Mount Tabor! No motorized vehicles on half the roads, and on Wednesdays no motor vehicles on all the roads. Sweet hills, beautiful park surroundings. Watch for the mossy section up top.

Salt Lake is full of kick ass hills-some steep, some not so steep. The street luge record was just set in the south end of the valley on a 12% grade-ok so the luge was rocket powered but the guy got up to like 98 mph. Anyway SWEET hills abound throughout the Beehive state.

Ho-ho-kus/ridgewood
On 6/6/2001 DanG wrote in from (141.150.nnn.nnn)

Pretty much every road in Ho-ho-kus is being repaved. I just spent an hour going down a very short, fast run. WOW there is nothing like fresh pavement on a steep hill. Most of the other good streets in the area are also pretty short (.2-.4 miles). There is one good run in ridgewood however, it's bout 1-1.5 miles. It starts on the top of glen road and then you make a right a traffic light onto monroe, the pavement is pretty good and the speeds are right around 20-25.

Well I found this crazy little run that rips (not very long ride) but it's a fast ride down, so I guess thats why it's not that long. I named this location 'cheaky boy lane', because on the way back up the hill this little kid came runing out shouting at us, it was funny. Theres a couple of drains on the way you can carve around to make it more fun....

Short and intense ride, about 400m long. Top speed reached is about 55 - 60km (sorry, don't know the conversion rate since we use metric measurements.) 2 chicanes made from bricks this location interesting. Pretty straight ride with a huge dip at the very end. The secret to this loaction is to hold on tight and ride out of the "death" wobbles.

the road from the ski/golf area down to 441 is wide, long and pretty fast, with enough area to carve it out a little. steep enough so there's passing lanes...just don't go on a weekend afternoon, as there is often tourist traffic.

Just had some fun in Parking Structure 3 at UCLA yesterday... a 5-story structure that connects to a 7 story structure every floor, elevator to the top, not a single car above 2nd floor. Mellow.

Hidden Access Road - Salt Lake City
On 5/25/2001 Ray Clearwater wrote in from (63.196.nnn.nnn)

There is an excellent 6 mile downhill just north of the city. It is subject only to foot traffic and bikes. The road is paved asphalt, and runs next to a mountain snow-runoff stream/river. It is only 12-15 feet in width, and will provide prolonged speeds in the range of 45-55 mph (10-15 minutes). This is not for sleds, but for stand-up speed freaks that can handle high speed drifts with the risk of fatal wounds from tree/boulder impact - they line the edge of the road.
I may possibly be able to have an innaugral event there someday in the next few years, but there will be certain political hurdles to overcome. If anyone is interested in more exact details, and are seriously commited, contact me.
Ray

I'm moving to Cincinatti (West Chester) in mid June from Chi-town. I was just there to finalize job & housing. The hills there are mellow to INSANE, I'm willing. I've been skating since "77" and soulcarving for 3 yrs. after a 10yr break. If you need a bud to carve with e-mail me.

On 5/22/2001 DT wrote in from (24.4.nnn.nnn)

I use to live in Sunset and there is a whole crew of riders there.

Keep in mind the weather changes alot it may be wet on different sides of the island and dry where you are and vice versa. Always show respect. The cops are usually cool with it - if they ask you to leave do it with a smile. We never recieved a ticket because we were cool back to the cops.

You can ride Pupukea Rd next to Foodland in front of Rubberduckies. It is long and has many other hills that branch off of it. Many of these are mellower than the main road itself. The top half is mostly straight but ends with a VERY Technical section that IS dangerous if you are not an EXPERIENCED SLIDER!

The 803 highway (not Kam) that goes from Scofield Barracks/Wahiawa(south of haleiwa) to Waialua (east of Haleiwa/Sunset) is a fun curvy run that is good for Intermediate riders and up! Make sure you have a chase car and respect the locals! Go at night when its dry(good luck) and make sure not to hold up traffic! Its real long, dark, and smooth!!

Mililani is the next town south of Wahiawa and is where the north end of H2 ends/begins.
Mililani has some great runs.

If you are coming from the country exit Mehelua Pkway and turn Left (EAST) follow road till ends. This is a good carving run for late nights. Sometimes there is security and they will shut you down, other times you never see them or you can bribe them with fast food.

Mililani Tech Park. (near golf course off i think its Kahelu) if you go explore that area you'll find that this hill i speak of drops from the normal elevation into a little valley, in fact you can see the hill when you are driving North on H2 its on the right before the golf course. This hill is SICK!!! its fast maybe high 50s low 60s with aero gear. It has several sweeping turns and its a lot steeper than Tantalus. It ends going back up hill just watch out for the side street at the bottom coming out of the last left. You'll be at top speed and the cars will be blind to you.

The West Side.
Makakilo has some fun hills and will be one of the last exits before H1 turns from a freeway to a highway (near Ewa Beach) it has some sick hills just watch for traffic.

a west side warning: Haole GO HOME! if you dont know people that live here, dont bother going. once H1 ends and you get around the bend there are a few more decent spots(not as good as Mililani) but your on your own.

of course town has sick hills (Tantalus,Hawaii Kai,etc) shoots i cant tell you all da spots cuz , just go look
*~Aloha~*
