LISA great words of support and i must say that i still bust my ass.......and hips and shoulders etc...........
i'm glad you all had such a smooth path of support in skating...most of us aren't so fortunate to have found it without some hard searching, but you're sooooo right; BE BOARD FOR THE LOVE OF IT....that's what matters most.
hope you and the girls are still ripping like you always do!

It's all out there. Especially in the skate world. When my daughters and I started skating, we were literally overwhelmed by the support, not only in free gear, but in every other way that is so much more important. It's not about busting your ass; it's about loving what you do and enjoying the people that do it with you.

Equality in a man's world

Good luck finding it, equality is grande a myth which fuels my flame to better myself, motivate others to be healthy, love myself, family, friends, other chickas, even if the knowns just propose equality to get what they are often to fearful to ask for..........your sex or your cash.
I did bust ass getting "known", literally....no help 'cept for my son Russell(aged 9 at the time, then my beloved Gravityboard crew and some amazing Frenchmen of the Supaflex team.....
Then came the miracle called CONCRETE WAVE, where equality is finding itself....May the Transworld, Skateboard mags and the like burn in hell for their oppresive moves.....and may we see more thoughtful posts.......
THINKING IS THE ONLY MOTIVATOR OF CHANGE......NOTHING IN LIFE'S FREE....that's just another myth.

"All I have to say is how the F*ck are you supose to get know(n) in the skate world when you have to bust your ass off just to get know(n), where are the people who are supose to support and help you(?)"
Why aren't THEY spending their time to search me out, find me and give me free money? THEY are such slackers, and it must be a plot to oppress me!
Who exactly is "they" that are "supposed" to be boosting women's skating? Why are they "supposed" to? What the F are YOU doing to make it worth "Their" while? Are you a great skater? Wahoo.....tons of those around, and guess what?--they all want free stuff and coverage and sponsorship and etc, just like we do.
So, how to the Isabelle Caudles, the April Woodcocks, the Ellen O'Neill's of the world get that leg up and become "known"? I bet it wasn't by whining about how oppressed they are and that THEY never came knocking on our door to ask us to please skate for them and accept free money. What do you think?
Do you want to get "known"? Then wash your hair, brush your F'ing teeth, pick up your skateboard and go meet other skaters. Skate with them, talk with them, socialize with them, and then go do it again, at somewhere bigger. Get off your own fat butt and shoot some video of yourself and post it on the internet so others can see. Maybe you SUCK, maybe you don't, but if you slink around in tiny groups of dispirited, griping bitches, then why in the world would THEY ever want to support that? Whoever THEY is, anyway.
THEY are all over, though. THEY support the All Girls Skate Jam, the Hello Kitty monster event in HB, the Downhill Divas and on it goes. THEY publish photos of us in Concrete Wave, every single issue! THEY also run like hell from anyone that demands "what's due" instead of grinning, stoking and riding. It doesn't matter whether we're a chick or a dick. NOBODY owes us anything even if THEY happen to be out there, just waiting for someone smart enough to come calling with a smile and some stoke.

anna, i didn't quite understand your message, but FULLY AGREE with EMG. skater chickas rule and finding those who "know"...... get to local skate shops, parks or streets; that's where the skaters at, ask questions after introducing yourself...kindness helps the hunted and hunters

laura, a huge part of why i stated the downhill clinics was to motivate girls to learn to skate safely... so CONVINCE them you'll treat then kindly and get them started on EASY, confidence building roads.......they will step up and don't necessarily have to get injured to learn. i did 'cuz i'm kinda wild like that, but i don't expect others to be like me, just play with me. keep on urging, supporting....maybe you'll be their leader.

I got plenty of them to skate with- Road Kill Racing + my black socked bros; skating with chicks is different. None of my girl friends are willing to look like me after some of my gnarlier spills. Oh, well.

stoked that you're stoked and the WickedWahine's are truely that, WICKED fun and the clinic#2 on Sat. was THE BOMB...SO MUCH FUN, all ripping slides/carves by the end. Even the 2 LandYat girls from B.C. RIPPED the slalom and downhill courses. GIRLZ RULE..boys, oh yeah, they surely do DROOL!
Find local guys to hang with, motivate your girls to hang with you.
I started surfing SOLEY to hang with those cute guys in the water, my passion for waves came much after my passion for the opposite sex.
PEACE and charge, laura.

I read this all the time but don't post up. The downhill diva clinics and the wicked wahine contest... I want to go so badly, I wish I were on the west coast. It's just too bad, so sad... but I do, very much so, think it's awesome what you ladies are doing. Keep up the good works!

I recently picked up longboarding and would like to ride with some chics from the san diego area. If you're interested and do't mind dealing with a newbie let me know. Oh and to quell your fears... I can hold my own, but I'd like to improve. I used to snowboard and race slalom and GS and I was thinking maybe I'd like to try it on a skateboard.
