Landsdowne Skate Park
On 12/20/2001 R. wrote in from (156.40.nnn.nnn)

Hey all... went for a sesh up at Landsdowne for the first time with my surfer friend on blustery Tuesday after the rains around 10:00 AM. What a frickin great place! 99% dry, sunny, had the place all to ourselves for 3 or 4 hours-- nobody to laugh at our groovy efforts, no hassles, --and the fence was even eminently climbable. Not much more to add than has already been said: beautiful lines, beautiful skate park, with different velocity paths. If any DC skaters get a day off in the next couple of weeks and the weather is as sunny as it has been, I highly recommend taking a morning run up to visit. Why can't they make more like this one?

D.C. Ditches/Banks (?)
On 12/15/2001 R. wrote in from (156.40.nnn.nnn)

Hey all, a pal of mine is in town, avid surfer and new to longboarding. Thought I'd take the opportunity to explore the town and have ourselves a little surf-style bowl sesh this week, but I think Vans might be a little too intense and he probably needs some time to get the hang of dropping in and all that... any good banks/ditches or other suitable places in the D.C. for some cutbacks and soulboarding action (I'm new here from San Diego myself)? He's up in Tacoma Park. I'm down in Capitol Hill, where I know there is not really much to speak of. Apart from Landsdowne and secret spots, anything worth checking out? Just thought I'd see what I could trawl in.

west virginia
On 12/15/2001 irierider wrote in from (152.163.nnn.nnn)

figured id tell everyone about west virginia now that ski season is about to start and you cant ride anymore. perfect roads, well maintained, friendly drivers when you do encounter traffic, which is rare in alot of places. you cant go slow if you want to. been riding in this dreamland for a while now and its the best place ive ever ridden.4 foot wide snake runs where you hit 20-25 easily, big runs down mountains where you routinely break the speed limit. mellow mood, everyones cool and you can just do it how you want to....for anyone who wants to try and take advantage, just go to snowshoe mountain in southern west virginia....check out the scenic highway 150 too...go past williams river campground a couple miles and you will find brand new pavement with virtually no traffic.....just remember to spread the love and ride responsibly, its pretty easy to get in over your head real quick peace

Parking garages in Seattle area
On 12/13/2001 Satan on Wheels wrote in from (168.191.nnn.nnn)

Since it's been raining here so much I want to find some parking garages to skate, preferably ones you can skate a few times with out getting busted, but any will do. I know of one in the Westlake Center area that is around 7 floors and it has an awesome, steep two story plunge at the bottom. You can get a lot of speed on that thing. I've never been busted there, it's pretty good. Anyone else willing to share their parking garages?

Hey, does anybody that has a car willing to go on a little adventure to Moses Lake (Washington state) and skate some fullpipes and ditches with me? They are dry right now (well, not in use anyway)and the fullpipe should be dry even when it's raining. I can get some gas money, so if your interested e-mail me at satanicsk8r@hotmail.com

24th in Ballard
On 12/10/2001 Satan on Wheels wrote in from (168.191.nnn.nnn)

I haven't been to this hill yet but it sounds great:3 lanes plus parking lanes on both sides, new asphalt, and it's 20 blocks long! The cool thing is there is a bus stop at the bottom of the hill which will take you right back up, so hold on to your transfers and you can skate it as much as you want with out any walking.

Longboarders in Christchurch NZ
I have an urban riding opportunity that I want to share with
soulful cruisers in this region - a smooth garage to ride where I have an
good relationship with staff who turn a blind eye...ride all night
under the lights, maybe even have a fun race. Post here if you're
into it, it's a blast. I have a varied quiver and access to a vehicle.

My home-hill in Seattle.
On 12/5/2001 Soulstyle wrote in from (216.58.nnn.nnn)

OK, I've been riding this hill for 2 years and living on it for 1. If you longboard in Seattle you've got to know about Wallingford Ave. My run starts on Wallinford Ave. at the top of the Wallingford Playfield (43rd NE) and ends at Stone Way and 35th NE near Fremont and covers 11 blocks. Smooth asphalt most of the way, and a older ashpalt toward the bottom. What's great is that you can break right (west) down any of the residential streets off of Wallingford Ave. and ride different grades and surfaces. At Stone and 35th (the and of my run) you can coast into the parking lot by the kite store and take some rollercoaster type drops. Then catch Metro Bus 16 almost all the way back to the top. It is ill, when it's dry.

For me it's all about the soul-riding. I ride latenight on weekends once to thrice a month, weather permitting. Looking for others to ride with. I favor long smooth runs like UW campus, Wallingford Ave. and Fremont Ave. Post a responce here in "Riding Locations" and I'll start posting nights and times I intend to ride. I pay attention to the weather I'll post about 4-5 days in advance. Give it up for SEATTLE!!

Baltimore is starting to suck!
On 12/3/2001 longboardkook wrote in from (209.244.nnn.nnn)

In Baltimore now it is all about kickflipping. With exception of just a few skaters in Baltimore and that number is dwindling, Baltimore's skate scene has become apathetic and is starting to become pathetic. Baltimore's skate tradition is going down the toilet, case in point, Landsdowne Skatepark. Here is a paraphrased quote for you from the local skateshop "we don't care about Landsdowne. We have the new Charmcity skateboard park".

Come on Baltimore, step up to the government officials and fight to return Landsdowne back to it's original state of free skating with no rules except to have fun.

To all you riders that longboard out there. I also make my own boards. All by hand no patterns. I sell them for about 15 dollars and have been offered up to 200$ by stores. They kick ass but I only sell them to die hard boarders and friends. My labor is free I just need the money for the wood. Drop me an email if your intrested it is on the post right after this.
