets.

JD: That is a great idea..and that dude, comes into the not-so-official bar of the DownHill Billies, Delany's in Downtown Historic Statesville. The owner of the bar is bringing his kid to the next jam to show him all the other aspects of skating are about. I will touch base with him today.
Dude, I am also going to scout the Charlotte situation for Wesley T. If we can't go to the BofA Stadium there are going to be some other options. It has been a while since I was out at the coliseum but I think there is a hilly parking lot there. Hey Jer, if you are out Billy Graham can you check that out as well?
Jer, I will email you my mobile number.

Wesley,
I'm not too familiar with the stadium parking lot but I'll see what's there. There's a lot of hilly areas in Charlotte, I'll look for one that matches your specifics.
I'll let the Charlotte Longboarders know about the jam on the 26th!

Bros and Sistas....things have been crazy this last two weeks but I have worked on the site a bit and should put up an abbreviated version by this weekend. At first it is going to be simple but will develop as we move forward. I have talked with Darren and he thinks he should be able to start working on the shirts soon...(Local DHB'ers, we are going to need to get together and go help with the shirt production...Check in with Darren later in the week about a good night. I am taking the artwork over to him tomorrow.
Also, Local Crew....lets have a meeting of sorts this weekend and skate together....see if Sunday afternoon works for you guys. Call me and let me know. We can skate and plan the jam. I will be available after church and lunch. Check in with me via the mobile later in the week....email me if you don't have the number!
Lenny, dude I am stoked you are coming down. We are going to have a great time. Looking forward to it.

I'm not a big fan of winter mainly due to the cold and dark days which cut big time into my skateboard-filled obsession. I'm always of the frame of mind that if I can make to March, when things START coming back to life, I'm stoked. That said, now that it's March 1st, I'm stoked all around!
Dank, bro I'll be more than happy to give any pointers I can about cone-running. Remember, like Dave G told me the first time I ran cones, don't be afraid to put your rear end into it!
I'd defintely be stoked on a DHB party after the session(s). I'm down!
See you in 3 1/2 weeks, Lenny- DHB!

Hey, Jer,
I got a question for you. I live down in Summerville just outside of Charleston. I've been meaning to do something now for a while but just haven't got around to it. You got any idea about the parking lot around Bank Of America Stadium? When I'm driving through on 77, I always intend to get off and go over and check it out, but usually for one reason or another I never get it done.
I'm not a longboarder, but a slalom skater. What we look for are long stretches with a good grade and no traffic where we can set up cones and courses and race. With the way the stadium sits up on that hill, I've always imagined the parking lot kind of slopes down around it. And in the off season I know it's probably empty on the weekends.
The management might be a pain with liability and all, but that's another bridge to cross. First I'd like to find out if there's a spot somewhere that's 5-600 feet long heading downhill where we could set a good dual course? I'll be coming up to the Jam at the end of March, but if you have any clue before then, I'd really like to know.

Tom, The offer is a standing one so no problema on the time. Just keep watching the flights and if you see a bargain. You will need cash when you get here to shop at Walmart but we will feed you a bunch. (Before all of you anti-WalMart nazis out there get all jacked up about that last comment I just want to say- IT WAS A JOKE!) Tom, you and your boards are welcomed at our house. Good luck at Uni...Lenny, it sounds like we are just going to have to skate a bunch this summer huh?

Defintely wait until you're at Uni. I don't know about everywhere, but when I was in school there was ALWAYS some deal going on for students to go abroad to study and grants to foot most of the bill. There's a travel component required for my masters. I'm thinking of doing it summer after next. This summer, I've arranged to do NOTHING my first summer completely off since I was in 8th grade!!

i was looking for flights and the cheapest i found was £294 return tickets, which might be possibe in the fututre, but the flight was special offer and the next normal price was £350 ($700). I could save for these sometime(but need money for other things and i am going to uni in autumn) so here's to hoping that i win some money on the lottery LOL :)

Jer: I have you on the email list for the DHB's and will let the crew know what you guys have going on. I know one of our crew has been longboarding with some guys in a parking deck in Downtown Charlotte but I am not sure where and when...Try to get some of your bro's to come up to Troutman for the jam in March. When it gets closer I will email you directions.
Lenny: Dude, we are DEFINITELY going to do the Downtown Night Riding in Statesville when you are here...we will just eat better and drink more Red Bulls...the official energy drink of the DownHill Billies....until someone gives us some sponsorship.
This weekend I am going to be working on the website. I will let you know how it progresses.
Later Dudes and Dudettes! Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 26th, for the DownHill Billies Skate Jam II.

Hey Jer, I think I speak for the rest of the Downhill Billies when I say "the more the merrier." I think Marion's right in that neighborhood too!
Being a good 4.5 or so hours away, I can't make that many "meetings," but I'm about always stoked for a jam session with some carving and cones and maybe a park. LOL
By the way, Marion, I'm hoping to carve up Statesville at night on the 26th. I was dtoked on it last time, but spent all my energy on the cones (and being full o' wings at night didn't help. LOL).

Hello, all! I'm Jerry and I skate with a 43" Surf-One longboard. I also have a shortboard that I skate parks with. Anyway, I've started a club in Charlotte, NC called The Charlotte Longboarders. We only have a handful of members right now so you're welcome to join forces with us and hopefully vice versa. This club has just been started so we haven't had any meetings yet. I will be glad to keep you posted. You may also want to visit the Charlotte Locals & Longboards sections of www.skaterscafe.com.

The best time to visit here is in the Spring or the Fall. Summer tends to cook the English like a deep fryer does fish and chips.
