Anybody do some nice mellow soulcarving in the San Luis Obispo area? I'm down with just cruisin' but not psychotic hill bombing. Let me know.

The other day by full moon we dropped the entire NCAR road located in south boulder. Basically you just go all the way up west Table Mesa Drive and you eventually leave the housing and get into government maintained road. It's almost 2 miles long excluding table mesa. We tried it during the day and security stopped us before we got even half way down. However during the moon light there was no problem.
Enjoy the carves but you will want to be able to powerslide just in case. It is fairly steep and you can really build up speed without realizing it. If you can do something like Julliard this will be a cake walk. Besides that rip it up.

Loop Road - Red Rocks Nevada

Well, I finally got back with my board. If you are from California, it's not worth the trip, but to people who don't have hills longer than a half mile, it was pretty good. Definitely the best video background I've ever seen.

The pavement is typical desert asphalt. A little rough, but not so bad in the middle. There were long sections with great sweeping curves. Worth about 50mph on your back, and a little slower standing. That was plenty fast in shorts and a pair of mason gloves we got a 7-11 on the way out.

The cool thing is that most people cruising the park would pull over in front of us as soon as they saw the board coming out of the car. Most of them also cheered vigorously as they passed at the bottom of the run.

Mitch,
Are you talking about the Rockville _Maryland_ Civic Center? I live in Northern VA and would be glad to check it out, if it is. I've been looking for rides just like that.

Rockville Civic Center-There's a Mansion on a Hill
On 4/23/2001 Mitch T wrote in from (198.80.nnn.nnn)

Last night while chillin' watching the Bruce Springteen, HBO concert, I was inspired by the "Mansion on a Hill" song. I remembered an excellent skating spot, it's my toy snowboarding spot, when it snows here. Rockville Mansion AKA Rockville Civic Center. The cool part is the hill winds around to steps on the bottom that you can climb up and run the hill again.

anybody know of any good routes up here in the city? i have found a few, but am yet to find a long ride. coming down the hill, turning the corner, and down past hogle zoo is a good ride, as well as up emigration there is a good side canyon. the best place i have found yet is all the hills behid the mission training place in provo. nothing is better than sinking into a deep carve with all those dudes watching you and realizing they won't get to do that for a couple of years. so yea, looking for good routes close to home. if anybody wants to ride this summer, give me an email. malhalo!

word. i hear you Chris, i'm in the same bloody boat. appreciate all the time you skate cause injuries can really bite into your time. i recently popped my shoulder out again and missed a lot of riding, i came back early and then severly rolled my ankle, but i got ice on it(thanks Josh) right away and worked the aleeve treatment all week and was skating again several days later. the best session was today at Revere. this is the place that took skating to the next level and the best skaters in the world grew up skating here! It's so much fun, there are so many fun banks with the sweetest pockets that you can just boost out of. The school was built on a hill and you can take off and skate from the main banks and go down to a smaller wrapping bank that exits right into the winding hill then you cut across into the hallways and dart around a lot of corners and classrooms. I just wish they had fully enclosed banks so you would never have to stop. Revere is siickkk! so keep the faith and go big! I'm thinking about heading up to the Glory Hole later this year, its kinda up near you - so plan on going!

Any other southwest VA longboarders out there?
