It's about a two Mile ride that has different levels of riding form beginer to advanced. Nice and smooth. There is traffic at about 11:00 p.m. but that's about it. I ususally hit it up at night.

Hey friends- I'm looking for some locations for a student short film, and I need to find some sweet aggro-looking dirt roads in the Los Angeles area... wondering if anyone has any favorite spots for downhill dirt riding. Maybe this should be in All-Terrain...
Thanks for any suggestions! Andy

snake road is a trip. but a little to wicked for my tatstes. anyone know of some pretty long rides around the eastbay that aren't so gnarley, but still give a good speed? maybe something like old tunnel road, but a little less windy. or is snake more manageable than it looks?
thanks

what up lb-ers. I just found and rode a ridiculously sick around gettysburg if anyone is in the area. it's on 233 going through pine grove state park. smooth ass pavement, tight sharp turns, ridiculous fall out at the end. Give it a go, but watch out for cars. I nearly killed myself.

Greg,
Snake is especially good below Magellan. One switchback after another till the bottom. This section is pretty steep and fast. The upper part is not so steep but is fun as a cruise.
Greg, try the Buena Vista run and Centennial Rd., in Berkeley. Claremont Canyon is also a good fast run in Oakland. South Park Rd. in Tilden Park is very fast from the Little Train to the Brazilian Room also.
There are so many great roads in the East Bay Area it would take a long, long, long time to ride them all.

Holy shit, i it the sickest hill in teh East Bay. Problably even the entire Bay area. Carving down non stop windy roads that over look the entire bay areaa. Tight corners that are filled with overhung trees. It is about 2 miles long of nicey paved road. It is better than having sex while ripping tubes. I basically shit my pants when i skate this hill or bust a nut at least. Wear a helmut and take a beep breath before skating and have fun use the bathroom before you skate. SKATEBOARDING IS THE GREATEST THING IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in Maine. I found that a little town outside Bangor caled Orrington is the best for longboarding. It is a little hick town with lots of hills flowing right down to the Penobscot River. unfortunately there are no skateparks in Maine, just attemps.

I saw someone talking about this earlier. There is no way it can be done. There is a T intersection at the bottom which is a main road. I skated from about a third of the way up and it was insane. It is called the steepest st. for a reason. A girl i knew died on it last year by trying to ride a wheelie bin down it. A longboarder wouldn't make it a quarter of the way.

Sha Wan Drive, Blacks Link and Cape D'Aguilar... Hong Kong

Hong Kong, wether you believe it or not... in my opinion is the greatest city on earth for longboarding. My favorite is a long 1.5km stretch of road called Sha Wan drive which is nice, butt smooth tarmac and some nice turns and a long stretch at the bottom to finish off. Also, Victoria Road offers some damn good skating althougth there are alot of junctions and T-Sections which u have to negociate... if you want speed Sha Wan and Victoria are great. Victoria road is a 3 km stretch with about 3 turns in total... bloodddyyyy great. Blacks Link and Cape D'Aguilar are great for crusing, especially Cape D'Aguilar... long probably 6km stretch with long, smooth, flowing tarmac... what makes it even better is that it is a private road and very few cars go down it... If your really looking for a rush and the best ride in ur life i recommend ALL the public roads in hong kong pretty much... that's about all... if any of u are interested just send me an e-mail at djpinkassassin@hotmail.com.... or if u live around in hk and longboard or wanna start to longboard e-mail me

Old Santa Cruz Hwy.

Old S.C. Hwy runs from Summit Road in the SC Mountains and drops from there to above Los Gatos, arriving just above the Lexington Reservoir. It's been NEWLY PAVED and they did a very good job. Not your usual S.C. crappy resurfacing job. This is butter grade!
It's about 5 miles long, and there's a short stretch of construction about 3 miles from the bottom. The top stretch is very mild and a good cruising run.
The second stretch begins shortly after the construction and continues for over a mile down to Idyllwild Road. This might contain the steepest pitches, but not the tightest turns. The grade might fall somewhere between Tunnel Road and Claremont (Berkeley Hills runs).
The third stretch runs from just below Idyllwild Road and runs out nicely on the frontage road along Lexington Reservoir and Hwy 17. This has a similar pitch to the middle run, but has a couple fairly tight turns to keep the adrenaline maxed. My plan is to place some orange cones above the tight turns as 'early warning' to scrub speed.
I've only taken a run on the middle stretch, but am looking forward to many longer sessions there in the near future. Traffic seems light off the commute hour. It's pretty busy in the am and after work. Weekend and sunday seem especially quiet with mostly bicyclists ascending, smiling as you fly past. Assuming you all don't go there and get it shut down, this might become a real classic if the pavement holds up. When they finish the small area left to be repaved, it will become a nearly 5 mile long twisty redwood ride. BTW... it's shady for the most part, on a hot day...

Oh man, this 6 mile, 1300 vertical foot run just got freshly asphalted and is perfect. It goes from a tiny town to a ski area, there's nothing else on the road but National Forest. Of course, without snow there's nothing going on at the ski area, just barely enough traffic to get a ride up now and then. With an average gradient of 4 percent, it's mostly relaxing cruising. There are a couple of steeper spots to carve some hard turns, and several areas where you can let 'em run! It's not posted and there is no police presence. Today I went 36 miles in the sun, the cool air, and taking in super views of eastern Idaho and the Teton Mountains. The down side? We're going to get snowed in any day and that'll be it until mid-May. The up side? Then we'll get out the snowboards and hit the chairlifts!!

Hey Dan, did you get my email? I live down the road from you in Arlington. When the weather isn't so crappy, I'd live to do some road cruising. If anybody has a luge they are willing to let me try, that would be a big bonus!! I'll even buy the beer afterwards!

You will go down a little bit, then start climbing, that is our hill, so when you get to the top, you are there!! If you get lost, my cell is 847 903 3452

Ryan T, Mandalay bay events center (3950 LV Blvd) is connected to a fenced off, future use strip of tar and sidewalk. Nice downhill grade. Good curbs. Almost no security folks. Nice, short but intense hill down to the loading dock area.

Hehe I'm just kidding of course. But I did summit Mt Washington for the first time a few weeks ago and the first thing I thought when I saw how well the auto road was paved (at least at the top) was "Damn, wish I brought my longboard.".
hope i'm not putting any foolish ideas in someone's head :P

YMCA park rocks! you gotta pay or belong to the Y, i was visiting and they gave me a day pass. what a park. pads/helmet required, no bikes, mellow vibe, longboard friendly (i think up til about 44" then the transitions will get you). what a bowl, left and right, mint concrete, ride til 9 pm under the lights. go for a swim after you skate. i will definately visit again. good carving runs, small bowl too, rail and steps for the kick flippers.
