I only got to see her in-person, riding, once, at a Freestyle Contest (I 'think' it was '77?). But I recall her grace, and gymnastic ability was very evident. Her Poise was amazing, even when riding two boards-at-once, or impossibly spinning on only one foot. Her Smile, even as she Rode in a Competition, was genuine and infectious. She had a Style that was composed, yet fluid, and quite competent as well.
I do not how, or even exactly when Ellen passed on (only saw this on FB a little while ago), but it should be noted that she was inducted into the Skateboarders Hall-of-Fame, um, 6 Years ago [?]. She was an Icon among the Ladies that took up skateboarding in the 1970's.
2020, hasn't been a good year...

Next Saturday as part of the Toyland Halloween skate jam, we're having a girls and womens skate clinic on Saturday Morning. There is some nominal fee to help pay for travel expenses for Lynn Kramer (me) to come up and play on an easy hill. Gain confidence with turning, sliding, and and stopping on a hill. Contact Jonny Miller at ou tlawranchproductions@yahoo.com or lynnibob@sbc global.net.Saturday night there is a party at the ranch with live bands and plenty of camping space.

Downhill Divas clinic will be on October 23 from 9am to noon. The clinic is open to any women who want to work on GS. All levels. We will have some guest instructors like Richy Carrasco and other SoCal GS leaders. After the clinic, stay to watch the pros go at it on a legendary super-fast GS course. Location: Pumpstation Penasquitos, San Diego, CA. Look it up or email us for more info. Skaters under 18 are welcome, but we require a parent to stay the whole time, so bring two sets of pads. We have some boards and helmets to loan out if you don't have a downhill or slalom setup or just want to try something new.

More typically geared towards street skating, I have forwarded the World's Slalom results to Skatergirl.co.uk
so that the Ladies get more widely represented in their achievements. I'm sure that with a news-based front page, slalom results might become a standard feature on this site and might even encourage new competitors.
Check it out!

So glad I am not attending the worlds this year. My stomach in a knot just thinking about the Skate Femme Pro Division. I would barf everyday in stress before that big contest. All the skaters are so good, fast and fearless... I hope there is some footage of all the contest. If they upped the prizes $$, because of the stiff competition, that would be great. Its not like i am being critical of the organizers, just the peanut gallery here would hope they would offer 75% of registration for cashola pot. You know where this is heading. Go Train Now.

I posted a note on slalomskateboarder.com why dont they have cash for women who compete at the Worlds. It was on there for one day before killed. What is the rule for women, are they ams or pros. In Paris every W is a Femme Skate Pro. We all need to turn pro then they will have a division for us with cash. In my dreams, that I would be pro. Well there are Pros and there are professionals and then there are PROS. One thing I never wanted to be was a Pro Ho. I guess its working, ha ha. Going to reread the definitions. Love to you all. j
