i'm a Berkeley rider looking for some technical, real fast streets in Santa Barbara. I'm visiting the town to check out the campus, which really means to check out the slopes. I need the info. on the steepest, most windy, preferably sliding hills and i look forward to meeting and riding with some experienced skaters who are down to show me arround the place. hope to hear from some of you locals soon.

Hey Sicnic... Ring up Diane Sawyer from ABC. She is ready to ride luge and has a black limo for a chase vehicle. She has her own custom leathers and can kick some butt. We rode in Riverside Park after they booted us out of the north end of Central Park. NYC is also a cool place to longboard, most of the homeless people I met wanted to try it.
Check this link out for luge close to your home http://more.abcnews.go.com/onair/goodmorningamerica/gma001006streetluge.html

COOL ! The picture I thought you were talking about is actually an ad for gravity. I haven't seen the one you mentioned, but I'm going to take a look to verify. If you ever get a chance to skate Revere you'll never regret it. The place has something for everyone. Banks, big & small, bowled corners, stairs, rails, downhill, planters. You can't find a better all around spot than Revere. Skated it just last week while down in Santa Monica. So how to get there ? Get off of I-10 on Cloverfield in Santa Monica & go north. Take the right fork to 26th st. Stay on a north route. Take 26th all the way to San Vicente. Once you cross San Vicente 26th turns into Allenford. Stay on Allenford. It's hilly & somewhat windy. You'll see a school to your right. That's Revere. Go to Sunset Blvd & turn right @ the light. Go to Mandeville & make a right into the parking lot by the handball & tennis courts. Park by the entrance to the schoolyard & proceed to rip. You're now in NIRVANA !

Hi Rob. I believe this photo you mention was taken in Colorado, if it's the same one of the frontside ollie on the bank on a Gravity longboard. If you look closely, on the wall behind him there's something written on there. It says "Colorado has waves too !" Check it out. I could be wrong, but it's worth a look /;~)henry

Hey PAXMAN, is the Hypoluxo Road ditch in West Palm Beach still happening ? I used to skate that back in 1975 through 1978. Also check out the possible ditch down in Hollywood where the old Skateboard USA skatepark used to be. Can't remember the name of the exit, but you might be able to see it off of I-95 South. If you're ever in California get in touch. Always good to hear from someone from my original neck of the woods /;~)henry

Attention all skaters of past. Mecca bekons you. Yes, Paul Revere Jr. High has been repaved & is currently being re-sessioned like mad. Big & small banks w/ bowled corners. This spot is legendary dating back to the days of Danny Bearer & Torger Johnson (R.I.P). Don't be surprised if you show up on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon for a session & find yourself among legends such as Tony Alva, Steve (Bulky) Olson, Paul Constantineau or Mike Scheliga. Best setups for Revere are the long ones if speed is your game. Skate it out of honor, roots & fun. Take nothing but pictures & leave nothing but urethane tracks.

