Not to make it too complicated but I think that there should probably be a couple of levels within the group. Here is how I think it should be broken down: Skate Gods: All of those skaters on the list below that are famous/infamous and are pro/semi pro/formerly pro or damn close to it. (Examples: see the list below...Coleman and Hester stand out to me on that list.) (I still have a set of Henry Hester Road Rider wheels from back in the day!) MASTERS PRO DIVISION Skate Demi-Gods: All of those skaters who have been at it a long time, show up for all/majority of the races/events, are still ripping it, and are big part of the heart of the sport. (Example: Feel in the blank with anyone you think is a fit) MASTERS ELITE DIVISION Skate Heros: All of those skaters who are ripping it locally, skating local/regional events, are influences to the younger skaters in their area, and have damn good skater skills. (Examples: We all know skaters like these). MASTERS INTERMEDIATE DIVISION or MASTERS SPORT DIVISION Skate Refugees: All of those skaters who have come back to the sport after a long break from it during the mid 80's through the 90's and are now riding locally and are totally reborn into the sport. These skaters are still sorting out their skill levels but are riding a bunch, are stoked about being a skateboarder again, are embracing the traditions of the past, and are catching up to today. (Example: Me! I will be 42 in December) MASTERS BEGINNER DIVISION Having this number of divisions would be difficult at smaller regional events where the field of skaters 45 years of age or more was smaller but what the organizers could do is still have everyone in the Masters age group compete together but have seperate awards for the different levels of skill. By competing head to head against the Pro and Elite level riders the Beginners (not a good word for someone who skates for almost 14 years before taking a break but...) would have a great experience and learn a great deal, yet, we would still be recognized for our achievement within our own level of ability. I raced mountain bicycles for several years during the 90's until I had a major crash in 1999. Many of the events I competed in were structured this way. In mountain biking they even have a division for guys over 200 lbs. called Clydesdales. Depending on the size of the field it would be broken down in various levels of skills. It's always great to see you (and others) out there getting it on and working the hill. Stoke is non-partisan, and it's the coolest thing to see people who have it. You're a major practitioner of the stoke my friend! If the age for Masters was 45, we'd see people like Steve Evans, and in a year, Olson. Ransom, Gilmour and many others are probably getting close as well, so it could be a very competitive bracket. Maybe we should start a poll of riders nearing or above 45 to see just how the group would look? I'll start the list now. I've added people who may be somewhere near the line as well. Let's see just how infirm and aged we really are!