Hey guys, I'm a crazy streetboarder with a flexdex who likes to tear up banks around here and have some fun. I have some spots for you guys to check out here in San Jose, Sunnyvale, Milpitas, Los Gatos, Los Altos, and beyond. I really want to discover some new exciting banks/ ditches to ride, so any help would be great action. If you want to look and skate with us, anyone with some experience riding banks/ditches is welcome -- me and me bro are always looking for good boarders to romp around with. Email me -- dont hesitate cause I go back down to Santa barbara for school on the 6th.
Here's some all time spots (directions going from San JO):
1.) Campbell -- Los Gatos creek Trail, Camden Ave overpass.: I always ride alone here, not that its a bad thing hehe. This is a sloping 5' walkway which leads to a bank, starting from 2' at the top to 10' at the bottom. Lots of fun because its downhill, smoth concrete for the north side and kind of ruff for the southside. Fun, its prolly the closest you will get to surfing a wave on land. Pretty hairball, my bro broke his jaw here (yikes). He wont go here anymore, still gives me the shivers sometimes, but I'm on it whenever I can go. Look out for the nasty bikers and trail goers. Lets see whatcha got, hit me up.
2.) Sunnyvale, The Wave, near Town and Country center in Sunnyvale: picture you are on el camino real, and see mathilta. Go toward town and country, and go over the overpass. The first light, make a left by the fire station. Another left into the facilities. Its back there, solid 8' wall that is fun fun. It was in Gravity Slides by Gravityboarding. 6 banks, another skatespot, used to be in the complex, RIP that was my fav all time spot. Those who know miss it too. I have vids of me skating there.
3.) Dixon Landing, Milpitas: 880 north, dixon landing exit, turn right at light, right at fork in road, you'll see them. Tons of fun banks back here, maybe 15 of them! All about 4-5', some are really steep, 85%, but I can still make it up them. Hairball, my tail hits the ground on the way up. Theres also a sketchy ditch to ride if you dare in the back of the place.
4.) Milpitas, Ohlone Exit(?): A few exits after dixon. I saw this from the 880 freeway, have yet to check it out, but I saw some potentially good banks.
5.) Secret Spot in Los Altos hills: You'll have to ride with us to find it, picture 6-8 sets of 4' banks that go on for 50+ yards. Damn son. Plus that it is a mild slope, and on one end there is a decent hill to bomb. This was in Gravity Slides too. The only reason I keep it secret is because of the cop factor. I dont want them to put skate preventers on there. You can email me for directions though, but beware you WILL get booted sooner or later by the cops. :)
6.) Capitol expy underpass, South San Jose: Going south on 87, take capitol exit, turn left at light, you will see the banks in the underpass: Tight! Park in the parking lot. I would advise late night -early Sunday morn skates, traffic can be heavy at times and losing a board could be very bad since its on an expressway. Havent been there yet, will go there soon. Very smoothy.
7.) Downtown San Jose, near San Jose state: There's a brick parking structure down there, I've skated it, but it has skate preventers. A 6-7' brick wall inside the place, 3-4' walls outside. Now its bricked cause it was popular to skate, but some asses chipped the bricks off (tight).
8.) De Anza College: Go to the track field. See that concrete slab above the bleachers? Its the roof of what used to be the gun range. Haha. I've ridden it several times, there used to be no fences there, probably cause of me -- now you have to access it from behind the place(prefferably at night). Good luck, its fun but wildman. And look out for the cops, too. Theres a few others I didnt mention, someone hit us up to skate! Rob Kaihuna@aol.com

Parking Garage, USA

So whats the deal with people being busted in parking garages? Funny thing is, I got reprimanded once in my parking garage-bombing career. Dude was more interested in what I was doing than giving me a tisk. I guess the issue is the garage doesn't want to get their ass sued for a bomber breaking an arm cuz of an oil slick -- thats cool, I guess but hey most of those dudes don't give a bollocks whether were in there or not. Anyone got into the law on account of a parking garage????

For those of you not privleged enough to live in B'ham, chuckanut drive is one of the most scenic routes in the NW. its also full of great long hills with a nice gentle slope, great for carving just as the sun is rising over the islands. there are 5 or 6 2-3 mile long hills with nice smoothe blacktop. there are also stepper runs in the shade on which you can get going pretty fast. (ive never clocked my self, and I dont want to guess the speed). its Beautiful out there at 6:00 am on a weekend in the summer, but is also good most of the year during the work day. if any one out there is from bellingham WA, drop me a line. peace out, the hermannator

Hey Martin & DT and anyone else who wants to bomb hills on Oahu,
I'm on Oahu right now. I try to skate hills as much as possible. Just skated down my parent's backyard hill, Sierra Dr. It's pretty sick. I normally live in Long Beach, CA, but I was born and raised on Oahu. I'm just in town visiting my family for the holidays until January 7thish.
Drop me an email if you want to skate some sick hills. Oahu has DA BEST hills. No joke!
If we don't hook up before I leave, get a map of Honolulu and check out:
1) Tantalus Dr. 2) Pacific Heights Rd. 3) Sierra Dr.
Tantalus Dr. A 10 mile loop on the ridge creates two 5 mile runs. Drive to the top and take your pick of Tantalus Drive or Round Top Drive. Definitely advanced boarding. 19 Hairpins!!!! Beware of oncoming traffic and slick spots in the shade. Bottom of run is Nehoa and Makiki St. intersection in Makiki. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! But no streetlights, so only daytime skating.
Pacific Heights Road Perfect for intermediate to advanced. Solid 2.5 miles of EPIC pavement. Wide street with limited traffic for Honolulu. Bottom begins at Shell station right before Pali Highway (Kailua Bound) on ramp. 6 Hairpins. Good lighting for night skating.
Sierra Dr. On Maunalani Heights by Kaimuki is a nice 3 mile switchback (intermediate to advanced) with 5 hairpins and some sketchy sections. Begins at 11th and Waialae Ave. Good lighting for night skating. Good driveways for hitting!
Let me know if you get to skate em! huntjrk@aol.com
Later,
Jesse
